Excellent Value, glad I bought this one!.......2007-10-26
Bought this cam a few days ago from Amazon (received in less than 18 hours!) and this is an instant hit! There is a review which states this cam has a cheap tinny feel to it, but Ive no idea where that comes from. Im a 6ft man and so my hands are fairly big, but the cam is perfect size and poses no problems there.. the menu nav system is easy to manage and again ive no problems with the user interface.
Im not really upto scratch on the specs of recent devices, but this cam has very good quality when viewing the vids on a mac (yes its highly compatible on my mac) and the zoom is pretty impresive too (although when finger is on zoom the focus is abit off). Battery power seems reasonable, ive not given that a full test yet though!
Like I said, I've only had the cam a few days but I really cant fault it in any department and especially for its price, size etc.. so why not 5 stars..? Well the only negative I can state is that the lens has a manual cap and in time im sure that will get loose or break.. (also there was no SD card included, but I guess thats not really a problem with the cam).
I doubt I'd have been as happy if I'd chosen a different one.
Really nice piece of Kit.......2007-09-22
Bought this after reading all the reviews and discussions I could find on the web. Opinion is mostly good with the odd bad review here and there. One important point i came across is that this camera saves files in a format (mp4) that needs a good codec to read it. there are apparently some not so good codecs and players out there that will make the films on here look badly pixelated. With the right codec the picture quality is excellent. I love this camcorder it is well thought out. to transfer to pc all you need do is plug in usb and drag it across. you save on the weight of Hard drive camcorders and gain a plus in convenient size and weight. It is easy to use out of the box, good battery life and all the more complex settings are available if you should wish to use them. For the price I would say it is amazing
A great piece of kit for the outdoor enthusiast........2007-09-21
This is a really neat piece of kit. It's light, compact, fully featured and takes great movies which are a doddle to edit in iMovie on a Mac. It's more durable than it looks and if you're a cyclist it slips easily into the back pocket of a racing vest. Why not five stars? An internal lens cap which glides away when it powers up is what is needed, not the plastic cap that is supplied. The case is little more than a dustcover and a wrist strap would have been much more useful than a neck strap. It's also a reasonable still camera. Don't stint on the SD card, buy a good quality one such as a Kingston 50x Elite Pro. You can't do action replays in real life.
Great video camera for it's size video quality very good.......2007-07-19
I have had the Sanyo cg65 for a couple of weeks now having bought it through Amazon, the camcorder is easy to use and the quality of the video footage is excellent the still pictures are no great shakes but I have a good stills camera to take care of that side of things. You will need at least a 2 gig card to make reasonable home movies especially at the higher quality I use a 4gig high capacity card which gives well over 2 hours worth of recording at the best quality more if you reduce the quality. In all a nice camcorder to own and use.
bad quality - just a gadget .......2007-06-26
I have just received it ...
It's my first digital movie camera... and so far all I can think of when using it is "the quality of that thing is really bad' - It's just a gadget really - it feels like a plastic gadget - The pictures aren't that good, and the movie are not really comvincing either. But it's small compared to other digital camera. The design isn't great either.

Sanyo Xacti CG65.......2008-01-06
I bought one of these on amazon pre christmas.Great little camera. It is remarkably compact and fits in a suit or jacket pocket without being noticed. That feature is good if you are carrying a phone and other gadgets. The second thing I noticed was it was lightweight and had a real quality feel about it. Flip out screen is a nice size and picture quality is good. Video quality was found to be very satisfactory as was the 6m pixel still camera. Handy zoom lens. It is intuitive to operate so users will not need to spend much time on the chunky manual. I bought a 2 gig card which gives me more or less 2 hours of video. I am not likely to need a larger card before downloading. Comes with usb and tv leads plus sep charger. Lens cap was included and a pouch. Would have liked to have seen a Sanyo leather case with the package. Camera looks very neat in black. I am very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it to readers.
Great little concept ........2007-12-23
I went for this camcorder after much hesitation. It's both a camcorder and a 6 megapixel still camera with a flash. Surprisingly, it managed both well.
Build: Head turner. Miniscule size & pocket friendly. Feels well made, the LCD screen has a confident, precise spring action. The lens is a few millimeters deep to the body surface which keeps it safe and clean. Contrary to other reviews I read; I had no problems keeping it still (even though I'm left handed). Decent quality LCD. Starts up in 2 seconds!
Stills: OK for a 6 MPX camera, slightly pixilated. Flash range is up to 1.7 meters. Impressive macro, clear down to 1 cm.
Video: equivalent to any standard definition digital camcorder with any other media (HDD, mini DV). Uses MPEG-4 compression. Becomes grainy in low indoor light with auto focus struggling as well.
Battery: claimed 70 minutes, less in practice (never timed it though). Has a standalone charger which I don't use as you can charge through the mini-USB port from your PC, car lighter or mains adapter.
Storage: SD or SDHC cards. You get 40 minutes / GB at the highest video setting. Can take up to an 8 GB SDHC card (thats 5.5 hours).
Software: basic ULead software.
Other functions: Doubles as a web cam. AV output to TV. Can capture your desktop (I found no use for this). Voice recording. Simple yet functional menu.
Overall: Great hybrid camera/camcorder for the home user with a greater price tag.
