Entourage is everything viewers have come to expect from an HBO series: smart, hilarious, and highly addictive, especially when taken in full-season, DVD form. As implied in the title, the show follows Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), a rising Hollywood star with bedroom eyes and an over-active libido, along with his three childhood companions-turned-hangers-on. Kevin Dillon plays Johnny Drama, Vincent's less-attractive, B-list actor of a brother (he is Matt Dillon's less-attractive, B-list actor of a brother in real life). Jerry Ferrara plays Turtle, the weasel, and Kevin Connolly appears as Eric, the Everyman hero who hopes to parlay his friendship with Vincent (plus two years of community college) into a career in talent management. Along the way Eric contends with the predictable self-doubt, romantic indecision, etc. The cast is rounded out by Jeremy Piven (Doug Hughley from Singles) as a foul-mouthed agent reminiscent of Jay Mohr's short-lived Peter Dragon character. Finally, it's produced by Marky Mark himself--and you've got to believe that guy knows something about the star-entourage relationship. If possible, watch with a friend so you'll have someone to quote lines back to later. --Leah Weathersby
The most clever thing producers did with the second season of Entourage, HBO's hip and hilariously accurate depiction of Hollywood, was to take the boys out of Hollywood. Sending star-on-the-rise Vincent Chase and his boys from Queens into places like Sundance and ComiCon created a whole new treasure trove of inside jokes, and for that we thank them. The usual clutter of celeb cameos abound (Hugh Hefner, Pauly Shore, Ralph Macchio,), but one main story arc takes up the entire season: Vincent's casting in Aquaman, the big-budget movie he didn't want to star in, and then had to vie against Leonardo DiCaprio to get. Mandy Moore turns up as the only girl who ever broke Vince's heart (on the set of A Walk to Remember, allegedly) and now re-enters his life as his Aquagirl, while James Cameron makes a few appearances as director of the superhero project. In the meantime, Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) goes from moocher to music manager, Eric (Kevin Connolly) gets courted to be a big-time agent, and Johnny "Drama" (Kevin Dillon, ever the punchline) ponders calf implants and gets fired from a "Movie of the Week" with Brooke Shields. The biggest turn of events, however, happens to Vince's slick agent Ari Gold (an Emmy-worthy Jeremy Piven), who pulls a "Jerry Maguire" by the end of the season. Ari's ability to switch sides on a dime -- that is, to choke up at his daughter's batmitzvah, then manipulate the family moment into a publicity stunt to lure his client away from a rival, continues to make Piven the firecracker of the bunch. Grenier is slightly less vacuous than last season, but still has the least interesting personality (which could be the point of the show--that it takes a village to make any Joe Actor into a movie star). One interesting extra on the DVD: Executive Producer Mark Wahlberg, on whom the show is based, interviews the cast and producers. The banter is interesting enough, but Wahlberg makes such a dull interviewer it's certain we won't see a talk-show host career in Vince's future. --Ellen A. Kim

A fun show.......2008-02-12
This is a fast paced funny show that follows movie star Vincent and his friends who are his entourage. It shows the trials and tribulations of a movie star and his best friend trying to look after him and his interests. Be warned though the first season only has eight episodes and each episodes is only 25 minutes long. That is the reason why I havent given it 5 stars and the extras are not the best. If you don't have a lot of time to watch a huge season of drama and you want something fun, then this is definatley worth a look.

What can I say.
I didn't watch this show when it first aired on TV but happened to catch a repeat one night when nothing else was on.From watching that one episode I went out and bought both Series 1&2.

As a huge fan of American television, sitcoms, dramas and comedies, it's very hard to find a show that you feel you can watch over and over again without getting bored. Yes, you have Curb, Arrested Development and Scrubs, but every once in a while there comes a show that is simply better than all the rest. That show is Entourage.
Superb characters, Jeremy Piven is easily the best as Ari Gold actually based on the real life manager of Seinfeld and Curb sensation, Larry David. The story and flow of the series gel together along with witty comments, drama (no pun intended) and just an overall awesome series.
The show isn't all about the laughs, in typical HBO fashion, it swims along with a adult theme that makes the show feel 'grown up'. Give it a try, you'll be buying Season 2 in no time...

funny quick paced drama. The characters are brilliant and youll immediately feel connected to them. Piven as Ari gold is amazin and has the funniest one liners and put downs ever. Get series one and two you will love it. I am desperate for series 3 to come out

A Good Start.......2005-11-17
Entourage would be an easy programme to dislike, it seems to pander to the current fascination with all things celebrity. And that is how it begins with more emphasis on the celebrity guests than the later episodes. The strength of the show however is in the relationship between the group of friends and the dialogue between them. In this it's very much like Swingers the dialogue is quotable rather than laugh out loud funny and you can imagine if it ever got shown over here some of the lines would be heard in pubs every weekend. The problem is the dialogue and relationships grow much stronger in the second series and the first one just isn't as good. It's still good though and the soundtracks would be fantastic.

Just discussed with a friend that at least so far the show seemed real, at least in the setting of movie star California. There are no forbidden loves and no hidden love childs and with Mark Wahlberg producing and admitting that there is a certain realsim to the show I would like to see the continuation of season two.
Great drama of the Hollywood Dream.......2005-09-15
I don't think this show ever aired in the UK, but it really should be picked up by a Terrestrial British network - it is that good. Almost the anti-Sex and the City, Entourage follows megastar Vincent Chace, and his 'entourage' - his failed actor older brother Johnny Drama, useless old school-friend Turtle, and his best-friend-cum-manager E, as they move from the mean-streets of Queens to the bright lights of Hollywood.
Slickly produced in the best HBO tradition, it is lent an air of authenticity by being Exec Produced by "Dirk Diggler" Marky Mark, a man renowned for his own bevvy of hangers-on. It is to the show's credit that it doesn't lose itself in the sea of scantily-clad women and fantasy parties, but instead boasts impressive plot and character development, using the backdrop of Hollywood debauchery as the show's style, rather than its substance.
Special mention must go to Jeremy Piven (of "Swingers" fame) as Vincent's quick-talking, hyper-arrogant agent. He steals the show in every scene he's in, and can always be counted on to bring out the best work from the other actors - often their gobsmacked facial impressions seem to be more than merely acting...
Destined to become to the male populace what Sex and the City was to women (and about time we had our revenge), its a hugely impressive and amusing romp - highly recommended.
