Who needs the glimmer twins?.......2007-10-30
This is a superb concert with the live feel captured on DVD. Bill seems a bit nervous to kick off with but he settles into the background modestly keeping the rythym going with Graham Broad on the drums. The line up speaks for itself with Georgie Fame magnificent as ever, Mike Sanchez bringing showmanship to the stage along with his wonderful keyboard skills which rank alongside those other RKs Geraint Watkins and Chris Stainton. Terry Taylor (and his Vox AC30) is a perfect foil to Albert Lee who if you are reading this probably know about his genius on the guitar anyway. The styles which the band cross from are many from blues, rythym, soul and even skiffle with a wonderful "Mule Skinners Blues" which even I can play along to as it only has three chords! For me the track that quite literally makes the DVD, although it is hard to single one out is Beverley Skeete's rendition of "Put a Spell on You". You will never see a better performance of this song. It might be a cliche but this genuinely makes the hair on the back of my neck bristle. This girl has the power in her voice and the drama to make you wonder why she is not as famous as that other Beverley. Jools Holland Orchestra you are great but this version blows yours out of the water. Frank Mead and Nick Payne are worth watching as well as listening to for their synchronised movements with the saxaphones and what a Chuck Berry take off! You will not be disappointed with this DVD. Like the albums Bill chooses his musicians well and he is very unassuming and is clearly proud to have the likes of Georgie Fame and Albert Lee playing in his band.

Simply Superb!.......2004-11-03
If you buy just one music DVD, make it this one. Superb performances from talented musicians. Mike Sanchez is a revelation!
For R&B fans, this is just brilliant. The sound quality and camera work is great.
Buy it, you won't regret it!
Great fun.......2004-07-26
I bought this DVD together with The Rhythm Kings' latest CD, Just for a Thrill. Everything that is unfortunately missing there: great songs and exciting instrumental solos, you will find in abundance on this DVD. As Bill Wyman says in the introduction: "If you will be having half the fun tonight that we have playing on this stage, it will be a shame". But there is little fear of that happening since the fun on stage proves very infectuous.
If you like me have been buying all the Kings' CD's so far, there are only a few new songs to be found here, but even so, their standards - all of them little gems - get an often new and always very energetic rendition. So for those of you sailors looking for a good time: you can let 'em roll right here.
Outstanding. See them live, buy the dvd........2004-06-23
Went to see them live at The Lowry, Manchester, which is one of the two concerts featured on this excellent dvd and they were brilliant. A superb line-up of top musicians playing together for the sheer fun of it and it shows in their perfomance. If you get the opportunity to see them perform live, take it, you certainly won't regret it! In any case buy the dvd, turn on the surround sound and crank up the volume, it's superb.
