Empty and pretentious.......2007-04-25
Funny how two people viewing the same film can have two completely different opinions. 'Love in Thoughts' (dumb title for a dumb film)seemed to me vacuous, pointless and incredibly dull. The story is thin and the predictable ending a long, long time coming. The leads are cyphers not characters, much of the dialogue is crass or portentious and the attractive cast do little more than pout, glower or stare moodily into the middle-distance - it would've taken a River Phoenix to make anything out of this leaden nonsense. The shooting style is arty/pretentious and the pace is the wrong side of slow, not helped by the occasional use of slow motion for no obvious reason - as if the film weren't slow enough! You'd be more challanged, absorbed and entertained watching a turkey cook in an oven.
A Superb Cast Carry this Atmospheric Film of Confused Young Love.......2006-07-29
Günther and Paul are convinced that life must be lived to the fullest and without compromise - they demand the same of love. Together with Günther's sister, Hilde, they set out for a sultry, summer weekend in Günther and Hilde's country home. Paul is fascinated by Hilde and falls in love with her. Hilde, however, can't be pinned down by this handsome and sensative young suitor as her capsity for love is far too large for just one. She slips off to secretly meet with Hans - Günther's former lover and now one of hers.
Their friends arrive and an all night party begins. Hans can't resist joining the party, though he knows that Günther has never really gotten over him. High on music and real Absinth, emotions and desires mix with jealousies to create a deadly pact.
Daniel Brühl (Germany's answer to Jake Gyllenhaal) leads this young, talented and attractive cast in this beautifully crafted film based on a true story.

yoga with kisen.......2005-08-27
this is a really great video.i have bought quite a few and this one is like a proper class, with great instruction, reminders about how to syncronise the breath, and a challenging session that you can grow into.i do it everyday and have learnt so much.
i want it back!.......2005-08-10
I had this dvd a couple of years ago, and loved it! some of the poses are very challenging, and no wonder it takes 8 years to do!! but the whole flow of the dvd made it go quickly, with the wonderful corpse pose at the end to completely relax you - the best yoga dvd I owned - then I lent it out, and never got it back!!
i do beleive this dvd was the most effective muscle toner & flexibilty improving one I have tried, leaving me feeling like I have done a good work out - and his guidance is great.
now awaiting my new copy with anticipation!
Very good if a little short........2005-02-24
I bought this dvd to use inconjuction with a class that I go to. I find his manner and style encouraging and to be honest, dont really notice the setting as I am too busy concentrating on the moves. What I love about this dvd is that he spends enough time on the sun salutations and the standing postures to really create a lot of heat in the muscles and so it makes an energising and satisfying workout. The commentary is very smooth and the postures run from one to the next without interrupting the flow. I'm not that keen on the abdominal excercises, but only because I find them quite challenging and would prefer more of the first half and less of the second. Good for beginners and more experienced people, although it may not be challenging enough for those who have practice ashtanga regularly for a long time.
A comparitively simple, dynamic session.......2004-11-10
A very useful guide for practitioners who would like to build up a home based, dynamic practise. The routine is not as advanced as Ashtanga Primary Series, though neither is it as relaxed as a Barbara Currie Iyengar based beginners session.
Kisen's presentation is unpretentious compared to many similar video yogi's, he uses simple explanations, and doesn't become too irritating when you've had the tape on hundreds of times.
Not reccomended for those seeking a spiritual guide. Kisen does not refer to the Sanskrit or much of the theory behind the practise, but by calling it 'Yoga For Weight Loss', I think he is more than suggesting his aims. It inspired my practise and changed my view on yoga several years ago and I would certainly reccommend it.
Great if you have experience of yoga.......2004-03-15
I bought this video after using a beginners video for a few months. At first I was very disheartened as I found the video a bit quick paced. However, if you take the time to watch the sequences through before diving straight in, it ends up being a really good routine. I do agree with some of the comments made in an earlier review about the plough. If you have not practiced the plough before, this can be dangerous and almost impossible but Kisen does advise you to watch the sequence before attempting it. I'm definitely improving each time I use this video and think it is a video that i will continue to improve with. If you are looking for a video that will last for years to come, this is it. If you expect to master the postures within the first few attempts I'd advise you to pick a different video.
