good stuff.......2005-01-10
this isn't prime quality footage, but there are some very good fights on this dvd. good value. commentators give good insight into moves, camera angles are sometimes poor. if you like mma you should have this.
An extreme bargain.......2003-06-30
4 DVDs of Mixed Martial Art action for under a tenner? This set is superb value any way you look at it. The production is a little rough and ready at times, but as a document of the early rise of MMA, this can't be beaten.
It shows the transition of this type of event from brutal spectacle to respected sport. You get to see pivotal moments like Maurice Smith KOing Mario Sperry, proving that strikers could win over BJJ. You get to see the development of ground'n'pound, as an olympic medallist in wrestling with no submission training figures out how to dominate his cross-trained opponent. You get to see current UFC star Carlos Newton in his first ever fight (in a gi!), plus much more.
A must have for all MMA fighters and fans. At this price you can't go wrong.
Very Limited Appeal.......2002-10-30
This DVD is almost exclusively wrestling/grappling, fighting is not a good description as there's hardly any in it. If you want to see men rolling around, hugging each other for 10 mins at a time this is for you, for example in 90% of the 'fights' the win is only achieved when one guy gives up!! I've seen better fighting at the local bingo.
The Best of the available Fighting DVDS.......2002-07-11
This is easily the best of the available no hold bars fight DVDS available. It would appeal even more to people who understand the moves used ,as there is a higher percentage of skilled more technical fighters than on the UFC series of DVDs, probably because it contains the best fights of the four championships. This is not to say there is a lack of pure aggression though, as there is not. The fact that it contains Vols 1-4 on one DVD puts it right at the top of anyones shopping list. The first of the volumes is the best as, like the UFC,they were forced to start wearing gloves and are not allowed to headbutt in the later ones. Not all the fights are on the disk, but all the best ones are there. This still leaves about 20 fights so you certainly wont be left wanting. This DVD is brilliant value for your hard earned pennies, I'd heartily recommend it to anyone who is interested in extreme fighting. I would also recommend it to martial arts practitioners of any style as it is a real eye opener to what works and what doesnt.
Worth every penny it costs.......2002-06-19
Quite good video quality, and good contents.
Also if it doesn't give all the fight of the 4 events, it has the best fights of those events and for little money u have nearly 3 hours of amazing extreme fight!!!
The part one is the best cause at that time head bouts were allowed and they fight with bare hands!!!
after the second edition of event they introduced some more rules like no head bouting and karate glows for hands. Anyway this doesn't make the fights less interesting except that there is a bit less blood....but this doesn't change the fight.U can see in action some very famous martial artist of K1 like Maurice Smith and John Riviere, i found interesting to watch them fighting with a different style they use to.
If u r interested in jujitsu extreme fighting u will be amazed by this DVD.
