5 out of 5 stars One of my fave horror movies!.......2008-02-02

I enjoyed the first and second but wasnt keen on the third, it went off the plot a bit. However this simply tells the same story as the first two halloween movies, yes its the same storyline over and over again but it never seems to bore me. I actually find the stalker scary. There isnt much gore in these films, but that doesnt ruin the story. I mostly love the suspense of a man stalking numerous people, its what makes Halloween a good movie. I simply love this.

3 out of 5 stars There is something wrong when Michael Return's this time..........2008-01-10

Michael reawakens from a 10yr coma and goes after his niece, Jamie played by Danielle Harris who stars in Rob Zombies new Halloween film "Halloween"
Dr Loomis Returns has he finds out that michael is missing and is determind to find him.
Storywise, this isnt has clever nor has suspenseful has the first 2 and of course to fit in with A nightmare on elm street and Friday the 13th series they upped the gore not much but is a definate upper, thats not a bad thing.
Halloween 4 is a decent Sequel which provides enough shocks to keep you entertined and for halloween fans a mention of Laurie Strode is a nice touch.
this film isnt a let down but it could of been better.

4 out of 5 stars Quick Reviews!.......2007-12-08

Michael Myers hears he has a niece and decides it is time for him to rise from his coma and begin his hunt again, having been burnt to a crisp 10 years earlier. He escapes from hospital and heads for Haddonfield, and for his niece Jamie, a pre teen girl. Unlike the previous 2 sequels, Halloween 4 has some effective scares and a decent plot. While it is still a cash in on the original, 4 (and 5) are the only other films in the series which can stand respectably with the original. Not as good, but not as terrible as you might expect. This is largely because of Danielle Harris' performance, she outshines every other cast member, who admittedly are playing stupid teens ready to be slaughtered, but the range of emotions she shows at such a young age proves that she is the best actress of her generation. However, she can't get a decent role, and is content to do voices for The Wild Thornberries etc.

As with most slasher sequels, the kill count is very high and the death scenes more elaborate and ridiculous, with most of the central characters being wiped out. However, the gore level is low, and the deaths are not as gratuitous or set-piece like as other films. Unlike most slasher sequels though, the script is good, and the twist at the end is very effective, if a little strange. The director does well, creating a fair amount of tension, and we do not simply sigh as we wait for the inevitable next kill and final showdown. Pleasance returns as Loomis and is as good as ever, but he now is beginning to show signs of insanity, as Myers is taking over his life. This theme is explored further is the following film. It seems that only now, intelligent audiences, fans, and critics are realising that this is a decent film in its own right- that it should not be judged because it is not Halloween. Overall this does have a few of the expected flaws of a sequel, but it will surprise you by being better than you would think. The DVD does not have any real features, but for fans of the series, this should be a quick purchase.

5 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST IN THE SERIES.......2007-11-06

Michael Myers breaks out of Ridgemont Psychiatric Hospital and heading off to Haddonfield, where his target now is Laurie Strode's daughter, Jaime (Danielle Harris) is now living with the Corruther's, Mom (Karen Alston), Dad (Jeff Olson) and daughter Rachel (Ellie Cornel). Jaime is plagued by nightmares of her uncle, Michael Myers, despite constant reminders that he is dead. When Myers escapes, Dr. Loomis goes out on the hunt and nearly gets fried by Myers at a rural gas station. Back in Haddonfield, Jaime is out trick-or-treating when suddenly Myers attacks, forcing Loomis and the police, led by Sheriff Meeker (Beau Starr), to intervene. They back to the sheriff's house, where his daughter Kelly, (Kathleen Kinmont) is getting it on with Rachel's boyfriend, Brady (Sasha Jenson). With Loomis out searching the neighborhood and Meeker investigating a local posse report, the rest turn the house in a fortress and prepare to defend it against Myers. He still breaks into the house and kills all but Rachel and Jaime. They escape, but Rachel is seriously hurt in the process. Loomis returns and finds Jaime running alone from Myers. They go to her school, where now Loomis is hurt by the invading Myers. Rachel returns and halts Myers momentarily and escapes with the posse. Heading out of town, Myers returns and kills the posse, and is then blown into a mineshaft by the police at the last minute. They return home, and meet with a striking case of déjà vu.

The Good News: What an ending! That was easily the highlight of this fast-paced entry. It set up the premise of part five and got the last great moment of the movie. By now, Myers had become very Jason Voorhees-esquire in that no matter what was brought to bear on him, he would still survive. The fast pace makes the movie seem much shorter than it really is, and is misleading since the action flies fast and free. This movie generates several good shocks and in fact rarely misses, something unusual in horror movies. The opportunities are varied, but this movie still gets about 80% of the shocks it set up, quite a high number considering the low number of shocks in movies today. The movie also does something only the original took pride in doing; it decided suspense could go into a horror movie and make it work. True, this one of the bloodiest entry's, but suspense, at least for me, makes a horror movie. The first dream sequence brings this point up exactly. The sequence goes for several minutes, and Myers is never seen until the last thirty seconds. Shopping for the Halloween costume is also a nice display of suspense. Harris actually turns in a believable appearance, and so does the rest of the cast. Pleasance is still the shining light in the cast, but the rest do respectable jobs for the genre. Also, the large cast allows for many killings, and the gore is nicely done. This is the bloodiest entry, except for 'H2O,' which is the goriest.

The Bad News: The stupidity of the town's people over Myers. If they didn't learn anything from the first two movies, then they should be killed. So much convincing on the part of Loomis is needed to get them to move into action that it nearly detracts from the movie. Several cast members could have thrown out for uselessness, as they just seem to wander around with giant target signs on their backs.

The Final Verdict: Almost a perfect movie. Combines a fast pace with suspense, gore, some humorous lines, and a feeling of enjoyment. Perfect for any occasion of horror movie buff.

4 out of 5 stars best "halloween" sequel........2006-09-20

this is in my opinion, the second best in the "halloween" franchise after the original.
first of all, donald pleasence is back(where would the films be without him?), a couple of new ideas have been added and the film has been successfully updated for the late 80s.
michael myers is now much tougher but he moves a lot slower as well; a cross between a zombie and a robot.
plenty happens to keep "splatter" fans happy but the confrontation between sam loomis(pleasence) and myers is one of the many highlights to be found.
the special features consist of the original trailer and a featurette on the making of the film.

Halloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers [1989]

Amazon.co.uk Review

"You can't kill the bogeyman", the children insist to a terrorised Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in the original Halloween. How right they are. Laurie is gone, but guess who's back in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers? Acting as if the third entry never existed, this instalment picks up 10 years after the original, with mad maniac Myers in a coma and moved to a new facility. But wouldn't you know it that as soon as a loose-lipped orderly lets slip that Myers has a surviving niece he springs back into action, leaving a bloody trail of corpses on the road to Haddonfield. Donald Pleasance returns as Dr Loomis, scarred and crippled from his last encounter with Myers and seething with a fanatical zeal to stop the freak from repeating his previous rampage. Pleasance is the best thing about the film as an ageing hero seemingly on the verge of madness who drags a bum leg in his manic rush to save little orphan Jamie (Danielle Harris), the 10-year-old waif terrorised by her homicidal uncle. Director Dwight Little has managed a generic if professional slasher picture, rife with improbabilities and dominated by a killer whose superhuman powers reach near-mystical dimensions, but he delivers the goods: shocks, stabs and cold, cruel killings. --Sean Axmaker, Amazon.com

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant ending.......2007-12-08

In Haloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers, (as suggested by the title) Michael Myers returns (Halloween III having been a completely separate movie and not featureing Michael Myers). It has been 10 years since the events of Halloween and Halloween II and Michael escapes once again, this time while bein transported between institutions in an abulence, this time determined upon killing his niece, Jamie.

Lorrie (Jamie Lee Curtis) in not in this movie. We are instead introduced to her daughter, Jamie, neice of Michael Myers, a girl who is about 7 years old and has horrible nightmares about her Uncle and is teased by the kids at school because her Uncle is "the boogeyman".

Michael Myers makes his way to Jamie in Haddonfield, leaving behind him a bloody trail of corpses.

I wasnt very impressed by this sequel (especially after the greatness of Halloween II). The story-line isnt that great and there is a long period of time in the middle of the movie where there are no killings. However, the reason I gave this movie 5 stars insted of only 2 or 3 was because of the twist in the end which I thought was absolutley brilliant and made up for the rest of the movie not being so good, in my opinion.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2005-03-05

This film is amazing. I really enjoyed it and the end was extremely scary. the scariest bit of the Halloween films is John Carpenters famous theme. As i said the end will leave you totally frightened.

5 out of 5 stars The second best Halloween movie!.......2004-06-04

No matter how much they all try, no one can seem to make a Halloween sequel which betters the original. Well, whoever made this sure came close to it!

Halloween 4 is a great slasher movie despite the bad reviews. It offers more gore then in any others, and has a much larger body count.

In many of the Halloween movies Myres rarely shows up (e.g. Halloween 5), and when he does, it's only to quickly slit a throat, and then he's back into the shadows...not in this movie however. He shows up frequently, and looks better and freakier then ever before. His killings are much more imaginative, gorier and not at all boring.

But even after all this movie has to offer, if you still dislike this movie, please....just watch the last 30 minutes!

If you enjoy this movie check out: Halloween 1, Halloween 2, Friday 13th, Freddy vs Jason, Nightmare on elm street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original).

2 out of 5 stars We've seen it all before..........2004-06-01

Sorry, but I didn't find this film scary at all. It's seems like too many horrorsequels has got a sad tendency of just using the old clichés from the earlier films and this is no different. The first Halloween was a classic but by just repeating the same plot, "surprise"-scenes and so forth doesn't make you scared a bit. I enjoyed "H20" much more!
