Cardio Bliss!.......2008-03-11
I'm a big fan of Tae Bo and I buy all the new workouts as they come out - this one is a classic! It's a full hour of cardio and I wouldn't recommend it for beginners.
Unlike most of the other Tae Bo DVD's I have, you find yourself constantly on the move at a very fast pace - as a result your heart rate is always up and you do work up a sweat. There are a few moves in this that do get a little confusing (even for the seasoned Tae Bo-er!) but like with anything, it just needs practise!
If you're looking for something that really tones you up, I would highly recommend Tae Bo BOOTCAMP with the elastic 'Billy Bands' (I particularly favour the basic workout here which is actually 50 minutes long and quite advanced). If you want an all-round workout that's tough and gives you cardio and toning benefits, I would recommend Tae Bo ENERGIZE which I simply can't flaw! If you want a full-on aerobic cardio workout then I would go ahead and recommend this CELEBRITY CARDIO workout. Ignore any review that says you don't work up a sweat - it's as tough as you want to make it and if you don't push yourself, you're not going to sweat. This DVD is a real test of fitness if you push yourself!!
Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo Advanced.......2007-12-26
I'd tried Billy Blanks workouts before and wanted to try something a bit more challenging. This DVD exceeded my expectations. It consists of a workout of nearly 50 minutes, starting with the usual punches and arm exercises and then legs and kicks. Tae Bo advanced places much more emphasis on kicking and moves at twice the pace of his other workouts, so it is really hard going (have plenty of water to drink, you'll need it). Billy seems to have dispensed with the token 'fat man off the street' for this one and is surrounded by his muscular female companions. It was a good workout, but too strenuous for me!
Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo Advanced.......2003-07-23
I work out regularly (4 or 5 times a week) but was getting really bored with the same old routines. I mentioned this to a friend who said she would lend me this video. I had never tried Tae-bo before but I loved it right from the start. You have to really work on your technique (and it will take a while to perfect) but once you master it you will have so much fun. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and it is really sculpting my body and my muscle definition has really improved. This isn't for the feint hearted and you need to be fit to complete the workout. If not, I would recommend you try
the beginners video before you attempt this as it is a high-paced video and some of the moves are quite tricky. Hard work, lots of fun, and absolutely brill!
Fantastic workout.......2003-06-18
Ive just bought the video and having done tae-bo before am very impressed with the level and pace of the video. Its a fun but effective way of losing weight and staying toned. However i'd just like to say that i found the young girl in the background who kept shouting out phrases like "yeah! come on", "whoooah", "oooo just like that!" extremely annoying and you couldnt hear what Billy was trying to say at times. But other than that I have to say that this is one of the best fitness videos for tae-bo in my opinion
Innovative, fun and definitely worth owning!.......2002-07-20
WOW. I think I actually lost a stone in weight during the first 20 minutes. This is a fast paced and fun workout. It doesn't slow down until you get to the floor work and squats just before the cool-down. You will need a *lot* of water and you'll thank God for the pause button :) at times, but you never feel like you want to quit. I have just finished doing this workout for the first time and already I can feel the difference in the shape of my legs and in the way I feel. Even my arms feel slimmer! I can't do all the reps yet, but I can do all of the moves and even managed to do four of the push-ups. I've never managed to do a push-up in my life and somehow this tape got me on the floor and I'd done two before I realised what I was doing!
I love Billy Blanks' style and really enjoyed the parts where he turns to the camera and talks to *you* the same way he talks to the other people in the class. I don't think he talks too much but I do wish whoever mixed the sound had done a better job because it can be hard to really hear what Billy is telling you to do when you are huffing and puffing - maybe its just me but I couldn't make everything out. The instructions were very clear although if you're new to working out or to Tae-Bo, you might not want to start with the advanced workout because it doesn't come with an instructional section. If you know the proper form and know how to exercise safely you will be fine. That said you won't find anything unsafe but the break-neck speed could have you coming a little unstuck if you're new.
If you've been working out for a while and are looking for a new challenge, you'll be very happy with Tae-Bo. I'd recommend using this with Cindy Crawford's The Next Challenge and the New York City Ballet Workout to get toned and strong.
