She'll be Wearing Pink Pyjamas (1984) epitomises the early work of the FilmFour brand: solid productions, usually awash with issues, a strong dose of prickly humour and a reliable ensemble of British character actors. This tale of female bonding concerns a miscellaneous group of women thrown together on an Outward Bound course. They've all come for their own reasons--men (the lack of, or to escape from), midlife crisis, feelings of now-or-never--and as the course escalates, these are discovered and shared. Even the rather tiresome and bossy course leader has a moment of revelation. Think Steel Magnolias in a tent.
Will they make it? The bonding scenes are sufficiently well counterpointed by the wet and muddy action to keep you guessing. There are plenty of laughs to keep the clichés at bay, although John Goldschmidt's direction could have been tighter. The performances, led by Julie Walters at her most attention-seeking, are good and often touching. All in all this is a brittle but warm-hearted little comedy about optimism and survival.

Planet Corduroy is the first DVD brought out by the award-winning stand-up comedian Marcus Brigstocke (of We Are History, News Knight, Have I Got News For You and BBC Radio 4's The Now Show).
Directed by Geoff Posner (Little Britain) and recorded at the Shaw Theatre, the show is sprinkled with Brigstocke's idiosyncratic brand of liberal politics and satirical humour, with issues ranging from climate change, religious extremism, immigration and loans companies to compensation culture, women's magazines, The EU and David Blaine - and his own battle against his middle class roots. It's side-splitting and intelligent stuff.

What a beautiful funny man.......2008-02-21
I first saw Marcus Brigstocke in The Savages on TV. He played this awkward husband. Then he was in Love, Actually, this awkward DJ. So I ordered the DVD because I love awkwardness and I have one of those all-regions players and it's February in Canada, which is dreary and crap.
I laughed non-stop at Planet Corduroy. He's brilliant but in a most subtle way. There's something about his pauses, and his shy wide-eyed I'm-a-very-foolish-person finishes. I love it when he gets mad at his neighbour (who blocked his extension) because the man doesn't really do mad. He's not scary, just indignant and fizzing and then he quiets down.
Plus corduroy is funny. Intrinsically, like Brigstocke. That's Max Gogarty right there.
The Extra (Gap Year Tour) is wonderful.
Sorry for the superlatives. Can't explain why, but I was shrieking, and so will you be.

Marcus Brigstocke is absolutely hilarious. This DVD had me in stitches from start to finish, well worth it! The man is quite simply a genius!

I had high hopes for this DVD, but if you've seen him at the apollo with Jack Dee theres no point in purchasing this.
Its pretty much the same material with a couple more thrown in.
I didnt like the way it was shot either, strange camera angles..

I love this man, He is just so funny! This is observational comedy at its best, I love the jokes about Londoners, they are just so true! I only discovered Marcus a few weeks ago on YouTube and I had to buy his DVD. This is without a doubt some of the funniest stand-up I've ever seen.

This DVD is great with every episode brillient but it takes the shine of of this DVD come 6 months time all these episodes will be on the season boxsets. But if you can't wait that long..........like me to own who shot mr. burns i would urge you to buy it 5 stars is very fair but i'd recomend waiting untill season 7 boxset is out

Cooool!! Another of the endless Simpson classics DVDs. Contains four episodes from different seasons, including the fantastic, 'Who Shot Mr.Burns?' episodes, as i'm sure you've heard Mr.Burns gets shot and luckily survives, but who did the crime? Wait untill you find out, and you will if you simply buy this fantastic DVD to add to your collection. Great, just like all the other Simpson DVDs, this one will have you sitting on the edge of your seat! Great graphics, 1 disc- don't let this get you down, just buy it!!

A must for any simpsons fan, CAPE FEARE has to be the best episode ever!!! Trust me you will want to watch this again and again. Sideshow Bob is fantasic and Homer does he's best at being stupid. You will sorry not to own this.

Meandering slow paced rom-com.......2008-02-25
I bought this DVD because it was cheap. I had low expectations. They were met. This was a very slow meandering film that seemed to lose pace and plot about 20 minutes in and never really recovered. The only enjoyable element was the eminently watchable and comedic Mark Ruffalo who managed to raise the level of the film from the truly awful to the marginally entertaining.

If you are having trouble sleeping then this is definitely the film for you... I needed matchsticks in the end to keep my eyes open. I think they were trying for something a bit quirky but failed miserably. Mark Ruffalo is great as the back up man but doesn't have enough charisma to lead a film. To be honest the film could have 30 minutes shorter and it was only an 1hr 20 anyway...
