More features than you would ever want or need.......2008-01-09

I was given this camera for Christmas and thought that I would wait a few weeks before writing any kind of a review....

This camera is truely excellent.

The features that allow you to control the picture mean that almost every conceivable option is included. I must also say that the auto-focusing is probably the best I have ever had the pleasure to use. Although there is manual focussing available, I don't seem to do it as well as the auotmatic function.

One suggestion I do have is about the longer term protection of your camera. This model as a 58mm filter thread on it. If you ever scratch the non-removeable lens, then you have totalled the camera. I would suggest buying a 58mm filter (I have bought a circular polarising filter) that is left in place the whole time. If the filter gets scratched, then that £20 for a new one; much cheaper than a replacement camera. When you buy this camera, I strongly suggest that you also add a filter to shpping basket.

I could go on about the excellent quality prints that can be achieved, but many others have already done this.

Finally words: I think your search for an excellent camera in this price range has just finished. Don't bother looking any further.

FABULOUS FUJI S9600 DIGITAL CAMERA.......2008-01-06

Don't know what to say about this camera but fabulous.It has everything,crystal clear shots,manual zoom 28-300 and produces incredible pictures.It's not really a point and shoot,although it can be used for that but the results are crisper using the different and many features it has.Downside is the manual.I just had a quick look at it and then started using the camera and wow am I impressed.It is slightly heavier than some others but it is beautifully balanced so it doesn't feel heavy when taking a photo.The upside is you don't have to carry different lenses.I give it a 5 star.I use it in conjunction with the new Kodak 5300 printer and get the best prints ever.

Nice camera, shame it uses the silly XD cards. I believe Fuji's new model has reverted to SD which is a good move.
Good chunky camera, unlike the silly compacts which are so light and small. I especially like the fact it has a ring for zooming which saves on battery power. Unlike many people here I find the battery life to be excellent even with alkalines which I only ever use in a real emergency - like when I forget to charge the battery.
Re pixel count- it is unlikely you see much visual difference in quality between 3 and 9 mega pix unless you print particularly large images. I had two Minoltas before this camera and changed simply to obtain the swivel viewfinder for low level shots and the manual zoom ring. I still use the newer Minolta if I want particularly fast shots as the shutter lag is shorter. Having taken over 3000 pix with the Fuji I can happily recommend it.

Good camera, bad delivery.......2007-12-20

I recived the camera quickly but was shocked to find it had been left behind a 7ft fence which was locked. how it got over tht fence i have no idea! being an expensive item i was also shocked to find it was left outside and had not been signed for.

other than that i am very pleased with the camera so far.

This has got to be the best camera i've bought, it is very easy to use but make sure one reads the manual.
