Fun & funky but a bit light weight.......2008-01-25
I bought this because I was desperate for an alternative to the cheesy pole/ belly/ latin dancing workouts that seem to be everywhere at the moment. Being a bit of a fitness freak, and as an instructor myself I can be a bit picky when it comes to DVD workouts. I need decent music, creative choreography and a down-to-earth presenter who doesn't go over the top and breaks the moves down so that I can follow, but with enough variation that I don't get bored.
Okay, so the music is pretty naff and you wouldn't hear it on any Ministry of Sound compilation, but the routines are sufficiently complex that it holds your interest. I would suggest that if coordination isn't your strong point, then a slower workout might be a better option. At least with this one, you don't get it all in the first attempt, which gives you a challenge and something to aim for. I liked the snappy presentation, the 'normal' looking people and the ability to choose which section you do and in what sequence. My criticism would be the lack of serious stretching and the range of arm movement - it's not my favourite workout but it is okay when you need a bit of a change and haven't got the energy to do a big run or something more energetic!

Excellent!.......2007-03-09
I bought this DVD as I was looking for a useful exercise DVD that would not only be fun, but would also get me into shape. I found that this DVD filled both of my requirements. Although it was quite difficult to grasp some of the dance movements at first, i eventually got the hang of it and found it to be a very rewarding. The DVD includes fun, energetic upbeat songs from some of the more unknown artists but this didn't make them any less interesting to dance and work-out to. I would definately recommend this to all Teens and Tweens who want to get into shape, learn some new dance routines or just have fun!

Hats off to Suhaila for yet again another good production!.......2007-06-06
This video is really a good blend of pilates and bellydance. It is a challenge and I like how 'baby friendly' her videos are. I am able to stop what I am doing and tend the baby and then get right back into it again, or I can even hold the baby during some exercises (my baby is not a newborn - my baby is almost a year old).
Suhaila really challenges you to 'stretch' your abilities and I think with regular practice that will happen! I really wonder what her advanced exercises are like because for me this video was a real challenge and I have been doing pilates and bellydance off and on for several years.
I also have her yoga and bellydance video and really enjoy that as well, and so does the baby :-).
I highly recommend this video! It's a real challenge, and you really feel like you have done something wonderful for your body and your soul!

Some Experience is Required............2007-03-12
I bought this DVD as I was curious as to how Belly Dance and Yoga would be combined. Suhaila certainly answered that question for me. I found that with the yoga poses, she did not advise the participants to keep the shoulders down from the ears (you can injure yourself if you don't), and she also didn't provide a whole lot of instruction on how to breathe. This is predominantly a yoga video, with a few hip moves and undulations thrown in for good measure. On a positive spin, that means that it is really strength training and flexibility training. I really like the glute isolations, I have never done anything like that!
I also found the undulations EXTREMELY challenging, and I kept thinking to myself, if this is the beginner level what is intermediate or advanced? This definitely provides a challenge, something to work towards. She also shows a performance at the end, and includes an interview about her own experiences, that gives you the opportunity to get to know her and connect with her in a way that you normally don't with other video instructors. It is a challenge, so don't get frustrated the first time you try! Overall, I think this is a video I will grow to like more as I get better at it.
I watched all the features, including the bonus workout and the circle dance, absolutely amazing, I changed my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. She included her daughter who appears to be about 3-5 years old in the video. The little sweetheart does a solo performance. She was amazing! I really enjoyed the video very much and learned a whole new appreciation for the fine art of Bellydance.
