great and challenging toning workout.......2007-07-20
I really enjoyed this DVD. It's true there could be more cardio and the music is an odd choice, but other then that I really think it's brilliant.
The Instructor explains well and you can see what Isabella is doing at all times. The lunges and squats are hard (and I am used to Nell McAndrews Workouts and Davina's, lol) but the way they are done they are really "kneefriendly".
There is need for any equipment whatsoever and you don't need much space, which is a big plus. It's easy to do, no learning of routine or anything...!
Isabella doesn't say much, which is good, because once you have done a DVD umptiest times it can get annoying, lol.
So, all in all it has got thumbs up:)
Great all round workout.......2007-06-20
I really like this workout, I alternate it with Davina's Power of 3 which is also great. The squats and lunges are a killer - so many and so intense! This DVD works you all over - legs, bum, arms, abs and core and I do think it has got cardio - the running bit nearly kills me off! The only bad thing about it is the cool down, I just can't get into the positions that Isabella gets into and so I end up doing Davina's cool down.
Effective But Boring.......2007-03-30
I got this DVD to use as a change from Davinia's 30 minute workouts and Isabella's DVD got good reviews here so I thought I'd try it.
There's a warm-up, then leg exercises (such as squats and lunges) with some short cardio bursts (like running on the spot, fast and slow). After that there's some arm work (mainly press-ups), as well as lots of sit-ups and some floor leg exercises. The whole thing takes just under an hour if you do the cool-down as well.
Good points: The instructor is clear and demonstrates things to you before you do them and tells you how many you will do. Isabella barely speaks the whole way through which is great, as with repeated views, inane babbling gets on my nerves in Davinia's DVD (thank goodness for the mute button). This really feels like you're getting a good workout and it's not easy to do the whole way through the first time. It's also good that you get different views to the positions to make sure you are doing them properly.
Some quibbles: the music is really dull and there's not enough cardio or enough arm exercises. More than anything, although it's a good workout, it's just a bit boring. I like to look forward to doing a workout DVD, and this I don't.
Good workout to good music!.......2007-03-25
Having read the previous comments I felt I had to add my bit as I felt many comments were unfair. This is a fantastic workout. I'm fairly fit but this pushes me more than any other DVD or fitness class I've ever done. There are lots of squats and other good cardio exercises. They're repeated a lot but on the plus side this is what makes it such a good toning and fat burning workout.
The music is fantastic, Gorrilaz, can't think of any others but that sort of style. It really kept me motivated.
The highest praise I can give the DVD is that Isabella hardly says a word throughout. I have Davina's one and she irritates the hell out of me with her dull "look at me" comments and dramatic laying on the ground when it gets a bit tough. Isabella does the full workout under the guidance of the instructor who gives good clear instructions, he counts down to the next exercise and there's a split screen view so you can get your posture perfect by seeing the exercise done from both front and side views. You also see Isabella do the full workout and by the end of it she's all red faced and sweaty. It's refreshing to see a celeb not looking her best.
The length of the session is perfect, a good warm up and cool down.
I recommend this to anyone who is used to working out. It would be too tough for a beginner. You'll still be aching though!
I hope Isabella does another one-I'd definitely buy it.
Very Good Toning Workout!.......2007-03-05
First the bad bits. The warm up is the dullest I have ever had the misfortune to encounter (10 minutes of marching on the spot and step touching do not make for a fun beginning) and the endlessly boring music (why is it only Rosemary Conley has worked out that we like to hear cheesy pop we can sing along to while we are working out?!).
Apart from that though I was very impressed with this. It only does moderate amounts of cardio work but the toning on offer is superb. I do loads of working out each week, and this had my legs really crying out with pain! There are a lot of standing leg moves first intesperced with the cardio. Then it is down to the floor for more leg and bum work, a short arm section, and then loads of good tummy exercises. Covered all the major parts you want to tone, but just 20 reps of each exercise. I hate exercise videos where you do about 200 of the same things (take note Nell McAndrew and Collen McLoughlin)!
The best thing is the warm up and workout only come to 45 minutes (then a few minutes more for the cool down) so you feel that you can squeeze it into your day without it taking loads of time, but that you have had a good workout nevertheless. And Isabella hardly says a word which can only be a plus!! Recommended!

unsure.......2007-05-21
I bought this DVD a few months back. It's all right if you're familiar with Pilates positions; however it is quite hard to master all her moves. Especially if you're a beginner at the balance ball. It certainly didn't make me feel as if I was utilising my body and my muscles to their full strength and capacity, I didn't feel out of breath and i didn't feel as if I'd had a proper work out. I don't think this DVD is for weight loss, I see it more as a toning DVD. If you want to get toned, buy it! If you want to lose weight, go to the gym!
A definite must have for home exercisers.......2007-05-04
It's now the second DVD I buy from Gaiam, with Suzane Deason as an Instructor...and I'm obviously going to buy a lot more. It's great exercise, not too demanding, but not too easy either, she is great with the explanations of the positions, breathing, etc.. And when you finish the exercise you feel lighter, and relaxed... A definite must have for home exercisers.
Great Workout!.......2006-03-07
This offers a really great workout. I would reccomend it to all not just those whom wish to loose some weight. The workout has been designed though so that one and all may enjoy it (even if your body is larger.) You can do it all the way through or just work on one or two of the sections you feel like. It is also energetic enough to be a challenge even to those of us whom are fit already. Form is everything so I would suggest watching it a few times before attempting it so you have an idea of what you should be trying to achieve.
As with all the Gaiam Mind Body Health dvds this one is excellent. Give it and the others a go. Balance Ball for Beginners is also very good and well worth getting for your collection. They would complement each other very well.
