WRC SHOWDOWN - OR LETDOWN!.......2004-03-09
Following last seasons DVD of highlights that was Reloaded, I must say that I was a little disappointed with the content of Showdown as I thought it would be a longer viewing experience. The highlights start in Monte Carlo and less than an hour later you are watching Petter Solberg driving into Margam Park! Given the endless footage available I really think the producers would give more time to each event. As one reviewer states, this was one of the closet fought seasons and really did go down to the wire with Loeb,Solberg,Sainz and the unfortunate Richard Burns battling for the championship. That said the pictures are great and the dvd does a good job of covering all the teams including Skoda and Hyundai. The biggest improvement for me was the extras. These are much better than the previous dvd and really give a bit more meat to the bones of the rest of the disc.I thought the Tommi Makinen tribute was a nice touch (although a little short). Maybe they could have done something on Colin Mcrae as it may be the last season we see him contesting the WRC! Overall I agree with the other reviewers in that any fan of the WRC will enjoy and want this dvd. Hopefully next year lets see more action - even if it costs more!
It's good..........2004-03-07
...but nothing really special (as I hoped)
I'm little disappointed because they have cut out all the driver interviews on each rally.
What I like about it, is the feature of the last stage of Rally GB.
For a WRC fan I still recomend to buy it! (but if you have recorded all the TV coverage of the 2003 season, then you shouldn't buy it)
Good Rally, Poor Coverage.......2004-03-06
Well, I bought this DVD today, looked foward to watching good highlights of all the rallies when i got in. So far I've watched highlights of the first four rallies, and the DVD hasn't been in the player for 20 minutes as yet - very lacking coverage of the rallies. I havent checked the extra features out yet, but they would have to be very special to make up for the very very minimal coverage.
Oh and the commentary is poor too.
WRC Showdown 2003.......2004-03-03
I felt that it was a bit short. There are at most 5 minutes coverage on each round of the championship- frankly I'm a little dissapointed. It was one of the most exciting WRCs of the recent past, however, I did not feel this excitment watching this review.
The extras are good. Full length stages with in-car view. WOW.
Explanations on Virtual Spectator were good but a little short.
Top Quality - but more of it next time, please!.......2004-02-26
Top quality pictures, the WRC itself garantying some top motorsport action at its best!
Disapointed only with the average running time of the all package, enhanced when you know the capabilitys of the DVD format.
Nevertheless, a must have for all WRC fans, and and very nice way for the "fans-to-be" to become "fans-that-are"!
