3 out of 5 stars Rather read the book..........2008-03-13

I recently read P.S. I love you and was really looking forward to watch the movie, but sadly it did not live up to the book. I was also extremely disappointed that it took place in the USA and not Ireland, because I was looking forward to some of the memorable scenes for example the lilo scene in the book. It was sad that Daniel was portrayed to be so rude and that the lead actress's two brothers weren't written into the movie.

I would rather suggest the book or the movie. Do not do both.

4 out of 5 stars Tears and Laughter all the way .......2008-03-12

A little put out it has been Americanised so much ... no film can ever match the book as you imagination is far better with those mental images than any film can do.
BUt stil I loved this, I watched this on my own becuase I knew I would laugh at some of the silly things and cry at others ....I'm a hopeless romantic and while I thankfully have not lost a partner in death I have lost a partner and can totally get into the head of this .... Watch it with and open mind, allow yourself to laugh and cry and enjoy ! x

5 out of 5 stars PS I love this film.......2008-03-03

I can't say a bad word against this film...it's funny, romantic and dramatic. What more could you ask for?
Butler and Swank work so well together and your heart goes out to her when she loses him and then you leap for joy when there is potential for her to be happy.
A truly beautiful film, one of the best chick flicks I have ever seen.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2008-02-16

I'm quite confused at all the bad reviews I'm reading. This film is excellent. I will admit that it is a chick flick, but it is well done. It has the power to make you laugh and cry at the same time, to make you laugh but feel completely sentimental while you do it. I'm addicted to films, and not just chick flicks, I love horror films, comedies, everything. I'm not being biased towards P.S i love you because I'm a girl, I genuinely believe that this film is touching and extremely heartfelt. The emotion in it seems genuine and real. I would definitely recommend this film. I haven't read the book and from what I gather, those who have read the book are disappointed by the film, but regardless of it's likeness to the novel, it's an excellent film in its own right. And I definitely don't think that it is offensive to the irish, I thought it portreyed Ireland in a very realisticly warm, down to earth light, I thought it did Ireland justice.

4 out of 5 stars Better Than The Book.......2008-02-10

I've read the book and watched the film. The Irish accents in the film are actually pretty good (and I know quite a few Irishmen!) - there are some slow parts to the film, but those parts all contribute to the emotional end. If you sit and watch the film with a bad feeling about it, then you're going to purposefully hate it...however you watch this with an open mind and actually think about the situation that Holly faces...then you'll find each scene is great and adds up to a brilliant chick-flick film!

Warning: Do not let men watch this, because they'll get jealous because Gerry is the perfect man!

I Know What You Did Last Summer [1997]

Amazon.co.uk Review

Just what the world needs, another riff on that post-Psycho horror cliché: the slasher movie. In this version, which considerably dumbs down the Lois Duncan book, the bad guy chases naughty teenagers with a hook, all the while dressed as a dark version of the Gorton's fisherman. They seem to have killed someone in a car accident while out partying, and a price must be paid. Nothing new is added to the genre by I Know What You Did Last Summer, though it would be unfair not to note that this does have some scary moments. That is about all it has, because as much as this wanted to be another Scream, it hasn't the heart or the script. It does, however, have the requisite cast of small-screen stars (including Party of Five's Jennifer Love Hewitt and Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar) to have snagged box-office success, spawning a sequel. --Rochelle O'Gorman

4 out of 5 stars I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER IS A GOOD ENTRY IN THE SLASHER FILM GENRE.......2007-08-18

I Know What You Did Last Summer or IKWYDLS from hear on out is an outstanding slasher film in the Post-Scream era.

Plot: Four teens are driving down the road and accidentally hit a man and fearing manslaughter charges they dump the body in the nearby ocean. A year later each one of them receive notes stating the somebody knows what they did last summer and as seemingly harmless jokes turn into bloody murder they have to figure out who could've seen them that night and maybe the man they hit didn't die and he's back for bloody revenge.

What a film! I had to chose between this movie and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter so I picked this movie and as I walked out of the shop I felt I had picked a dud so I put off watching this for a while and then one morning I decided to check it out and stuck it into by DVD player. From the first shot to the last shot this film is beautifully shot and directed. You get to know the characters and feel like you want to reach into your T.V. set and pluck the characters out of harms way and a lot of that is due the performances of the actors. Jennifer Love Hewitt was the perfect choice to play the heroin and Sarah Michelle Gellar delivers a heart wrenching performance and the audience really gets to know her more than the rest of the cast mostly to Mrs. Gellar's talent. Which brings up Sarah's chase scene. Words cannot describe the shear terror eating away at your body as Mrs. Gellar runs for her life from the killer. The director did an outstanding job with this sequence and it goes down in Chase Scene Hall as number 1. Remember the chase scene in Prom Night? Expect that and much, much more and you will be no doubt satisfied. Freddie Prinze Jr. is likable as Jennifer Love Hewitt's character's boyfriend and serves as a great red herring twisted around into s great fake reveal and Ryan Phillipe proves he can make the most unlikeable character likable and you can feel for him when he meets his demise. The rest of the cast are great and are there for fodder or red herrings. The only thing I have to say now is if you haven't seen this go check it out and you will now be disappointed. IKWYDLS gets 10/10

5 out of 5 stars I know . . . that this is a great movie.......2007-02-23

I Know What You Did Last Summer is deffinatly one of the best late ninety's wave of horror and slasher movies. It has it all - suspence, action, gore, cool death scenes, a creepy killer, A-list actors - plus it actually has a good story line. It is easy to see why this was a massive success, spawning two sequels (and hopefully another in the near future??).

Driving back from the beach after a Fourth of July party, four teenage friends, Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Barry (Ryan Phillipe), Helen (Sarah Michelle Geller) and Ray (Freddy Prince Jr) accidently hit a man who is wondering in the middle of the road. Julie freaks out and says they have to go the the cops, but Barry, who was drink driving, tells her that they'd all go to jail for manslaughter. After some argueing, they agree to dump the mans body into the ocean and each of them vow never to tell what they did.

One year later, Julie moves back with her parents for the summer after a year of college. She is not the girl she used to be, she is lonely and guilt ridden. No longer friends with those involved in the accident. But then she recieves a note from someone claiming they know what she did. She meets up with her friends only to find out they received similar threats. Soon the group are flung into a terrifying fight for survival as they are scared and stalked...and eventually killed, one-by-one, by a mysterious killer with a steal hook and a thirst for vengeance as July 4th approaches.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is a brilliant horror/slasher movie with plenty of suspence and gore. Highly recomended.

5 out of 5 stars I still know.....a good film when I see one!.......2005-07-27

I have decided to review this now as it's one of my favourite films and have just watched it for about the 6th time by now. Yes when it came out many compared it to Scream another modern horror classic. Both were brought to the big screen by Kevin Williamson ,as was The Faculty. However Scream was as much a update of the gerne as you can get directed by Wes Craven, the horror maste, which has it's tongue in cheek moments making fun of the gerne. In I know what you did last summer there is more of a obvious story from the start for the killers motives.
This film is pure class, featuring a young and beautiful cast, of course, inc Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Sarah Michelle-Gellar. It has a cool soundtrack "Hush" by Kula shaker and some genuine jumpy moments too. It shows in the film that there must have been a big budget for the film. The films target audience will and have lapped this up and along with Scream it is one of the modern generations fave films. Only down side on DVD is that there are no extras what so ever! Overall a great fun, classy, horror film everyone should enjoy! If you haven't seen this yet, where have you been? Go buy it now!

4 out of 5 stars If Your Going To Bury a Secret, Make Sure It Stays Buried!.......2005-07-22

Of course this film is always going to be compared to 'Scream' because they were both written by Kevin Williamson, and also they fall into the same 'slasher' flick genre that became popular in the 90's. The opinion as to which one of the two is better varies a lot from person to person, but at th end of the day they are both pretty good films, and while 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' is nothing special, it is at times very scary and an entertaining horror movie that most people will enjoy.

When a group of teenages accidentally hit a man with their car on the way back from a party they initally think they've killed him and decide to throw him in the sea to avoid manslaughter charges. However just before throwing him in they discover that he is still alive, but throw him in anyway and make a pact to never speak of what they have done ever again. Just one year later, they are forced to speak of it again when one of the group receive a letter saying "I know what you did last summer". After that all four have to start watching their backs as a fisherman with a huge hook chases them and systematically begins killing them one by one.

The acting throughout the film is generally pretty good with the lovely Jennifer Love Hewitt playing Julie, the sensible, mature one in the group who from the beggining wanted to tell the police; the just as lovely Sarah Michelle Gellar playing Helen who was more in with the idea of dumping the body; Ryan Phillippe playing Barry who is really the ring leader and keeps everyone from telling the police; and finally Freddie Prinze Jr playing the more quite Ray who was driving the car when it hit the man.

Overall, 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' while not being anything special, and not adding a great deal to the 'slasher' flick genre, is still a nice little film with some scary moments and was liked enough to gross over seventy million dollars at the USA box office alone and even spawn a sequel, 'I Still Know What You Did Last Summer'. If you are a fan of horror films, or just want something to entertain and scare you, then this film is for you.

Everyone Says I Love You [1997]

Amazon.co.uk Review

Writer-director Woody Allen has produced yet another challenging and funny film with Everyone Says I Love You, this time taking on the musical genre and bending it to his own unique vision. The result is one of his most charming films in recent years, as Allen assembles a typically sterling ensemble cast to evoke the romanticism of years past. This time, the large cast (including Alan Alda, Drew Barrymore, Goldie Hawn, Edward Norton and Tim Roth) not only turn in funny and touching performances, but they sing the classic songs of the 1930s and 1940s themselves, and sing them very well. The plot centres on an extended family in New York and their various romantic entanglements, including Allen's pursuit of Julia Roberts through the streets of Paris and the canals of Venice. The musical numbers are the film's high points, displaying wonderful choreography ranging from a room full of dancing Groucho Marxes to a dancing couple in flight at the banks of the Seine. Everyone Says I Love You is a witty and entertaining fantasy, and truly romantic escapism.--Robert Lane, Amazon.com

5 out of 5 stars Sheer entertainment.......2007-10-13

I was pleasantly surprised by a film that can be compared to a perfect dessert, tasting good, yet not heavy. Only Woody Allen could take threads from the films of the 20th century going back to the 1930s and weave a musical cloth suitable for today. The plot can be best described as pleasantly gossipy (since the main narrator is a young woman), but that is only one ingredient in the mixture that includes colour, song and dance, a bit of magic (watch the sequence on the river bank in Paris) and even a bit of Bollywood (a section of a song sung in Hindi by a Sikh taxi driver).
Highly recommended for a pleasant, relaxing evening.

4 out of 5 stars WHAT FUN!.......2005-05-14

This film had all the characteristics of the classic Woody Allen film - beautiful apartments, the Ritz in Paris, the canals of Venice and then the wonderful music.
If you're not expecting it, it's a bit surprising to hear people break into song every now and then, but it's fun and the choreography is brilliant!

A celebrity cast, Woody Allen dialogue, lovely music and beautiful backdrops - what can go wrong?
It's very light on plot, but this is made up for by scenes like the finale, with Woody and Goldie dancing and she flying, and it's just such fun.

Very relaxing, not thought provoking, good for an easy night in....

2 out of 5 stars Ok ,too musical. 21st january 2004.......2004-01-21

It's okay, but better if you like musical films. It was on tele not so long ago, and i taped it thinking it would of been better. I don't like all musical films, but this one looked quite good. I was a little bit disapointed in it, but it wasn't boring. Hire this film first, it is not good for not musical film fans.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer [1999]

Amazon.co.uk Review

There was so much story left to tell after I Know What You Did Last Summer that the filmmakers brought back all the beloved, surviving characters from the first film for this sequel. Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr), Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), and Julie's white tank top (Jennifer Love Hewitt's white tank top) return to once again face a hook-wielding maniac. Not satisfied merely to repeat a theme, director Danny Cannon and screenwriter Trey Callaway add variation by introducing Karla (Brandy) as Julie's best friend in the whole wide world. Karla and Julie have won a summer trip to the Bahamas with their current infatuations but find that they've arrived at the start of the storm season and that at their hotel "Do Not Disturb" signs should flip to say "R.I.P." One can only hope to hang just such a sign on this repetitive, tedious franchise, especially since this version is less scary than the price of beer in those little hotel room refrigerators. Definite contender for Gratuitous T&A Shot of the Year (it's of Hewitt and that's not meant as a recommendation). --Keith Simanton

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars AN ENTERTAINING SEQUEL BUT NOTHING MORE.......2007-11-03

It's been a year since the accidental death of Ben Willis, and Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is still tormented with nightmares about the ordeal. Her schoolwork is suffering as a result, and her roommate Karla (Brandy) insists she go out and party to forget it. The nightmares continue, and Julie is a nervous wreck. After Karla wins a radio giveaway for a free trip to a resort island and hotel, Karla wants Julie to go with Will Benson, (Matthew Settle) a local college student with a crush on Julie. Julie wants her old friend Ray, (Freddie Prinze Jr.) to go, but he doesn't want to leave the old neighborhood. Forced to go with Will and Karla's boyfriend Tyrell, (Mekhi Phifer) on the trip. The first night is event-free, but then the staff at the resort starts popping up dead. Stranded on the island, Julie informs Karla of her past with Ben Willis, which Karla dismisses as rubbish until she witnesses the killer first-hand. Ray hears about the situation on the island, and rushes over to save Julie and her friends from Ben.

The Good News: Unlike the first movie, this one is the "body count" of the two. We get a lot more deaths in here, many of them pretty cleverly done. Here, we get a hook to the neck, a double spear impaling, hedge-clippers into the stomach, and a boat oar to the side of the head. Despite all these deaths, the film isn't as gory as you would believe. Most of the deaths are violent, but the bloodletting is kept off-screen. The bloodstains are found later, rather than seeing them formed with the kill. The main thing about this film is that it is a lot creepier than the first one. The first part is one giant suspense scene, where we don't really know if Julie is dreaming or seeing things, and it's all cleverly done so it can be either of them or she could be actually stalked by the killer. Because of the way that he dresses, the rain slicker, he is able to get a lot of scenes out of simply standing in the background. I also really like the ending: going out with the bang this one has is a great improvement over the similar ending of the first one. It is a good last jump and is set up brilliantly and logically. It is also more effective at getting the scare than the first one, and leaves open the door for an un-filmed third movie.

The Bad News: As I mentioned earlier, this film is pretty bloodless in certain areas. The deaths are violent, but aren't exactly gory. We get no blood at all during the spear killing, the oar hits off-screen, and the only killing the least bit bloody is the hedge-clipper killing. I really hate that trend where killings are bloodless and films are basically a retread of the earlier films. This "Scream" style of horror films are among the lowest type of horror film because they take the convictions of the genre and throw them back to the audience in a marketable way. I am so glad modern horror films (House of 1,000 Corpses, Cabin Fever, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc.) have become famous and have totally replaced these kinds of movies.

The Final Verdict: "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" is basically a horror film for fans of the first one. Besides the one main plot twist, it introduces nothing of real importance into the series, yet it still manages to blindly entertain. Here, I wish to use the phrase "expendable entertainment" for this film: it's a movie that will please those who see, though those who never do will not be left out in the dark.

5 out of 5 stars I still know . . . this is an under-rated sequel.......2007-02-24

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer is a very good sequel to the hit 1997 movie I Know What You Did Last Summer and, in my opinion, is a very under-rated movie. Instead of making this movie almost exactly the same as the origional, as most horror-movie-makers seem to do, this movie has a totally different setting to the first - a holliday resort in the bahamas!

Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and her best friend and roommate Karla (Brandy) win a radio compition and win a holliday for four to the bahamas. Karla takes her boyfriend Tyrell (Mekhi Phifer) and Julie takes her new love interest Will (Matthew Settle). The arrive and check into their hotel (which I admitt, was a bit of an unrealistic point of the film as there are only five or six staff members and seemingly no other guests, however it is the "off-season").

Julie begins to relax, enjoying the luxury and relaxation of the hotel, but, unknown to Julie and her friends, the body count is rising and its not long before those awaited words "I Still Know..." appear and once again Julie must face the wrath of Ben Willis.

Just as good as the orgional, this movie is not one to miss. It is as scary as the orgional and a bit gorier too. This movie also features an appearance from Jack Black and Ray (Freddy Price Jr) is also back.

I would highly reccomend this movie especially if you enjoyed the origional.

1 out of 5 stars Unfortunately he has not forgotten.......2006-02-16

'I Know What You Did Last Summer' was a good film. It had suspense and charm, and you were able to idenity with the characters; in particular, Sarah Michelle Gellar's character, whom it was extremely disappointing to see killed off.

Its sequel, however, is dire. It is as the reviewer for the Radio Times describes it; noisy, flashy and dull. The climax to the first film should have been the end of the story but clearly the studio wished to make more money by making this ridiculous attempt at a scary movie.

This is mainly owing to a recycled plotline. Jennifer Love Hewitt is back as the innocent, protagonistic Julie James, this time accompanied by a gang of friends who win a trip to the Bahamas. But guess who has decided to gatecrash, and to pick them off one by one? You can see right from the beginning where this story is going.

All the clichés of the slasher have been employed here, including the multi-used "He's behind you!" scenario. The gore in the death scenes only adds to the dire and obviously contrived premise of the film, and the whole thing builds to a sloppy and predictable conclusion. The characters are one-dimensional and you have absolutely no sympathy for them. The twist to the film is about the most exciting part, and that in itself is not very enthralling.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant.......2004-06-12

Brill, like the first one, but not so good. Barry and Helen (Ryan Phillippe and Sarah Michelle Gellar) died in the last one, so it's not so good, but still Great because it has Jennifer Love Hewitt in it, and she's one of my favourite Actresses! I hope they bring out another Sequal to it. :-)

3 out of 5 stars I still know you're laughing about last summer.......2004-03-08

It's a watchable enough film if you liked the first one, but it really doesn't deserve an 18 cert. There may be more blood this time around, but it's still pretty tame stuff, an episode of ER is generally more harrowing. The only jumps you get are the ones the makers have set you up for - friend sneaks into bedroom and suddenly appears in wardrobe etc etc. The story line is thin at best, and the fisherman with the hook must be superman to survive all the beatings he took in the last film and then get shot multiple times and buried in this one...and still manage to reappear.. I laughed most of the way though, and that justifies the 3 star rating.

I Love You To Death [1990]

    Amazon.co.uk Review

I Love You to Death is a spotty black comedy from Lawrence Kasdan (The Big Chill)--based on a true story--that stars Kevin Kline as a womanising pizzeria owner whose mousy wife (Tracey Ullman) tries multiple ways of murdering him with the aid of sundry friends and hired hands. The film never picks up the necessary momentum or develops the necessary tone to drive it and one is left picking and choosing which of the performers is at least adequately entertaining. Kline is good but perhaps a bit too theatrical and Joan Plowright is hilarious as his mother-in-law. The funniest joke in the whole thing belongs to William Hurt and Keanu Reeves as deeply stoned, would-be-killers who emerge from a taxi and look as if they can't remember what planet they're on. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars Watch it for the confession scene.......2007-12-23

This quite a unique movie. It's worth a watch regardless of what others might say.

I Love You To Death tells a [true] story about a cheating husband trying to be knocked off by his wife. Poisoning is the first choice. When the over dose of pills don't work, they ask a very love struck bus boy to pull the trigger. There last resort is to hire 2 very drugged up "hitman."

Kevin Kline, Tracey Ullman, Joan Plowright are very good playing this slightly dysfunctional family. River Phoenix is also very convincing as a moonstruck, busboy. And there is William Hurt and Keanu Reeves. I do have to agree with the person whose comment said, "They make Dumb and Dumber look like yale graduates."
Brilliant Confession Scene that forms part of the film's trailer...

    5 out of 5 stars Keanu's performance is adorable!.......2003-12-08

I know many people would say that Keanu Reeves' asset is only his looks, but they are totally wrong!
I believe only Keanu can play a drug addict that lovable.
This film is one rare crime drama that is truely heartwarming and hilarious.
Just enjoy with a nice piece of pizza!

4 out of 5 stars Should black comedies have happy endings?.......2003-11-20

An interesting and largely enjoyable comedy whose cartoon-like characters manage to find the funny side of everyday things like adultery and attempted murder. Like Lawrence Kasdan's best films (Big Chill, Silverado) this is essentially an ensemble piece with everyone getting their turn in the spotlight. Kevin Kline's romantic Italian seems a close relative Chico Marx. Joan Plowright is the Yugoslav mother-in-law from hell. William Hurt and Keanu Reeves (who actually acts for a change) perform a Cheech and Chong-like double act as a pair of stoned assassins. Most pleasant surprise is Tracey Ullman's effective, and largely straight, role as Kline's long-suffering wife who is prompted to murder him when she discovers that he is a serial adulterer. But she wants it done nicely ("I want him dead, but I don't want him hurt" she explains). There are many wonderful moments as the cast bounce (sometimes literally) off one another. Some good dialogue, too (Kline's opening confession is priceless). But Kasdan's overall pace is somewhat uncertain. Moments that should be peaks - such as when the police discover Kline in bed with bullet wounds - seem to just fizzle out. And the happy ending - in such a black comedy - seems curiously misjudged. But there are many compensations, including the fact that the film does not seem to be overly concerned with political correctness.

5 out of 5 stars I love you to death.......2003-09-05

I absolutely loved this film. I laughed all the way through from the first line to the last. The acting was fantastic especially River Phoenix and Kevin Kline who were sensational. If you are looking for a comedy I strongly recommend this film. It's one you will watch over and over again.

        Amazon.co.uk Review

It's, like, Shakespeare, man! This good-natured and likeable update of The Taming of the Shrew takes the basics of Shakespeare's farce about a surly wench and the man who tries to win her and transfers it to modern-day Padua High School. Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles) is a sullen, forbidding riot grrrl who has a blistering word for everyone; her sunny younger sister Bianca (Larisa Oleynik) is poised for high school stardom. The problem: overprotective and paranoid Papa Stratford (a dryly funny Larry Miller) won't let Bianca date until boy-hating Kat does, which is to say never. When Bianca's pining suitor Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) gets wind of this, he hires the mysterious, brooding Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) to loosen Kat up. Of course, what starts out as a paying gig turns to true love as Patrick discovers that underneath her brittle exterior, Kat is a regular babe. The script, by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, is sitcom-funny with peppy one-liners and lots of smart teenspeak; however, its cleverness and imagination doesn't really extend beyond its characters' Renaissance names and occasional snippets of real Shakespearean dialogue. What makes the movie energetic and winning is the formula that helped make She's All That such a big hit: two high-wattage stars who look great and can really act. Ledger is a hunk of promise with a quick grin and charming Aussie accent and Stiles mines Kat's bitterness and anger to depths usually unknown in teen films; her recitation of her English class sonnet (from which the film takes its title) is funny, heartbreaking and hopelessly romantic. The imperious Allison Janney (Primary Colors) nearly steals the film as a no-nonsense guidance counsellor secretly writing a trashy romance novel. --Mark Englehart

3 out of 5 stars Good Teeny Chick Flick.......2007-10-10

Great for a rainy day, or when you just need perking up with a good bit of teeny romance.

It's a lovely, feel-good romantic teen movie - and it's not sickeningly girly either. I like Kat's wild independent, but underneath vulnerable character.

However, it is Ledger and Stiles' performances which have made this a successful movie of it's genre. They are not stupid-teenager/slut figures - but good real people.

No Lazy Lohans here. Good acting, good actors. Great film.

4 out of 5 stars Brings Back Happy Memories.......2007-08-27

I bought this film after having visited the city that it was filmed in and around, Tacoma in Washington State, USA.

It's a great reminder for me of having visited the area, including the school / university that is featured in the film - Stadium High, and yes, that bank that the motorcycle went down IS as steep as it appears in the film !.

Another plus with this film, besides it being rather amusing, is viewing one of Julia Stiles first leading roles as an actress.

All in all, a nice 'pick me up' film, based on Shakespeares' Taming of the Shrew. (I'd hardly call Ms Stiles a shrew !).

        4 out of 5 stars excellent!!!!!!.......2007-07-25

        i love this film.
its a typical chick flick with a feel good factor, i havent bought this but a friend recommended it so i hired it, i was pleasantly surprised as im not a chick flick lover but its definately one im going to buy

        5 out of 5 stars amazing!!.......2007-05-28

I don't own this but I rented it from the video store and after seeing it once it has become my favourite movie of ALL TIME!!!!!

I haven't read the taming of the shrew so I can't compare it to that but I am a real romantic and I love chick flicks, so this was a real treat for me. It wasn't all romance though as there are some incredibly funny parts but it worked well together.

I can't find ONE thing I hate about this film, let alone ten!! I would really recommend buying this film as it is just so good!!!

        1 out of 5 stars Awful.......2008-03-07

I really struggled to get to the end of this, its completely pointless.
Another one to add to the awful lesbian film genre-don't waste your time and money on it. Almost as bad as Cynara.

1 out of 5 stars Life, but not as we know it........2008-01-24

In three words? Boring, patronizing and bizarre.

As a social commentary on the modern lesbian lifestyle, this is about as insightful as the True Directions recruitment video in 'But I'm A Cheerleader'. Billing it as an analysis of the ups and downs of modern lesbian life is not only offensive, (every character was depicted with severe emotional and / or psychological difficulties, a couple to the extent where one wonders how they would actually function in society), it was downright odd. I did try hard to experience the film for what it was, and just absorb the character observations without demanding an easy narrative, but even that was impossible due to the characters' utterly imprenetrable and therefore unsympathetic motives. Whether this lack of emotional depth was due to poor scripting, direction or acting I don't know, and I doubt I would have found out (or even cared) had I watched it through to the end. I'm just so glad none of the lesbians I know are this weird!

2 out of 5 stars I should have listened to the others.......2007-12-14

I read the reviews and still rented it, mainly because there's a limited supply of lesbian films. It's not a gripper, very little actually goes on, and I kept expecting something to happen. On it's plus side, it's probably quite realistic about the very ordinariness of many urban lesbian's lives. Why that would persuade someone to go to the trouble of making a film about it is a mystery.

I can't recommend it unless you lead an extrememly quiet life (possibly in a convent) and would find this exciting.

        1 out of 5 stars Absolutely Terrible.......2007-09-13

I really struggled to get to the end of this film. All the characters are strange and not very much happens. The "high" point is where the lead tries to come out to her father - I have never cringed so much - it shouldn't be allowed!

1 out of 5 stars What was all that about?.......2007-07-14

Absolute rubbish - incredibly boring and irritating film. Can't believe I've just sat through that. Do yourself a favour and don't put yourself through it.
