Great end of the season!.......2002-11-21

I love this season and the end. Poor Ally feels so depressed, it shows how it's hard for the single women, how there are ups and downs... Really great and still funny, though Ally feels depressed at the end. I think it's the part which represents the most the state of the modern single women, the questions asked to themselves. But it's great because it shows that the state is not hopeless and that we don't need a man to be happy!

Ally and the crew from the hit TV series Ally McBeal have surparsed themselves yet again in this latest set of instalments. Following the stories from Season 2 Box Set 1, Cage and Nelle get it on, Ally is as nerotic as ever (and don't we just love her for it), plenty of guest stars singing in the bar and some of the most rediculous lawsuits you have ever heard. Wouldn't you just love to work their, I know I would. This is a must for all Ally fans!!!!!

At the start of Series Two of the Boston law firm drama, nothing much had changed at Richard Fish's rather kooky establishment. Ally (Calista Flockhart) was still a skinny, whimsical woman-child looking for Mr Right. Billy (Gil Bellows) was still married to Georgia (Courtney Thorne-Smith), John Cage (Peter McNicol) was still too eccentric to be considered for romantic involvement, Elaine (Jane Krakowski) was still a nosey meddler and Fish (Greg Germann) himself was still looking for ways to make money. Lots of it. Greed prompts him to hire new litigator Nelle (Portia DiRossi), a tall, blonde power-dresser who leaves the other women bristling in her wake. But their antipathy towards their new colleague is nothing compared to the forces of hatred spiky Ling (Lucy Liu) inspires. Before long John (The Biscuit) and Nelle are embarking on a tempestuous romance, Ally is stealing Elaine's new boyfriend before going out with one of Georgia's exes and Billy begins to show the signs of instability which lead to him to bleach his hair blonde in the following season. Ally's outspoken flatmate Renee (Lisa Nicole Carson) got a welcome increase in her time on screen in this second season. Despite the sheer number of episodes David E Kelley and his team turn around each year, this second series consistently provided entertaining viewing to the last, despite--or perhaps because of--some of the characters being so unlikable. The inter-office banter reached new heights of inventive bitchiness, the comic CGI illustrations of Ally's imagination still felt reasonably fresh and the court cases managed to combine oddity with emotional involvement. All in all this group of dysfunctional and rather incestuous workaholics proved curiously engaging yet again. --Emma Perry

The start of Ally's best ever year!!.......2002-09-21

Season 2 of Ally McBeal is by far the best. Scripts with an edge and actors to match this season gives us nelle (portia de rossi) and ling (lucy liu) two fantastic characters. Storylines involve ling being wonderfully nasty, nelle being the ice queen and the introduction of stefan (just watch and see that bit). The whole thing reeks of class with a fresh feeling that later seasons lacked a little. Calista Flockhart is brilliant with good comic timing and dramatic. Peter MacNicol is brilliant as john and if you didn't like ally you could watch the show for him All in all this boxset is fantastic value and truly essential (along with part 2 of course.) the series looks great on dvd too so it really is a must buy

More cracking comedy from the strangest law firm on TV.......2002-04-13

This series carries on from the excellent first by introducing the beautiful characters Nelle and Ling. They bring new hilarious new story lines, both girls get involved with the senior partenrs of Ally's firm, Richard and John. Though, being Ally McBeal, neither relationship is what you could call normal.
The episodes are hilarious with, both funny and moving story lines, from the death of a judge to antics of Stefan the frog.
A must for all fans of the hit tv show. Watching it makes you want to see more.

It is an enjoyable video with lots of laughs. it sees the joining of Nell and Ling into the series and it is a joy to see all the ups and downs of working at Cage and Fish.

I wasnt sure how this would be as they intoduced all new characters but this is the best yet. The first series was great but this is even better. Story lines are brilliant and the cast just get better and better. I would advise anyone to invest in this.

Ally McBeal - The best show to come out of America.......2001-03-09

I have been watching Ally McBeal since it first started. My initial thoughts were what a weird name. Thats because it is a weird program. If you want fast comerdy and side spliting one liners, from the fastest law firm in Boston then this is for you. Ally McBeal has never underestimated my expectations, espically Season 2. I think it is the best comerdy ever made and if you watch this you will too.

if you missed this first time around on tv, then shame on you. You have missed one of the finest dramas (in its early stages anyway) that was on tv in the late 90s. Laughter, tears, romance, it has the lot.

Or at least the internet. Found out from the US amazon.com that the series is available in the UK, but not in the states. Ridiculous! So buy this while you can, and pity us poor yanks who can't get our own - or if we did buy it here, couldn't watch it on our pathetic single-region DVD players. Hopefully Fox/DEK will get a clue and release them here!

Wow!.......2003-06-19

All I can say is: WOW! I was not going to buy this second part to the first series, but after buying the first half to find out how it all began, I could not resist! I thought that the first boxset was good, but this series just gets better as it goes on; I cannot wait to start watching the second. Ally Mcbeal is everything you could want from a television show: dramatic, funny, sad (sometimes simultaneously!) However, it is the comedy that shines above the rest; this is one funny show! If, like me, you're a fan of John 'The Biscuit' Cage, you will be pleased to know that he appears much more in these later episodes than some of the earlier ones. I'll say it again: Wow!

Having never been a fan of the series when it first aired, I was sceptical that I would enjoy Ally McBeal when it was repeated in the UK. But quickly I found myself hooked. All the characters are so masterfully written, that I found myself blubbing in front of the TV for no less than 20 minutes when we (yes, we) lost Billy. It's the only thing the producers of the show got wrong. Billy shouldn't have been killed off (although I understand he chose not to renew his contract with the show), he and Ally should have got back together after he and Georgia divorced. And his brief encounter with his PA, Sandy? What was that?! It was clear from the pilot episode that Ally and Billy were soul mates. She'll never find anyone like him. I guess I'm like Ally in alot of ways... A sucker for a happy ending, everyone finding "the one" and living happily ever after..... Except I don't hear Al Green in my head. Fantastic show!

For the emotional waifs amongst us this is nothing less than a white knuckle ride, thanks god for the corsett to prevent my sides from splitting and the box of kleenex to mop the tears.
