American view of Korea.......2007-05-28

This is an American documentary about the Korean War, an as can be expected it is far from impartial and balanced.

The documentary covers a bit of Korean politics just before the war, to explain why and how the war started. It appears that US fears of a South Korean invasion of the North had led them to disarm some of their military forces; a plan that backfired once the North attacked the South.

There is quite a bit of information in this documentary and a lot of great combat footage. However, there is also a shortage of information as well as a shortage of views from the other side. Not one single North Korean soldier or civilian, nor one single South Korean soldier or civilian, nor one single Chinese soldier is heard in this documentary. That is except for the president of South Korea, Syngman Rhee, who appears a few times to praise American support and war effort.

There is an interesting coverage about the final negotiations and American politics, with the election of Eisenhower as president, as important parts.

To conclude, I cannot recommend purchase of this DVD since this is a rather poor production overall. The biased American view of things also gets tiresome.
