A Perfect Yoga Experience.......2007-11-11

This will give you the most holistic yoga experience. It is challenging at all levels, allowing personal progression into poses, flowing movements and relaxation techniques.

I have used the video version of this for some years and find it does exactly what Ali McGraw says, that it helps to quiet the mind. It gives the most fantastic feeling of achievement and that you have switched off from your day.

I have bought the DVD version to upgrade to current technology and would recommend this to anyone. Please don't let the production date put you off buying this DVD, it has been made in beautiful settings, with narrative that is extremely easy on the ears and great music, making it very contemporary.

If you want a Yoga DVD...look no further as this IS what Yoga is about. The Sun Salutations along with the standing sequences will give you a fabulous workout....as for the rest of the DVD.....FABULOUS. I highly recommend this to anyone. This really is the best you will get. Do yourself a favour; buy this DVD.

Challenging, relaxing and beautiful.......2006-02-13

When I first bought this (actually on video, but the same content) I'd been doing Hatha yoga for about 5 years and was surprised to find this video quite challenging in terms of muscle strength and stamina. However, I still found it nicely made and worth doing, despite it being a little too much for me at the time.

I've found that many yoga classes are taught at a beginners to lower intermediate level, meaning that students are not learning fresh material or deepening their practice after they've been going for a year or more. However, my current yoga teacher has taken our class on something of a journey and we have learned new positions, new flows, and to work at a pace which necessitates the building of stamina. I am loving it!! After regularly attending this class I went back to this video, and now find it quite within my range.

The video contains sun salutation, some warrior stances, a tree, the bridge, forward bends, probably a few things I've forgotten, and a relaxation at the end, and lasts about an hour. The intro is thankfully minimal. I think the content may be based on the Ashtanga 1st series but I'm not an expert on different forms.

The scenery and music is beautiful and relaxing, and if you are already moderately familiar with the poses you will find the instruction very easy to follow. They do tell you what to do, but the instruction is done as it would be in a class where most pupils are familiar with that class's repertoire. If you haven't done much yoga you would need to watch the DVD through several times before attempting to perform it, to learn what you're supposed to do, or (more sensibly) buy a CD aimed more at beginners. (For beginners I can wholeheartedly recommend Barbara Currie's DVDs and books, but they are dull once you have a basic proficiency because she explains everything.)

So... if you're intermediate this is a brilliant DVD, which you will enjoy performing many many times.

Very clear and precise instruction, good for the beginer and for yoga enthusiasts. The setting is stunning enhanced by soothing music. You never seem to bore with this workout, i've thoroughly enjoyed it for several years. I shall now be buying it in DVD format!!
