While the 10x zoom lets you take close-up shots even when you cannot move closer to your subject, the wide-angle lens is helpful in situations where you cannot step back or move away from the subject. With the Panasonic DMC-TZ3, you can capture portraits of people with expansive scenery or large structures in the background, and you can zoom in or out to magnify a distant subject when desired. I've been looking to buy a digital camera for years and when I stumbled across this little beauty I never imagined that I would get something this good. The picture quality is superbe and yes it doesn't have a view finder but you really don't miss it. It takes video footage too and the sound quality is surprisingly good for a camera. I did have a little accident with it (dropped it on the concrete when I was up the Empire State building) but apart from a bit of scratched paint on the front the drop didn't seem to harm it in any way. It's a sturdy little thing and feels good to handle. You really can't go wrong with it.

Great Camera, shame about the view finder.......2007-12-27

I bought this camera to take on holiday at Christmas, I went to the Canary Islands for some winter sun. The Camera takes great photos, if and its a big if, If you are out in the sun trying to see the beautiful big screen with the sun behind you, all you can see is yourself. This camera needs a view finder, its useless in bright sunlight. Sorry I can't recommend the camera at all.
