Terrible waste of money........2005-01-28
I got this DVD as a present and I haven't got the heart to tell them that I will never watch it again. (Once was enough). I was immensely dissapointed at not being able to re-watch Rossi's breathtaking win in Australia. The Races have been shortened to a paultry snapshot of what went on. Such a shame. Big missed opportunity by Duke Video.
Moto GP 2004 Review - In my opinion.......2004-12-30
Looked forward to reliving some of the excitement of the 2004 season, but was disapointed as only about five minutes coverage shown of each 45 minute race, if the extras were dropped maybe a bit more race coverage could be fitted on.

Great Stuff. Great Improvement. Thoroughly Enjoyable for all. .......2007-02-26
I felt I had to comment on a few points after reading the previous review of this film.
Firtsly...
I loved Paul Gustafsons Book but the first film which I have on VHS was very amateurish and dreadfully painful to watch. Even a non film/media buff like myself couldn't help but notice the poor camera work and shocking editing especially the ending.
Fast forwarding to seeing the DVD release of "Bigger Pike" I stayed away but I then noticed this new film. Because I have to have sets and ot just part of one, I blindly paid for the "River Pike" DVD and anxiously placed it in my DVD player upon its arrival. How pleasantly suprised I was!
The job has been handed over to a new production company according to the box and credits and according to the website the director is actually 19! www.future-digital.co.uk
With this in mind I have to say...
This film really is superb. Forget the fact it is supposed to be a tutorial fishing DVD, It is instead an easy going well paced film following a guy who travels to Sweden to catch some european Pike. I loved the pace of it and I loved the cinematography. The beautiful scenery is really well captured and the weather looked to be different on each location which really added to the look. On top of this there are a couple of useful tidbits of info - nothing major for the experienced angler however - and some really nice fish.
It's what I call great Sunday afternoon viewing. I sat down with this DVD on 2 occasions and loved every minute. To review it properly I do have to notice some negatives. For one the sound is a little patchy but this doesnt affect viewing pleasure nor is it too indifferent from other titles in this genre. Secondly the non Sweden sections I felt should have been seperate. Some scenes on the Thames turned up no fish and although there was some nice explanation of Pauls processes they seemed a little redundant, although again the sceneic photgraphy is cracking.
As far as the disc goes, the menus are nicely animated between pages and although this could get tedious everytime you press a button it is nice to see someone making an effort to liven up the menus. From here you can then access a couple of nice Extras including fly tying and contrary to the previous review...Lures and fly fishing.
Based on the fact that this is a nice full disc, well presented, extremely charming and enjoyable and millions of miles better than the first, I really recommend to anybody who is keen in angling that doesnt want to learn loads of technical info but just enjoy watching a man pursuing his hobby!
This film also touched me as it bought back great memories of fishing a trip to Sweden that was one of the best "work" holidays you could ask for.
DON'T NOT BUY THIS BASED ON THE FIRST FILM!!
Great Stuff
Very disappointing!.......2007-01-16
Having enjoyed Paul Gustafson's book "How to Catch Bigger Pike", I was frankly left very disappointed by this DVD. First of all the DVD label states that it covers fly, lure and bait fishing. However, fly fishing isn't mentioned at all and lure fishing is only very briefly covered in the opening section about trolling lures with downriggers in Sweden. As a production it has very much a "home video" feel to it and just doesn't have the quality of other Green Umbrella offerings. In terms of being an instructional DVD, it has little value as there is little explanation of rigs or tactics throughout. Little snippets of information seem to be thrown in as an aside when the fishing is slow. A major gripe is that at one point Paul states that a pike he has just caught was on a deadbait, although the rainbow trout he has just extracted from its jaws is still clearing breathing. Why say one thing whilst doing another and pussy foot around the issue of livebaiting? Whilst Paul comes across as a very likeable fellow and seems genuinely enthusiastic about all the pike he catches no matter how big they are, I'm afraid that there are much better DVD's out there on this subject!

WWE Intercontinental Championship- Umaga vs Mr Kennedy vs Carlito
** OK Action, fairly short but in the time given it was OK
Rey Mysterio vs Chavo Guerrero
** Reys Return match, Not the best match they've had bit slow and to may restholds i thought by chavo but picked up at the end, Welcome back Rey!
Divas Battle Royal
* Horrible match, sloppy and boring skip this match the only good thing was looking at them
ECW World Championship- CM Punk vs John Morrison
** Similar to there GAB Match, Good but fairly short again
King Booker vs Triple H
** Triple H's Big Return and what a Return!!, Big hype and a nice entrance the match itself was average but the crowd loved Triple H and i'm glad he's back
World heavyweight Championship- Batista vs The Great Khali
* Well i'd have to say that probabily the Worst World Title Match i have seen for a very long time, slow boring and a horible long resthold by that big lump Khali who needs to be released.

*** Good Match, could of been better i think, good length and probabily best match of the night.
I thought summerslam was a big disapointment, Triple H and Rey's Returns where good and the wwe title match was good to but Khali/batista and the Diva match were horrible the others were just OK, i'd give summerslam a
