Superb.......2007-12-31
Even better than the first series, Dennis Haysbert is phenomenal, good storylines without giving too much away, watch the unit a must for every fan.
Bigger budget brings better sense of perspective to The Unit.......2007-12-05
Although this reviewer was already very impressed by the quality of the writing and attention to detail of the first series of CBS's 'The Unit', I was pleased to see that the producers had secured a bigger slice of the financial cake to expand the 'world' in which this shadowy outfit operates, allowing for a greater diversity of terrain and characters. Although already on top of their game militarily speaking, the guys - and gals - of the 303rd Logistical Studies Group are at breaking point; Mack's promise to Tiffy that he would not re-enlist becomes a u-turn, and the fall-out has consequences for their children; Bob and Kim face a crisis when he is 'tapped-up' by a government agency; and Colonel Ryan's decision to marry in haste allows him to repent at leisure. On the real battlefield, the action sequences are well-written and, as always, the attention to detail is great. The best of the episodes deals with Bob's attempt to survive after a helicopter crash while reflecting on his experiences during Selection, while the weakest is set in a garden centre that ostensibly passes for Borneo, and unintentional laughs ensue. Hence, the loss of a star; but don't let that put you off - this is thoughful, well-written blokes' telly that also retains an appeal for the ladies.
Bigger budget and entertaining but ..........2007-11-22
The entertainment is guaranteed.
The budget, as far as I understand, is bigger than the first series but...
Well I still prefer "Ultimate force" even though it was a lower budget production.
The reason is that I'm bored to see the americans feel the need to let anybody know that they're the best in doing anything (not only military I mean) and that there's nobody like them and that the rest of the world are just dumb and need teaching.
I'm not saying that their spec. forces are not good; they are; seals, d force and whatever but let we not forget that there are other countries which
have got good (and better) ones: Great Britain SAS, Germany GSG9, France La Legion (crap of 2eme REP)- GIGN, Epign, Italy Comsubin, GIS, Russia Spetznatz, etcetera etcetera.
The SAS was born before the d force (and is renown in the whole world), the GSG9 was born before the d force, the NOCS and GIs were born before
etc..
So I guess nobody has to learn anything from the americans.
Beyond that, I find this series very nice though, if you take as it is,
like a Bruce Willis movie (Die hard, for one) but I wouldn't rank it more than three stars.
PS: skip the "Games of Chance" episode, you may find it "insulting", as it was the last episode of the first serie.
PPS: How come every actor in the serie is always blinking when shooting, specially handguns? Can't they do some target parctice before shooting a scene? In order to get used to the "bang"? If you notice every stuntman does not as they're accustomed to it.
Real d force wouldn't blink, that's for sure.
Bye
DON'T SPOIL THE ENDING IN YOUR REVIEWS!!!.......2007-11-15
Please don't talk about the series' ending plot in your reviews as any one reading them PROBABLY hasn't yet seen the programme and doesn't want to know!!!

Does it get better than this?.......2007-11-06
So far so good. I love the storyline and all the plots that come with it. This series is even better than series 1. I've already seen it six times and still can't get enough of it. The only bit i didn't like is the ending where the team is trouble and they split up with Rob joining the agency and Jonas doing a runner whilst the others end up in jail.
This is a must watch series if you love action and suspense.
