Worth the trouble of getting it.......2006-07-28

Not officially released in Britain, this Pilates DVD is luckily available from other European Amazon sites. The content of this Pilates workout will surely compensate for the trouble of actually ordering it from overseas - I did and was certainly not disappointed; in fact, this is one of my favourite Pilates workouts. Led by one of America's best known dancers and instructors, Jenifer Kries, this is one of the best introductions to pilates that you can get. Jennifer explains the technique of breathing and using your core, and moves onto a series of Pilates and ballet based exercises, which will tone your arms, legs and abs beautifully. The difference in my body was striking after just a month of regular use of this DVD, especially in my upper body - I actually got rid of the "flaps" on my upper arms :) The program is suited for beginners as well as for more advanced levels of Pilates, as Jennifer offers alternatives for the more experienced, so even if you have done Pilates before you will still get a challenging workout out of this. Jennifer is lovely and encouraging, and on top of that, very lean and extermely flexible - just watching her motivates me to exercise, hoping that her level of incredible flexibility can be achieved by doing Pilates on a regular basis. There is no music on the DVD, which I think is lovely, as it allows me to concentrate on what I am doing and listening to the instructor's instructions. The workout is over an hour long, intensely stretches and works all muscle groups, including your back muscles (and how many exercise DVDs offer that?) and, what is best, is not excessively exhausting, but provides wonderful effects nonetheless.
