Billy madison.......2006-04-09
Adam Sandler At His Best.......2004-08-29
Not Sandler's Best, But Still A Bit Of Fun!.......2004-08-11
Sandler plays a lazy, slightly retarded Billy Madison who is the son of a multi-millionaire hotel owner, and since leaving high school has spend his days getting drunk with two dimwits he calls friends, and setting fire to bags of dog poo that he leaves on the porches of neighbours that he doesn't really like very much. However when his father reveals that he is retairing and will be leaving the company to a very annoying executive, Billy decides to go back to school and prove that he can manage a business. The fact that after completing each grade he gets a huge party with a fair etc etc, probably helps him along the way. Third grade comes a big shock to Billy, as he not only makes a whole class of new friends, but also finds that he teacher is no other than the beautiful Bridgette Wilson, who plays Veronica Vaughn.
The nasty executive, Eric, starts to worry that maybe his dream of running the company is slipping through his grubby little fingers and so blackmails the principle to say that Billy payed him in order to compete each grade. When Billy's father finds out he is furious and is about to give the company to Eric when Billy challenges him to a 'educational decathalon' and the winner will win the company.
If it was anyone else playing the role of Billy Madison, other than Sandler, this film would be a complete flop and not really worth a light, but when its Adam Sandler acting like a complete childish fool, for example chasing huge penguins about on a quad bike and farting in class, its ok and the audiences always seem to accept it and come back to the cinemas time and time again wanting more.
Overall, Billy Madison is a nice little film, which although isn't family viewing, teenages and adults are sure to enjoy the slapstick comedy and i recommend that you watch it several times in order to get the full amount of fun and enjoyment that this film has to offer. As i said before, not his best attempt, but still a treat for Sandler fans, or comedy fans in general.
Truly awful.......2004-05-02
Adam Sandler plays the Billy Madison of the title who has to repeat school in order to inherit his fathers hotel business. Yes the plot is paper-thin but that's expected from this type of film, usually the jokes make up for that. However, jokes are very thin on the ground here, submerged in long periods of Adam Sandler simply acting childish, and those that there are - well the fact that he has gone back to school should give you an indication of the level of humour. Stupid voices and fart noises in class are about all you're going to get here.
If I could give this film 0 stars I would - avoid!

Amazon.co.uk Review
One of the most memorably offbeat romantic comedies of the 1990s begins when a talk-radio veterinarian named Abby (Janeane Garofalo) takes a call from Brian (Ben Chaplin), the owner of a roller-skating Great Dane. Brian is intrigued by Abby's voice and asks if she'll agree to meet him. Insecure about her looks and her nonexistent love life, Abby agrees, but describes herself as a tall blonde, then begs her attractive neighbour Noelle (played by Uma Thurman) to meet with Brian in her place. The ensuing case of switched identity is complicated when Noelle takes a liking to Brian who, of course, thinks she is Abby. This confusion gains comedic momentum when Abby safely plays herself on the radio and in a long, hilariously seductive phone call with Brian, but by now the situation has grown hopelessly complex, and Abby has to find a way to reveal herself without disappointing Brian. Many viewers rightly complained that the movie relies on the assumption that Abby is unattractive, even though Garofalo is more attractive and appealing here than she'd been in several movies before and since. Still, this contemporary variation on Cyrano de Bergerac is a lightweight, good-natured surprise that values the quirks and foibles that make lovelorn romantics (including their pets) uniquely appealing. --Jeff ShannonCustomer Reviews:
Charming, relaxing and surprisingly rewatchable........2006-12-25
the truth about 'the truth about cats and dogs'.......2004-06-07
Which is basically my opinion of this film, give it a chance.
If it's been a tough day, or you're not feeling too great about yourself, then I advise you put this film on and become wrapped up in it*.
Assured to raise at least a smile, and hopefully recover that tingly feeling in your toes.

Classic love triangle and a dog on roller skates!.......2002-05-13
I love it!.......2000-08-11
Pure escapism.......2000-06-14
Uma Thurman shows a talent for comedy as an implausibly beautiful airhead, Ben Chaplin is charming as an English photographer living and working in LA, and Janeane Garofalo is funny, intelligent and cuddly-cute as a radio vet.
Infinitely better than the tripe that is "Sleepless in Seattle" or "any of those others" with Meg Ryan.

This is one of the best animated films that I've ever seen........2001-08-18
The film is both sad (without being too over-the-top) and funny. The dialogue between the characters is both original and hilarious, and the film in general is very wacky, as were some of the songs. Drake's over-the-top rendition of "Don't make me laugh" had me splitting my sides. James Belushi's characterization of Rocko was perfectly fitted to his natural humour and temperament, and Tim Curry did a great job of Drake. This film is the perfect example of not expecting much from a film, but getting everything. If you like a lot of fun, you will probably love this film.
Dire.......2000-07-24
The film is an Irish-Welsh-Hungarian-Turkish co-production. And it shows. The storyline is fractured and unclear, many dance numbers building up to nothing, with a meandering narrative that goes nowhere very slowly. The different groups of animators seem totally unaware of each other's style, and the film varies dramatically in picture quality, even within individual scenes.
The animation is at times appalling. Endless scenes with just two characters talking against a neutral background dominate the film, and the few impressive moments are quickly extinguished by moments of excruciating amateurishness the next. The voices are not particularly impressive either.
That said, my two children enjoyed it very much (bar the long, totally inappropriate 'musical' title sequence) and in its own primitive way I suppose it just about passes an hour and a quarter. But there is a lot better out there - an awful lot.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Inspired by Chris Marker's acclaimed short film La Jetée, 12 Monkeys combines intricate, intelligent storytelling with the uniquely imaginative vision of director Terry Gilliam. The story opens in the wintry wasteland of the year 2035, where a virulent plague has forced humans to live in a squalid, oppressively regimented underground. Bruce Willis plays a societal outcast who is given the opportunity to erase his criminal record by "volunteering" to time-travel into the past to obtain a pure sample of the deadly virus that will help future scientists to develop a cure. But in bouncing from 1918 to the early and mid-1990s, he undergoes an ordeal that forces him to question his own perceptions of reality. Caught between the dangers of the past and the devastation of the future, he encounters a psychiatrist (Madeleine Stowe) who is initially convinced he's insane, and a wacky mental patient (Brad Pitt in a twitchy Oscar-nominated role) with links to a radical group that may have unleashed the deadly virus. Equal parts mystery, tragedy, psychological thriller, and apocalyptic drama, 12 Monkeys ranks as one of the best science fiction films of the 1990s, boosted by Gilliam's visual ingenuity and one of the finest performances of Willis's career. --Jeff ShannonCustomer Reviews:
