F.B.I. operative Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) famously went undercover in a beauty pageant a while back, and now she's supposedly so recognizable that her only use to the agency is as a pretty public representative. Dumped by her boyfriend (whom Benjamin Bratt wisely decided not to portray this time around), a gloomy Gracie goes along with the promo biz until her friend, Miss United States (Heather Burns), is kidnapped along with pageant official Stan Fields (William Shatner) in Las Vegas. Bullock still has perk to please her fans, but neither she nor her awkward alter-ego has any purpose in a sequel to a movie released five years prior. The result is a desperately unfunny, feature-length commercial for Las Vegas tourism, with outdated homosexual stereotypes (Diedrich Bader, as Gracie's stylist) and the usually terrific Regina King (of Ray and Jerry Maguire fame) stuck in a glum role as Bullock's butch bodyguard. Disappointing.......2007-03-05
I loved Miss Congeniality. I thought it was well written and the actors were brilliantly funny. However, I cannot say the same for the second film. The whole storyline is absolutely obsurd and poorly written.
If you make your partner watch romantic comedies with you, please for the sake of that person, don't make him/her watch it!
An inferior sequel.......2006-09-28
Sequels are often disappointing and, although Miss Congeniality 2 has some clever ideas, it is not as good as the first movie. MC2 pretty much starts where its predecessor finishes with Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) now a designer-cloth wearing megastar following her heroic rescue in MC1. The antitheses of the tough, cynical cop she once was, a new even tougher girl cop Sam Fuller (Regina King) is hired as her minder. The pair hate each other at first but, when tragedy strikes, they gradually meet in the middle and (surprise, surprise) save the day.
A goodish story then but Miss Congeniality 2 is spoilt by its crass modern commercialisation and product placement. Watch it if you enjoyed the first film but prepare to be disappointed.

I disagree with previous reviews about the first film being better. They are both great films alone, and I must say the 2nd (Miss Conjeniality 2), I found to be funny and uplifting.. my favourite of the two.

The first ten minutes of Miss Congeniality 2 are better than the first ten minutes of Miss Congeniality 1 but the rest of the film is nowhere near as good.The writers of Miss Congeniality 2 failed to make the characters as likeable and engaging as they were in the first film and it seemed to me that William Shatner was shown every now and again just to remind the viewer that he was actually in the movie.The partnership between Regina King and Sandra Bullock as FBI agents was not as interesting or as convincing as the one Bullock had with Benjamin Bratt in Miss Congeniality 1.And the absence of Michael Caine in the sequel meant that it lacked a touch of class.

I totally loved this film, it's great light hearted humour and Sandra Bullock plays her part really well.
She totally rocks this film, it's kick ass woman protecting the community, FBI style.
Don't listen to these people who say it's bad, it's a funny, slightly tacky, fun film to watch with your friends.

The Miss Congeniality movies are custom-made for Sandra Bullock's screen career persona. She plays clumsy, nerdy FBI agent Gracie Hart, who is given the horrific pseudonym Gracie Lou Freebush (one example of the movie's juvenile tendencies) when assigned to infiltrate a beauty pageant to investigate threats of a terrorist attack. Transforming Bullock from frumpy geek to stunning contestant was always going to be a piece of cake so the premise for the first Miss Congeniality tale is tenuous at best. More enjoyable is her character's uncouth disdain for pageant contestants and her mistaken perception that they're all a bunch of bimbos. The film nicely charts Gracie's realisation that her own pageant makeover provides a much-needed ego boost, although she gives pageant coach Victor, played by Michael Caine, a run for his money. In addition to Caine's effortless scene-stealing, William Shatner as pageant host and Candice Bergen as the event organiser are smart choices for comedic support, but the movie desperately needs a credible foundation for its comedy to really pay off. Bullock's bureau boss (Benjamin Bratt) is an unconvincing dimwit, and none of the plotting is as smart as, for example, Beverly Hills Cop in combining procedure with laughs. That leaves Bullock to carry the burden of a comedy that barely works in her favour. Only Bullock's fans will appreciate the sequel, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous. Give it a chance!.......2005-12-02
Ok, I agree with the previous review in that you won't be guessing the plot, but if you enjoyed the first movie you will enjoy the second. The second movie has a similar theme to the first in that our heroine has to save the day, and Sandra Bullocks' type casting as the adorable yet silly Gracie Hart lends itself well to the popcorn movie of it's genre. It'll leave you smiling. A good film to put on to cheer yourself up. Not life changing, not challenging but fun and enjoyable.
disappointing - not much point to the story.......2005-11-03
I was so looking forward to watching this, as I particularly enjoyed the first Miss Congeniality, and I do rate Sanda Bullock in this type of casting.
However, as the film progressed, I became increasingly bored and irritated with the plot and its progression. There were a few laughs along the way which helped, but I can't say this is one I will be purchasing. Worth watching to tick it off your " I want to watch" list and know what you'll not need to endure it again.
