Giant Atlantis 5.......2005-09-30
I have found these episodes quite intriguing espically the last two episodes. It is great that the makers have put alot of time and effect in making the final series a breath-taking at which people see if Major Sheppard survives or not.
startgate atlantis vol5.......2005-09-27
This dvd is worth it just for the siege part 1 and 2 alone. The Gift basically sets us up for the siege. Letters from Pegasus is what I hate most about US tv drama. The 'don't do much but lets go over old episode clips because we're saving money' episode. Every show seems to do this. Never mind, the characters get better and I think SG-AT is at nearly the top of its game. Great Escapism!.
Atlantis rules.......2005-07-21
I think the Seige Part 1 and 2are two of the best episodes in series 2. I think Letters From Pegasus probably lets down the DVD which is why I only gave it four stars. Season 2 has started in America so hopefully it wil air on Sky One very soon.
Stargate rules!!!!.......2005-07-20
In my opinion the seige P1 and 2 are one of the best episodes in sereis 1. It reminds me of the good old Stargate SG1 episodes. Iam looking forward to series 2
The Siege Parts 1 & 2.......2005-07-13
These two episodes in my mind are the best in Season 1. They show the city being attack by the Wraith. Hundreds of Darts flying around the city being shot down by plasma turrets brought from Earth. Will the Wraith win? We'll have to wait to Season 2.

Very Promising!.......2006-04-06
Stargate Atlantis Season Two starts with the third part of a trilogy of episodes. Because of this what may have been a brilliant episode was slightly confusing for me, having not seen the first season. The second episode was similarly disappointing as they, admittedly openly, ripped off an episode of Stargate SG1, which felt very by the book, however it did give me a chance to grasp each characters personality and get into the show as a whole. The third episode Runner was a welcome change, this episode was brilliant and gave me hope for the rest of the season, it was funny, and dramatic what I like best from my TV. Duet, the fourth episode, raised my opinion even further as I witnessed what was pretty much a purely comical episode. If the rest of the season continues to improve at this rate we will be in for a treat.
With a commentary per episode and two featurettes this DVD works hard to fill its space. Each commentary was a good listen the best two being on the last two episodes, the references to Lord of the Rings, Serenity and many other recent genre classics not going amiss. The featurettes, mission directives for each of the first two episodes, gave lots of behind the scenes insight, with some cast participation. These added insight help to improve my enjoyment of the more disappointing episodes of this quartet. Though faltering for me at the start this season of Atlantis looks to be a good one and the DVD gives you extra depth with a high amount of extras for a TV DVD.
Season 2 - Off To A Good Start.......2006-01-05
The first four episodes of Season 2 are some of the best so far this Season.
The first episode "The Siege: Part III" follows on where the Season 1 two-parter finale "The Siege: Part I & Part II" left you. We are introduced to two new characters in this episode and the Special Effects are truly amazing.
"The Intruder" is an ok episode, it uses the same idea that was used in a Season 4 episode of Stargate SG-1, but adds some neat twists to the episode. Some comical moments as well.
"Runner" introduces us to our new team member - Ronan Dex. "Runner" is basically what Ronan is, and also in this episode we encounter the MIA Lt. Ford. Also Stargate SG-1 fans - look out for a character from the SG-1 universe who will be appearing in a few episodes this season.
"Duet" is the funniest episode made on Stargate Atlantis to date. This episode shows what a wonderful talented actor David Hewlett is, but also highlights on a whole what a great show Atlantis is.
Hopefully all these episodes will have audio commentaries, and also a few special features on the making on these episodes.
Overall - some excellent episodes on this first DVD, which I will purchase as soon as its available to buy.
Bloody great Wraith kicking action!.......2005-12-14
I've seen these episodes on the T.V. and must say, they're worth every penny. The atlantis team meets Ronan Dex, a wraith runner who leads them to adventures'a plenty. Brilliant.

Stargate Atlantis Season 3 kick's off with a bang!.......2007-09-03
Episode 3.1 (No Man's Land) picks up from directly from the season 2 finally, with the team desperately attempts to stop two Wraith hive ships from reaching Earth. With a number of space battle sequences adding to the scope of the episode, this episode delivers action and suspense. The story continues and concludes in episode 3.2 (Misbegotten) as the Atlantis team must decide the fate of a colony of Wraith they have turned into humans. This episodes allows actor Paul McGillion to shine as Dr. Carson Beckett, by exploring the ethical issues of experimentation on prisoners of war. Episode 3.3 (Irresistible) is one of Atlantis more comic episodes, in which actor Richard Kind is introduced as Lucius Lavin, who's pheromones cause both men and women to take an interest in him to the point, ignoring their own self-interests. At times silly, this episode allows the actor to explore a different side to their characters. Episode 3.4 (Sateda), delves into the past of Ronon Dex. A mixture of high octane action and flashbacks, works well giving the episode a major big film feel into 42 minutes of television. Over all, the first four episodes of season 3 provide enough entertainment for any fans and new comes alike.
A reasonable start to the series.......2007-09-03
As is pretty traditional by this point, the series starts by carefully writing the good guys out of the horrible mess they were in in the end-of-season cliffhanger: "No man's land" and "Misbegotten" deal with somehow stopping the Wraith from reaching Earth, and then dealing with the consequences of the way that was achieved. They're both pretty enjoyable (though mildly schizophrenic) episodes.
"Irresistible" is apparently intended to be a comic relief episode in tone, but is unspecific enough about the motivating-danger-of-the-week that the superficially humourous moments are darkened with the question of whether the good guys are in fact in trouble at that point.
"Sateda" deals with the origin of Ronon, told mostly in flashbacks (not of actual earlier footage). If you like the character, or enjoy seeing very straightforward Wraith-are-bad/kill-lots-of-Wraith episodes, then you'll enjoy this one. It's not great, but rather better written than the other three.
Overall, not a bad start to the series, but it is pretty forgettable.
Eagerly awaited.......2007-08-22
For someone who doesn't have sky and so has only seen the first two series this is the most eagerly awaited dvd of the year, at least for me. The cliffhanger of series 2 will be resolved and we finally get to know some of the characters whilst meeting new bad guys. For any fan of science fiction i would reccommend trying this.

Well done.......2005-09-10
It is always hard to get your head round a spin off series but Stargate atlantis has got me hooked.
The new team is great and the story lines are put together very well. If you likes SG1 you will not be disapointed with Atlantis
stargate atlantis.......2005-07-12
this followed in the traditional format of the Stargate series and the special effects were similar. I found it entertaining but for me, without the characters I have got to know and love in the original Stargate series I did not find I enjoyed it as much.It was hard not to be too subjective. Having said that I would happy to watch more to see how it developed.
COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-05-03
the first time that i watched stargate atlantis i could not believe how well written and easy to follow in was. all of the CGI was like being at the pictures. for a star trek fan as well i did find that it had a few similarities with star trek voyager in the fact that the atlantis team were also stranded in an unknown part of the universe and that they had to find a way home by looking for the all powerful ZPM's to power the stargate however it is good because it finally does something with that plotline about the ancients that has been continually dragging on throughout various episodes of SG-1. and it very cleverly brings to life the myth of the lost city of atlantis and the city is the most detailed piece of CGI that i have seen especially during the rising episode when it rose from the depths of the ocean floor however what would be even better is if they could get the city to fly again in one of the later seasons to come
This series in general..........2005-03-28
I have never written a review before. I am not talented at expressing myself but I felt I had to try in the case of 'Stargate Atlantis'. For a starting series this program truely impressed me, getting into its stride very quickly.
The main cast of Atlantis is well developed and easy to like and the plots are fresh and intriguing - both the main plot concerning the principle enemy the Wraith and finding energy sources for the trip back to Earth, and the subplots of the new human races they encounter and the presumed extinct race, the Ancients, who brought human life to the new galaxy (the Pegasus Galaxy).
The series is visually stunning with special effects rarly seem outside of the cinema. The city itself, left by the Ancients, is immensly detailed, so much so that at times it is easy to forget that is is only computer generated. This realism makes the effect of the city rising from the ocean in the pilot episode all the more impressive.
If you liked Stargate you will love this series but it is by no means necessary to have watched this series to understand and enjoy Atlantis.
All I can say in closing is this: buy it, you won't regret it - you are in for a treat!
Great stuff!!.......2004-12-31
Atlantis is great-enough said. Just watch the opening two-parter and you will be blown away! I'm still puzzled at how they did it all in two episodes. The rising of the city of atlantis should not be missed. Only downside is the complete season 1 isn't out until march 2006 and it would be far cheaper than buying individual volumes-5 of them a year. Still Atlantis is the best-watch it!!

Atlantis goes from strength to strength.......2005-06-21
Another excellent offering from the Stargate:Atlantis spin off.
In Hot Zone, McKay is once again uncomfortably in the thick of the action- responding with his characteristic acidic wit- while Sheppard races to his aid against the better judgement of Dr Weir.
Sanctuary sees the team land in a pre-technological paradise after a close shave with the wraith. The inhabitants, and their local priestess, seem in perfect health and totally untouched by the wraith- but all is not as it seems. A great twist at the end here.
Before I sleep is another excellent episode, one of the best to date in my opinion. The team discover an elderly woman in stasis while exploring the city. Upon awakening, the woman identifies herself as none other than Dr Weir, and proceeds to explain how she ended up in stasis- sheding light on the explorers' early days in atlantis in the process.
Finally, The Brotherhood sees the team once again in search of a ZPM on another planet, but the Genii hear of their search and take the opportunity to try to turn the situation to their advantage...
All in all, Atlantis goes from strength to strength, showing the vigour and imagination we haven't seen since the hay-day of SG1.

brilliant disc the best yet.......2005-06-26
Disc 3 of stargate atlantis contains the massive 3 part story: 'the gemni','the storm' & the eye'. which involes the somewhat gung ho race the gemni who force the atlantis team to help them blow a 'wraith' hive ship out of the sky, the gemni attempt to double cross atlantis but the team escapes.back on atlantis a massive storm which only appears every 30 years is making its way to atlantis. everyone evacuates apart from a skelton crew which stays behind to try & raise a sheild to stop atlantis from being destroyed, the gemni forces invade & capture the station. shepard seals the stargate & manges to outwith the forces of the gemni & take back the base
The defiant one is the final episode in which sheperad, mckay & 2 tset pilots find a downed 'wraith' ship they investigate & a dangerous game of cat & mouse ensues between shepard & a lone 'wraith' an entertaing episode finishes an excellent disc role on vol 4
Very Good episodes !.......2005-06-15
You will find in this DVD the two mid-season episodes which are the best episodes of the first season of Stargate : Atlantis after the two-parter season finale " The Siege ".
The DVD has a lot of extras which are very fun to watch and the episodes are really in amazing quality. ( High Definition )
[+] : - Very good encoding
- DVD9 ( with 4 episodes , practical )
- extraordinary episodes ( especially " The Storm " and " The Eye " )
[-] : - We want more extras ;-)
- Only english and deutsh subtitles..
- Too perfect ;-)
So , 5 Stars !
A new direction for Atlantis.......2005-05-21
This, in my opinion, is the disc where Stargate Atlantis comes into its own as a series with the excellent Underground/The Storm/The Eye triplet which use the advantages of this show's premise to finally do a story SG-1 couldnt do. Colm Meaney and Erin Chambers are good additions and hopefully this will not be their last appearence. Sheppard's personal story in the Storm/Eye two parter (and indeed in the rest of the disc) is excellent and helps to set him further apart from Jack O'Neill, who he is frequently compared to.
'The Defiant One' smacks of SG-1's 'Death Knell' and the story is essentially the same but it does have two advantages: 1) the nature of the Wraith and the characters involved make it a stronger story, and 2) its good. While 'Death Knell' tried to make a scary story about poor Carter and the faceless clone, the set up of the 10,000 year old wraith who comes across as a developed character rather than jsut bad guy muscle makes this episode far more scary.
From a DVD point of view the extras havent improved from the first two discs, but I've moaned enough about that already. Overall strong episodes, a good buy.
Best 4 Atlantis episodes yet!.......2005-05-20
These mid-season episodes are definitely the best yet as it sees the cast getting into their stride now. The two-parter (The Storm/The Eye) being as near to the edge of the seat as anything that has been done yet with the series.
One quibble is that I don't think the powers that be checked the content of the disc before release, as in the extras there is a fundamental mistake. On the featurette 'Sanctuary' the screen card for the director is wrong. It should read 'James Head' NOT 'Andy Mikita'.
Otherwise I would recommend this as a DVD to watch.
TV to DVD, Stargate SG-1 Spin-off.......2005-02-22
Altough this DVD is not out yet, i can assure you that, after watching the series on TV these are some of the best episodes I have seen, with new technologies and enemies, the only reason I recommend you get the DVD is becuase you get the quality and no adverts, whcih also helps viewing.
A must have for the Stargate fans out there.

atlantis continues with new stories.......2005-06-26
disc 2 of atlantis takes a some what different turn but still remains interesting. this disc contains more ethical issues which is shown is poisioning the well. When a planet is incubated from the villians 'the wraith' but by doing so kills 50 % of the people who take it. Suspicison involes an elaborate plot by the atlantis crew to capature a live 'wraith' who have tendencie to explode if compromised, this leads to the capture of the 'wraith' steve who informs them an army of wraith attack ships are heading to atlantis, an entertaing episode.Childhoods end deals with the issue of sucide by a planet inhabited by under 25's, this makes an intersing episode & the final epiosde home when the atlantis crew thinks they have reached earth but are in a fabricated reality
another great disc from atlantis
Atlantis continues at strength.......2005-04-12
This DVD continues the saga of the Stargate spin off from the very strong first disc. Note that the episodes on the disc are out of broadcast order. 'Underground' has been moved to a later disc and 'Home' is on this volume instead. The cover artist was likely not informed as the mysterious webbing-like images on the cover are largely from 'Underground'.
The disc kicks of with the excellently played if rather conviniently ended 'Suspicion' which provides some tense internal conflict in Atlantis and further establishes the world of the show.
Childhood's End, while at first sight borrowing heavily from sci-fi clichés, turns a new Atlantis twist on the tale and provides some hilarious McKay moments along the way.
Poisoning the Well is a thoughtful morality tale tying the theme of medical ethics with the concept of 'Victory at all costs.' The episode boasts a central role for Dr Beckett alowing him to shine and actor Paul McGillian a chance to flesh out his character from bumbling comic relief. Despite noticable similarities with SG-1's 'Cure' highlighted by an appearence by an actress from that episode, the show holds its own well and gives us some interesting insights into the personal morality of many of the main characters.
The final offering, 'Home,' ruined for first time Sky watchers by the TV trailer giving far too much away, is by itself a well written tale of suspense which plays well on fans' tendency to point out inconsistencies in a smug voice.
