I was surprised when opening the box - half of it was packaging, this is a really small camera, looks like a kids toy. It measures only 8.5cm long by 6 cm tall, which was a bit of disapointment as I was expecting somthing larger. But after a very short time I was amazed at the kind of power and functions this camera packs. Brilliant camera, even the wife likes it. Far superior to the 35mm Nikon I have. What a toy!!!

Autofocus struggles to focus on anything moving, including when the camera is set on sports scenes.

Quality of pictures is well below what I expected from a 7.1mp camera.

Battery life with normal batteries is appaling, but not bad on the nikon supplies rechargeables.

There is no user adjustable setttings, this camera is truly a point and shoot camera.

Autofocus indoors is very slow, shutter lag when pressing the shutter release is loooooooooong.

Recycle time on the flash is long too and the camera locks up till its recharged, this means you could be missing great photo opertunities while you wait for the flash to recharge.

I only had this camera for two days before sending it back and rejecting it as not fit for its purpose. What ever I did with it, picture quality was poor.

Sorry to be so negative but its my experiance with the camera.

Plus point, the black version looks great if your in the market for expensive ornaments.

After doing a search on the internet, it appears there is a fix that NIkon can do, it involves sending it back and they adjust some internal settings and update the firmware on the camera.

Real Value for Money.......2005-07-19

I've been wanting to upgrade my camera for a while now. It is my personal belief that if one buys a photocamera it should be either Nikon or Canon. Since my previous camera wasa Nikon as well (CololPix 3200) I stuck with Nikon.

This camera is really really cheap compared to others. It also provides you with 15 scene modes and (unlike some of the previous Nikon models) works with regular batteries and not only with special Nikon accumulators.

The quality of the pictures is really good, although the software provided with the product can be slightly complicated for the beginners.

The only drawback (if you can call it that way) is that you have to get a sizable SD card. Anything less than 512 Mb does not really make sense as at the 7.1 megapixel resolution the pictures take up to 3 mb each.

Overall this camera is a real Value for Money.
