Bargain Tribal Fusion.......2007-11-19
I'd recommend this for those interested in Tribal Fusion and those who are looking to gain some strength, isolations and a few cool combos for dancing. It wouldn't really be for those interested in Egyptian style dance unless you are looking to brancd out or are just curious as to what tribal fusion is all about.
The movements are visually clear as are Darshans instructions. Although the spacey backgrounds can be at first a little distracting but I find I'm watching the dancer and not the window dressing. I dabble in both genres.
From the world dance (who made this dvd) website. The four combinations are-
Combination 1: Contemporary Tribal Fusion
Combination 2: Tribalesque
Combination 3: World Tribal Fusion (adding a salsa/samba flair to Tribal Fusion)
Combination 4 is offered as a pattern for a contemporary-flair wide-stance switch transition that can be used between combinations.
Very good value dance fusion dvd.
For those looking to push themselves further please try Contemporary Bellydance & Yoga Conditioning by Ariellah and the East Coast Tribal dvd
Nice example of tribal dancing.......2007-11-15
This DVD have nicely done set of worm up and explanations at the beginning, then Darshan goes trough teaching of the simple choreography step by step and at the end there is example of her dance.
DVD is made in the way that is more suitable for someone who already has some experience in belly dancing, since some of the movement she uses in worm up need to be taught beforehand.
But since I do have that experience, I found DVD indeed useful and helpful in introducing myself into Tribal style of dance.
Thank you Darshan.......2007-11-04
So far I ve used this Dvd for about 4 months and Im really impressed with the results. Ive been been doing belly dance classes for quite a few years and the honest truth is regular practice/exercise makes a big difference.
Im not a tribal belly dancer but I am interested in the techniques and Ive found following the workout on this Dvd has helped my confidence and dancing .
Ive also really really enjoyed the other Dvd Ive bought of Darshan's . Its called Chakra Dance Flow, I think.

Very Good.......2008-02-12
Good for beginners and intermediate level. She describes the isolations in good detail and very well.
The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the actual dance at the end was very short and there was no build up of a routine or dance moves. If you run through the DVD a number of times then it is likely you can build up your own dance.
Good menu options, easy to find the section you want and option to play with music or music and voice instructions.
She is very good and I would recommend this DVD.

Not bad - but leans towards the cabaret stlye.......2007-03-16
Outlines some basic steps and movements - movements are very large - i am more used to smaller ones but we are all different. Sometimes looks ungainly but helpful diagrams and repeats.
I bought it to keep my body 'up to it' between classes and the practice sessions are useful for that as you can copy-cat.
Very pretty dancer/costumes but not much passion but then this is for practice not appreciation!
Use the instruction, for exercise and 'educating' your body - fine for that. No shimmies, hip-drops and such - mostly circles, figure eights and some very ugly 'hip' circles - American style.
Useful but I'm glad I didn't try to learn belly dancing with this one! Useful but find a Class - now!!!

Neon Shines in 2 New Dances.......2007-10-22
The 2 dances on this DVD are of intermediate level, the first being much easier, and the second building in speed and complexity, both with wonderful fluid choreography by the one and only Neon; each dance has 11 combinations, which are broken down step by step, not only teaching you the movements, but with an explanation of the technique, so one can learn from Neon's expertise, and with practice, execute all the isolations, as well as add the grace and style these 2 pieces merit. There is an initial demonstration of each dance up to tempo and with music (marvelous pieces by Amir Naoum Chehade and Elias Sarkar, which can be downloaded from the site given on the DVD box), and they are good to watch, as performances, and as goals to aim for after you have learned the choreography. Finally there is a bonus bravura performance by Neon, in one of her exciting numbers where she dances with a tray full of lit candles on her head, which never fails to amaze me!
This well produced DVD has Neon "floating" on a white background, so there is nothing to distract you from the movements being demonstrated. Neon is a stunning Russian beauty in her pink and green dance outfit, with a lithe and toned body that is sculpted perfection, which reminds us that bellydancing, as well as being an aesthetic pleasure in its traditional movements with a modern twist as choreographed by Neon, is also great exercise, and a lot more fun than chugging along like a hamster on a treadmill. Neon's soft accented voice is also a plus factor, because it is pleasant on the ear, and clearly enunciated, so you understand every word as you are being taught. This is an excellent DVD to add to your dance instruction collection, to broaden your repertoire and learn from the best of the best.
