Brilliant!.......2008-03-08
I was getting bored at the gym and fancied a complete change. Now I'm running outside as well as doing Nell's workout and I feel so much more motivated.
One of the reasons I love this workout is because time flies by! Also, it's nice to go back to aerobics using some light weights (at the gym I was constantly encouraged to stick to weight training for weight loss, not only did I not lose weight but I bulked up!) I would highly recommed this for anyone wishing to lose weight, tone up and maintain a lean frame. The first time I did it I ached in all the right places for days after and felt great! The only thing I'm not a fan of is the music, but I can live with it.
Wow. Cancel your gym membership and buy this instead. .......2008-03-05
I have all three of Nell's workouts. 'Peak Energy' and 'Ultimate Challenge' are similar - 'Maximum Impact' is the easiest of the three in my opinion and has more boxing moves.
I used to be very overweight and unfit, I couldn't even do the warm up in 'Peak Energy'. However after a short time of sensible eating and doing the full workout every other day I found myself a stone lighter, and two dress sizes smaller. I have LOADS of energy now, and I genuinely can not wait to put one of Nell's DVD's. They are all totally brilliant. Liam is just the best trainer - he is really motivational. When I first got the DVD I had to start by walking on the spot for the workout and just doing the arm movements properly, then I progressed to jogging on the spot with the arm movements, now I do the whole forty minutes 'heels up' running and star jumps with ease. I am lighter, firmer, stronger, and much more toned. The workouts are hard, but not impossible, even if you are lumbering around the room like an elephant in the beginning like I was. The floor work is also amazing. So, if you want to be able to crack nuts with your bum cheeks....:)...and save a fortune on gym membership...buy one of Nell's DVD's!
Challenging but gets results.......2008-03-01
I wanted a high energy workout that would be a good substitute for paying loads of money for a gym membership. This is great as you can do it whenever you like in the comfort of your own home.
In my case, the only thing i don't like about it is that a lot of the main cardio bit requires you to keep jumping about on the spot rather than a lower impact stepping for example. This obviously wouldnt be a problem for everyone but it makes it difficult to complete the entire workout as i get too tired too quickly (i am reasonably fit already). However as said previously this does mean you have something to work towards.
The workout is divided into three sections, the introduction and warm up, the main long cardio bit which also includes lots of painful but excellent squats, and then the arms bit and abs bit which are both quite hard at first but make you feel great after.
Overall this is an excellent dvd but maybe not for someone relatively new to exercise or unfit. It would definately be something to work to.
Another real favourite.......2008-02-25
This is a brilliant exercise DVD if you really want to blast it (I generally only have time for it at the weekends) and build your stamina. I'm fussy about exercise DVDs and this is one of my must-haves. I really like the way it is structured.
Repetitive but definitely rewarding workout.......2008-02-12
I recently purchased this dvd and boy is it a workout! I was left drenched and definitely could notice it in my legs and bum!!
It is very repetitive mind, so maybe not the choice for all, but then that gives you the time to be able to master any of the moves but the one thing that wound me up was that the instructor kept saying 'and the last set of 8' when it wasn't and we then did about another zillion squats! Squats are a main part to this workout which are tough but brilliant for your bum!
I'm not sure how often I'll get to use this as it has put me off a bit as the first time I did it I ran through the whole thing and because he doesn't give you any indication as to how many sets there really are, you can't at least think 'ok, only 2 more sets and thats it' kind of thing!
It doesn't require a lot of space though which is good thing and will suit some people - not sure about it though, I reserve judgement but think it's a case of each to their own!

Relaxing workout.......2005-01-25
I recently bought the dvd, it is quite a relaxing workout and you feel invigorated afterwards, but it isn't as much of a strenguous workout as i am used to. There are alot of pilates moves and positions but i wish there were more (it looks like i am going to have to buy more pilates dvds) I was expecting to buy just this one to use, but i suppose to get all the moves you have to buy more. Lynne Robinson definately knows what she is doing, she has a very good physique and does all the moves very well.
It actually works.......2004-05-07
Lynne Robinson offers a great introduction to Pilates, so it's not for the advanced, but it covers an majority of Pilates positions.
The only down side is that it is a little dull, the stage set, the music, Lynne voice. I think they've taken the calm approach a little too seriously.
Despite this, it really does work. I'm toning up, elongating my limbs, suffered no injury but have that nice ache the next day.
This DVD has changed my scepticism.
Great Workout!.......2004-01-19
I have to say that this is an all-round winner. It leaves me feeling energized and fit each time I do it. After only a week my partner noticed my backside felt firmer and I was looking more toned! Highly recommend!!
Great workout.......2002-11-25
I have done yoga exercise for several months but new to Pilates. I tried this one and I like it very much. Follow the instructions, and only after 2 weeks for exercises, I feel fast change of my thighs and flexibility. The workout is really great. If you want to gain abdominal strength, get slim thighs, increase flexibility, and look more wonderful on coming Christmas party, you should try this one as soon as possible.
Excellent for beginners and advanced alike........2002-05-28
Being new to Pilates I was a bit apprehensive about this one but Lo!, I found it easy to follow and great fun. The time just flew by and although I've only been using it a few weeks I am already feeling and looking better. Lynne Robinsons instructions are clear and easy to follow as she takes you through each move from beginners to advanced. I recommend this workout to everyone.

Too plastic for me..........2007-08-05
This teaches beginner bellydance moves. Even though it is titled Goddess Workout, here the focus is not on fitness, but on the teaching of the belly dance moves. She changes costumes...a lot. Gives a little background information of origins of belly dance. Warmup, 30mins of instruction (though she says it's a workout...its not challenging) a bit of choreography, then cool down. I've never done yoga and all her chakras etc is a bit confusing for my liking.
Dolphina grew up in Morocco when she was younger, and learnt the moves by watching her mother at dance class when she was young. She has also made 3 other videos, veils, finger cymbals and warrior goddess
Moves taught
Warm up - head circles, hip circles...lots of arm movements
Head slides
Wrists circles
Snake arms
Hip pushes
Hip twists
Hip thrusts
Hip lifts
Hip drops
Chest slides
Chest lifts
Chest drops
Chest square
Chest circles
Shoulder shimmy
Hip circles
Figure eights
And some others....
Not the best I've seen..........2007-03-14
Its such a shame that this DVD was so bad because her advanced level DVD is really good. In this one the camera is constantly on her face, very rarely do you see what she is actually doing with her body (the most important part of it!) When you do get to see her legs/hips, she has finished, moving on to something else. If you already know the basic moves, you are better off with the other DVDs, if you are a complete beginner, this will confuse the life out of you!
Addictive!!!.......2006-08-03
I've only had this DVD for 2 days and i've tried it 4 times already! its very addictive, I loved it from the word go. its a good light workout, great for people new to exercise and its really fun! Dolphina's costumes are stunning and she is a very good instructor. After I've mastered the tecniques on this one I'll be buying the worrior goddess workout which I have had a peek at on her website, Its FAB!!!
Great workout.......2006-06-28
The instruction in this DVD was excellent. However, the camera angles were awful. When Dophina was demonstrating foot movements, for example, the camera was on the top half of her body. This made the sequences hard to follow. Shame really - otherwise this would have been an excellent introduction to belly dancing.
Great light workout.......2004-03-18
I bought this as I thought it would be a fun way to exercise, and I was right - it IS fun. Dolphina is beautiful, and the different surroundings that she shows the exercises in are gorgeous.
About my fitness/dance level: I'm about 25 kilos overweight, but dance (line-dance and square-dance) regularly (4 times a week), so I'm in fairly good shape.
The first time I did this DVD, I thought it was a rather light workout, with some rather difficult movements. Now, when I've done it 4 times, and learnt the movements a bit better, the workout is also harder, because I can put more energy into it. Especially the shimmy is hard work, but when Dolphina does it, it looks so easy and effortless. It makes me hope that I can do it as well once I've done this workout for a year or two...
I've also found this workout (especially the warm-up) to be great for relieving shoulder and neck pain, from many long hours in front of the computer. I think it is very gentle on the knees, but puts quite a bit of strain on the hips, so be careful if you have problems with your hips.
All in all, I really enjoy this DVD, and it really gives me inspiration to do it again.
