Brilliant.......2007-09-19
I won a box set of the entirety of the WWE 2005 ppvs, and this EASILY takes the cake. There are some great matches on some of the other 2005 ppvs, such as matt hardy vs edge in a cage at unforgiven, or the mysterio vs guerrero ladder match at summerslam, but as a pay per view they were still weak. Obviously you'd expect more from an ECW ppv, and despite having the WWE label, and being funded by vince mcmahon this is excellent. If you like harcore matches, but think all the OTT blood is a bit ridiculous, you'll love this. Loads of chair shots, tables (especially in the Mike Awesome match) and a great main event. The ending is predictable, but still very good, and the Sandman's entrance is the best entrance I have EVER seen.
All in all definately 5 stars, and much better than what WWE are producing at the moment, so give it a go. You won't be dissapointed.
Missing something...maybe the true ECW.......2007-07-04
instead of mentioning it in every match review, i'll say that i think that every match in this ppv is way to short, especially the three way dance and lance storm vs jericho.
some WWE superstars make an appearance, throwing helplessly bad insults at their own company, seeing that WWE actually owns ECW, but there are still the mad old ecw superstars risking their lives in loads of highflying crazy moves, in my eyes the craziest stuntmen ever!
Lance Storm vs Jericho- 5.5/10
Not terrible, but there's not much action in this, wasn't particularly exciting, and didn't get the crowd hyped up.
Tajiri vs Super Crazy vs Little Guido- 6/10
Some more high risk moves here, and amazing jump from Super Crazy(i think it was from him) from the the rails of the higher floor into the FBI. the match had a quick pace, but was over too quickly.
Rey Mysterio vs Psicosis- 6/10
Nice moves from Mysterio and Psicosis, but the crowd hated this, as it included moves such as sleeper holds, and things like that.
Rhyno vs Sabu- 7/10
Good uses of weapons in this one, with RVD taking Sabu's side, and quite a lot of excitement. good ending with the table and the steel chair, but nothing more than just a good match.
Eddie Guerrero vs Chris Benoit- 7.5/10
A definite match of past seeing that both of these guys are dead now, and not a bad match at all. a decent length, with both men showing their all, but a very slow pace.
Masato Tanaka vs Mike Awesome- 6.5/10
I don't see how this match makes it into the dvd: 'ECW's most extreme matches' because there's no blood, and the only weapons used are steel chairs and tables- typical. This is quite a repetetive match with the same moves over and over again, but almost all of the table moves in this would have been a great ending to a normal WWE match.
Dudley Boyz vs Tommy Dreamer and the Sandman- 8.5/10
Finally, something more ECW!!! A slow start with interferences from the bwo, kid kash, balls mahoney, and a few others. finally when the match gets under way, a street sign is used to bust Dreamer open, who then gets a cheese grater sliced on his forehead, leaving him dripping with blood. trash cans, chairs, singapore canes, barbedwire balls and ladders are also used, aswell as a table on fire!
over all this was a decent ecw ppv, but it needed Paul Heyman to really make this ppv ecw. vince didn't do a bad job, but he only has limits to what he can control, and running this was him stepping over the line. being rated 15, this isn't you typical ecw blood and guts violent ppv taking it to the absolute extreme, but it's still worth a buy if you're a fan of ecw.
The last true night of ECW.......2007-06-03
Yes, this was, in my and many others' opinion, The last true night of ECW. Although the WWE guys showed up, the reaction they got from the ECW crowd (who you won't see at this new ECWWWE McMahon rubbish) was priceless. Even some non-WWE contrated guys showed up (eg. Dudleyz etc.), shwoing how much they loved ECW. The Matches lived up to expecation, and if you are a true Hardcore Wrestling Fan you should buy this (just watch the Tanaka vs. Awsome Match and Dreamer& Sandman vs. The Dudleyz).
ECW Lives!.......2006-08-21
There were many who doubted the ability of the WWE to adequately promote an ECW show. Those who saw their poorly executed angle in 2001 involving ECW and WCW will remember Vince's reputation for burying talent that was not of his own making. The inclusion of the Raw and Smackdown rosters, supposedly poised to bring the show down seemed to many to be a confirmation that the aforementioned would be the case.
They were wrong.
By handing the creative reigns over the originator of what ECW was, the genuis of Paul Heymen, WWE were able to produce a product shockingly similar to the later days of ECW (circa 1999/2000).
Why did I give it four stars then? I was one of the few who knew this would be a good show due to the strong card however none of the matches were given the time they needed to truly develop consequently none of the matches were five-star classics.
That being said, what a show it was! A decent opener between Chris Jerico and Lance Storm, a disappointing match between Rey Mysterio and Psycosis (which the crowd hated) a good match between Benoit and Guererro (who was in a bad mood that night because he didn't want to lose), a good but way too short 3 way dance between Tajiri, Little Guido and Super crazy, a good match between Sabu and Phine, an outstanding match between Tanaka and Awesome and a great main event between the Dudley's and Tommy dreamer and Sandman.
All in all, a great show and an absolute must for any ECW fan. It also includes the best promo of Van Dam's career and entertaining commentary by JBL.
EC F'N W!!!.......2006-02-22
So, with the McMahon family owning almost everything in the wrestling world, save for the psychos in CZW, you'd think that it'd be damn near impossible for a hardcore wrestling event to arrive on such a grand scale. You'd be wrong.
For the first time in 5 years we have some of the greats in ECW doing what they do best, being hardcore, chair swinging freaks too damn ugly to be in any cartoon. One Night Stand is probably the best PPV to be associated with WWE since the Royal Rumble 2000 (and that was only really good cuz of Taz, Cactus and the Dudleyz).
So, we have the classic ECW arena... we have Joey Styles and Cactus Jack doing commentary... we have Paul E. ... oh, yeah, we also have Raw and Smackdown! superstars in attendance to crash the party. That said, we also have wrestlers in the ring who started on the road to glory in ECW, including Ray Mysterio, Lance Storm, The Lionheart Chris Jericho (that's right, none of this Y2J business) and Chris Benoit.
Thrown into the mix we have an awesome bout between Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka, RVD and Sabu mounting an offensive on Rhino, Sandman and Dreamer vs. The Dudley Boyz and an all out brawl between the ECW and WWE wrestlers, all being egged on by Stone Cold and starting with Taz and Kurt Angle, which resulted in the Blue Meanie being cabbaged somethin chronic!
So, for what is really a WWE event, it is absolutely brilliant and just as hardcore as old ECW.

Great service, great DVD.......2005-09-29
Really, really good ECW dvd with shoot interviews from RVD and Paul E. Mike Awesome vs Tanaka steals the show match wise (even JBL seems impressed). A must for all ECW fans
Btw, that guy in the front row, skinhead with glasses - he's in all old WWF PPVs - who is he? And who is his beardy mate?
Service by this company was great btw.
ECW RETURNS!!!.......2005-07-15
It an instant classic for any ECW fan and it even works for wrestling fans like me who hardly ever watched ECW before! It had loads of WWE superstars (notice it's nobody that fans love like John Cena, Shawn Michaels or Batista) getting the hell beaten out of them! Here are some of the matches:
Chris Jericho vs Lance Storm: A fairly decent opener with some good moves the ending was bad and i don't think many people wanted Lance Storm to win. 6/10
Rey Mysterio vs Phycosis: It had some cool highflying moves and that leg drop onto Rey Mysterio while he was on the railing was class, i'm glad Mysterio won in the end though. 9/10
Rhyno vs Sabu: An alright match, nobody expected Sabu to show up! RVD got revenge on Rhyno at the end. 7/10
Chris Benoit vs Eddie Guerrero: Two of the most successful wrestlers to pass through ECW in my opinion, they had a very good match but it would have been better if Eddie got a frog splash. 8/10
Little Guido vs Super Crazy vs Tajiri Three man dance: For those of you who don't know what a three man dance is it's are basically a triple threat elimination match. First little Guido went out after suffering a moonsault from the balcony by Super Crazy, then i think he got pinned because he's crap. Then we had a good match on our hands! A fast paced, highflying and exciting match was eventually won by Super Crazy, he's insane! 10/10
The Dudleys vs The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer: The Sandmans entrance was something special, in the WWE you never get the fans singing along to the entace music! The brawl at the start with the BWO and Balls Mahoney and all those other people was a bit pointless but it was good when they got to the match! Countless items like a laddr, chairs, these steel sign things and even a cheese grater were used! And who will ever forget the bit with the flaming table! It even had a cat fight with these two women in it! This is what a truly great match is! 10/10
The Beating of the WWE crusaders and Eric Bischoff: We all knew it was gonna happen, when The Sandman asked for a beer after his match Stone Cold came down and he called out the people from the WWE and they came down to take on the whole ECW locker room! ECW kicked ass and proved that they can still put on an awesome show! The only WWE superstar that did well was JBL, he beat the hell out of Blue Meanie. The funniest part was Kurt Angle's face when he was in the Tazz mission, but what they did to Eric Bischoff was funnier! Firstt Mick Foley took him to the ring, then the Dudleys 3-Ded him, Then Benoit diving headbutted him, the Mysterio 619ed him, then Stone cold gave him a stunner. CLASSIC. 10/10
This has been better than all of the WWE payperviews this year (so far anyway) and it is definitely worth getting!
