Good yoga workout, but the must be better out there.......2004-03-18
This DVD provides two workouts. The first one, the Joy of Yoga, is alright for beginners, but it does include a lot of simple stretching that most people wouldn't think of as yoga. So you miss out on a lot of poses most people would expect. It is a rather short workout - only 35 minutes, including the relaxation portion. One problem that some users may not like, is that the instructors voice can get a little annoying and high pitched. Also, she tend to use words like "scootch", which can get on one's nerves.
The second workout on this DVD, Fat-Burning yoga, is much better than the first. There is a good warmup, and decent poses, a good portion of flowing series, and a mini abdominal workout thrown in towards the end. Overall it would get beginners sweating and be comfortable for beginner to intermediate. The instuctor is sporting a new hairstyle in this one, and her voice is less annoying than the first workout, but she still says some cheesy things. This workout lasts approximately 40 minutes, but for more intermediate to advanced people, this would be a little on the short side too. All in all, this DVD is geared more towards the fitness center type of yoga, but provides a decent workout.
