This camera is quite simply, awesome. Small enough to keep in your pocket, often mistaken for a phone and can be used for both pics and basic movies. Also a great range of features and settings available and a good menu system.
However when things started going wrong, they all started going wrong rapidly one after the other. After taking a tumble when someone knocked it out of my hands, the flimsy port cover for the battery and SD card broke and is barely hanging on. Also now (possibly after being at the beach and sand getting in the gears) getting an E18 error message and the lens will not withdraw fully of it's own accord. Simultaneously the screen now intermittently displays complete grey instead of the image and has trouble focussing.
All in all it's a very good camera, as long as you don't abuse it (slightly) as I have by taking it to film myself skiing and having it knocked out of my hands on the beach and in bars!!

Bought this camera before a trip to Thailand. Knew it was compact but was amazed nonetheless when I opened the box. Really easy to use, small enough to fit in your pocket without noticing it's there, stunning pictures, decent battery life, and works well with iPhoto. You will need a bigger memory card though and a case might be an idea if like me you're prone to dropping things when drunk!

I see the 7 mp is taking over and the 5mp seems to have gone up in price, so probably its worth getting the 7mp version.
I am delighted with it, my wife is delighted with her one. Easy to use, easy to carry and very well finished and presented. Its the same size as a mobile phone and comes with a charger and download cradle.
Buy a protective case for it as the screen will scratch in your pocket.
Excellant, it wont disappoint.

I already have an Ixus 65, friends and family have others. We all love them!!
But the Ixus I has caused some hassle. The ad states a 2.5" display. I thought wow how did they do it? But I bought it for my parents anyway. The item arrived late as the delivery man was using a map over 5 years old and couldn't find my road for a couple of days.
Then it arrived I opened it up to see a 1.8" screen not the 2.5" as advertised.
This fails the trade descriptions act by a long way and as such is against the law in the UK.
Trying to return something like this was a real pain unless I paid the postage and hoped to get the refund.
eventually got through to someone in Manila who was very helpful but always had to finish his script. And he had many to go through!!!
I hope to have my item picked up this friday. lets see...
brilliant little camera.......2006-05-30
it is so small it fits in the pocket of my handbag made for a mobile phone. It makes brilliant pictures and the battery last for quite long. It is very easy to use and when you take it out, everyone says oooh, because it is so small and stylish. Buy a new memory card, as the 16MB is definitely too small for anything. The download of pictures is so easy, especially if you can fit the memory card into your laptop and you will not be disappointed with the quality. Perfect partner to take with you every day: you never know who you may bump into...
