Fantastic.......2007-01-31
Most of the rewiews agree that the music is one of the best KC incarnations but most complain against the poor video. I was in a concert of that tour in Madrid and the video is not poor, the stage was pretty dark. So the DVD shows what really happened it Tokyo
OK.......2004-10-21
The visual definition is rather poor, the lighting while artistic it is in my opinion very annoying, too many shadows, too dark. As a musician I really wanted to see what they were playing at all times, see their hands!
The performances are very good but in my opinion the double trio misses some of the energy achieved with the quartet during the eighties. In particular Larks II is a very weak interpretation, too fast but no punch, but Sleepless is no doubt the best song of this DVD, it gets your hairs on edge!
I want to recommed their new DVD Neal and Jack and me, excellent stuff!
Strong music, weaker visuals.......2003-12-01
I have a CD of this gig, and I've loved it for quite a while now. But having the live experience on DVD just takes it to another level. It is - as always - complex, cerebral, brutal, harsh, atonal, funky, sensitive, emotional, undescribable music.
King Crimson are a phenomenal band, the only good thing to have come out of the Prog Rock genre (and they're barely prog now) and I can say that, although you lose a little of the atmosphere, this dvd is a great representation of the double trio on stage.
On the down side, the picture quality would be poor for video. The concert was recorded on all digital cameras at a point in time when the technology was not on a par with analogue. The haze of colour around the performers from stage lighting poorly compensated for the camera operators is immensely frustrating. That said, everything else (and I do mean everything) is fantastic, so it's easy to forget about the visuals.
I particularly liked the audio/video angles (the performer whose angle you choose is boosted in the mix and moves to the centre). It would have been fantastic if this had been available on every track, but I guess this would have been a) a load of work and b) take up a ton of space on the disk.
Overall, if you're into prog, post rock, math rock, thinking metal or experimental music then this is worth a go.
I haven't seen their other dvd yet, but it promises to be even better.
P.S: Just because they're all middle aged doesn't mean they're not cool. I'm 20 and I've loved this band for 4 or 5 years now.
jims report.......2003-04-25
This music DVD is without doubt the best one in my collection as it combines both rock and intricate modern music at the same time.
I would put this concert on a par with any to date and highly recommend it to any one who is musically oriented whether a musician or fan.
KC stunning live set plus full use of DVD format for extras.......2001-01-09
This DVD was the reason I bought a DVD player and I wasn't disappointed. Of the dozen or so music DVD's I've subsequently bought none match up to this. For starters we get a double sided DVD with an entire concert from the 1995 double trio King Crimson in top form. This appears essentially the same as the 1995 video of this performance - however sound and picture quality are superb plus there are mutiple camera angles, using vector patrol you get to decide which of the 6 band members the camera will bias towards during the concert. In addition a number of bonus features exist, a hidden solo soundscape by Robert Fripp, a feature to mix and match vocal, rhythm and lead from 4 different KC incarnations performing 21st Century Schizoid Man, home movies of the tour by Tony Levin and for those with a DVD-ROM a .pdf file of the extensive (180 page) booklets from all KC CD boxsets. In fact this DVD has so many features that you'll never realise them all at the first sitting but will keep going back again and again. The DVD overall is beautifully packaged both externally and onscreen with menus incorporating artwork by PJ Crook. Overall I would say if you would have to buy any single music DVD and you like the band then this is the only purchase you should make (I paid £22 for this last year and at it's current price it's an absolute bargain).

Truly awesome !.......2008-03-12
This low budget [zombie] movie has it all. Blood splatter, gore you name it. Although the story line is nothing special, this is an entertaining flick, which keeps up the pace. Highly recommended!
