Awesome.......2007-08-24

I first bought this DVD after hearing the wonderland album and being totally shocked at the band that I always stero-typed as four guys who couldnt really play or sing that well, were actually playing amazing pop/rock songs. After watching this dvd, I became a huge fan and have been devoted to them ever since.
The band put on an incredible show and it is captured amazingly in this DVD along with hilarious backstage footage including a fruit fight. Tom Fletchers solo of she falls asleep is both breathtaking and tear jerking.
If in doubt about this band, buy this DVD and you'll be very surprised.
I'd reccomend it to anyone who wants to watch a high energy show with great pop rock songs and talented singers!

Definitely Rock, not Pop!!.......2007-05-05

I have always been quite a tentative McFly fan as their stereotype fan seems to be a screaming teenage girl, however I'm slowly finding that there are many more guys like me - who play the guitar - and actually like them. This DVD typifies what McFly are about, energy, enthusiasm, excitement and you know what? they play their own instruments and are pretty Damn good at them!! I massively wish I could have been in the crowd, but this DVD is the next best thing, and it's really good! A boy band they may be, but so are Oasis, Hard Fi, Snow patrol and Megadeth!

Being a McFly Fan i bought this as soon as i found some spare change, i was especially excited about this as i had seen them live on the same tour (though in Belfast)which was amazing and this helped bring back memories of then and entertaining in its own right.

Any McFly fan should buy this and even a few who arent too sure about them this might change your mind in thier favour

I thought this DVD was awesome i've borrowed it from a friend and im definately going to buy it!!! It's worth it. There are some extra songs in the concert, they were great. Makes me wanna go and see them live!! Backstage footage. And pictures. Very Funny. If your a fan of McFly Buy it!!!!

THE UNGOVERNABLE FORCE.......2007-07-16

(One of) the most political Anarcho-Punk bands of all time finally release a DVD and it doesn't disappoint. The first in a planned series of DVD's with sections of live appearances that range from The Electric Ballroom in'86 up to The Underworld in'04, going via the (in)famous Brixton Academy gig of '87 with Steve Ignorant, it's got everything you want and shows that Conflict are still as hard hitting and thought provoking as ever. Although the sound and vision quality may vary, it's never what i'd call 'bad'. With 50+ songs over 2 discs and 4 hours playing time, it certainly is value for money. This compilation proves that Conflict are as relivent today as they ever were and, if i had one complaint, it would be that the clips from the forthcoming video album There's No Power Without Control are a wind up because you just want to see the whole thing! But as it's not yet out, this will more than do, so, if you like your punk hard and poliitical, BUY THIS COMPILATION!!

It's good for what it is.......2006-01-14

Firstly, people who purchase this should know in advance what they're getting. The packaging of this DVD set makes clear that it is "unofficial", that no members of the Cure participate in it, that it is not a "concert" or "promotional video" collection, and that, in it, music is secondary to discussion.

Setting your expectations at the appropriate level, you'll most likely find this a worthwhile purchase - it is, at least, superior to the similar "Out Of The Woods" DVD.

Having seen several of these "music in review" DVDs, I can say that this is one of the better ones. As usual it doesn't quite make the best of its short running time. It devotes too much time to discussion of certain songs, whilst overlooking others more worthy of analysis. It also suffers to some degree from the self-repetition and banal statements of interviewees. What justifies it, then? Mainly, the amusing divergences of opinion between Natscha Scharf (manager of the Meltdown TV website and proud "goth") and the editor of Classic Rock Magazine (anxious to disassociate himself and the Cure from "goth" culture). Scharf emerges as the most informed critic and most skilled public speaker here.
The enclosed booklet - track-by-track discussion of Cure albums by Fall biographer Mick Middles - is well-written in places but suffers from the absence of a proofreader, as it is riddled with uncorrected printing errors: misprints, misquotes and mysteriously missing words and phrases. One mistake that can be definitely be blamed on the author: he appears to have confused the songs `Cold' and `Airlock'!
Responding to previous Amazon reviewers - fans of the album `The Top' will be gratified by the ten minutes' airtime granted to it. Much-criticized, but considered an underrated classic by some fans - it at least documents a strange and interesting time in Cure-history, and the Channel 4 TV performances of songs from it were worth rescuing from the vaults.
The use of tribute band Insecure in place of the real thing may be disappointing, but at least they sound convincingly like the Cure (which can't be said, for instance, of the tribute bands on the DTK record label) and their selection of songs can hardly be faulted.

I will keep this short and bitter. I'm a huge cure fan, love them to bits. But this DVD is utter rott! I didnt realise this until i put the DVD on. A band called 'insecure' mindlessly murder the cure's classics, whilst a load of random *music folk talk about the cure *a goth girl and some rather dodgy session musicians, whom have no link to any band, never mind the cure. The because the have only got a cagey performance of the cure from 1984, the 1984 album The Top becomes the most important of all. Which for the record is rather average, even for a manci fan like me.

All Lost in the Supermarket.......2007-06-12

This is a repackage of the Clash London Calling DVD - Rock Milestones.
It does have an extra DVD ..which just has an interview with a very dapper looking Terry (Dr.) Chimes. This is a bit strange..as questions appear on the screen...then cut to Terry to answer them. It really doesn't allow the thing to flow at all...why not ask him the questions...and let him talk a bit??? Who knows.....
You also get a book which is part of the packaging ...like the groovy Up Close and Personal DVD...but this is a brief history of the band...with some not so well known colour pictures and a track by track star rating.
My first impression of the packaging was that it looked like one of the LadyBird books I had when I was a kid...but we didn't get as good a subject matter as the Clash!!!

Despite the extra DVD and book..still think a little over priced...and being the anorak I am...I found a minor error in the author's text about Lost in the Supermarket..over to you traininvainspotters

Good DVD & Book!!.......2007-12-20

This is one of my favorite music DVD's that I own. Great insight into the times when Bowie was at his peak. The book has extened interviews with friends and "The Spiders From Mars" members that shed new info on one of rocks greatest stars. The music is (of course) awesome on the DVD. The track selection from "Space Oddity" up to "Diamond Dogs" is some of his best work. This is something every Bowie fan needs in their collection.
