Fuji Finepix E900.......2007-11-17

I bought a Fuji Finepix E900 from Amazon and was extremely pleased with it initially but it now puts wavy lines over some exposures. I thought at first it was an indication of me trying to operate the camera outside its normal parameters so I wrote to Fuji and enclosed an example of the problem. They phoned to say the camera has a fault and should be returned to them for repair at a cost of just under £100. I like the camera but I might as well put the money towards buying a new camera, not a Fuji of course. Without the fault I would have happily given the camera four stars.

having bought this camera as a carry about as opppessed to my nikon d 80. i was astonished at the picture quality. even shooting at night it coped very well and in manual mode you can realy tune it. with 9 mega pixels you can crop with no loss of picture quality. and the battery life is excellent. it also has 4x optical zoom. you dont grasp all it can do until you take a good look at the instruction manual. amazing camera for the price. only minus should come with case.

Wow!.......2007-11-12

The camera is amazing. It is compact yet has got many many features. When I described it to friends they thought it was a DSLR but boy were they surprised. It is small and light. The LCD screen is 2.5 inch and very clear/bright, especially when using in sunlight. It also has an optical view finder. The photo quality is incredible with a high ISO rating too.

There are a number of shooting modes and presets from fully automated to manual focusing priority shutter. I have also found the burst shot very helpful (takes a sequence of shots one after the other when you have pressed the button once) especially when shooting something which is moving.

The other fantastic feature is the movie taking. 30 frames a second with monoaural sound, you will be hard pressed to see any better with a camcorder. Excellent for catching those ad-hoc moments when the camcorder's still in its bag.

Coupled with 4 x optical zoom and 9 mega pixels this camera is perfect for those people who want a little bit more than a point and shoot and is also a great next step for those wanting to fiddle about with focus, priority shuttering and white balance. All in all a fantastic buy which I am sure will bring many happy photos.

Fantastic camera for the money.......2007-11-07

I've had this camera for almost a year now and had no problems whatsoever. I purchased this camera as a back up for my Canon digital SLR and it is small enough to fit in your pocket yet big enough for people with big hands to use. The battery life is outstanding. I purchased a 1GB memory card at the same time and managed to fill it (that's about 250 photographs) without having to charge the batteries once!The batteries themselves are supplied within the camera kit. They are 2 rechargeable 2500 Ni-MH AA's and their performance is excellent.The camera also has a useful 4x zoom which was the main attraction for me when I purchased the camera. The picture quality is very good indeed, particularly the close up photographs. It does suffer a little with the dreaded purple fringing when shooting objects against a white sky but that can be said for almost every digital camera. As for the quality of pictures under normal circumstances, I found that the images produced were sometimes a little cool and greens were a little too blue for my liking but that can be easily fixed with a bit of tweaking on the computer. One gripe though, I think Fuji should have provided a case with the camera.

I have an E900 bought from Amazon. I carry it in a padded case which is as tough as old boots, 10 years old and still going strong, bought from a high street photo chain. I wouldn't touch this case even with someone else's barge pole. If you want to protect your photo equipment you don't put it in junk like this.

Does exactly what I wanted.......2007-06-15

I don't understand the reviewers who bought this and thought it would be something it's not (there is a photo of it after all). It fits well, carries a spare card, protects the camera from scratches and light bumps and, best of all, goes on your belt so you can carry the camera with you all the time.

Not much more than a case for the e900. Camera fits a bit snug but OK.
Every review seems fair so far. If you want a simple case it's fine, if you want something extra then you'll be disappointed.

Better than I thought.......2006-10-21

I ordered this case then read the reviews! I thought oh,no, what have I done - I assumed I would be sending it back straight away. I was pleasently suprised, it is well made and a perfect fit for the e900. No it won't allow you to carry extra cards and batteries if you want this and to be able to hang it round your neck buy something else.

If however you want a well made compact case to protect your camera while you carry it in your pocket then I don't think you will find anything smaller or better than this.

What a nice camera and selection of kit.......2007-06-29

I bought this great camera for my wife in May 07 from Amazon and it came in a big box. The kit included a 512Mb XD card, the ARFXE02 and the wide (22mm 35 equivalent) and tele (270mm 35 equivalent) conversion lenses, 2 NiMH batteries and a UK/Euro (nice touch)convertable pins battery charger.

It all arrived just in time for her trip to Italy and in enough time to impress her with its ease of use.

I have a Fuji F10 that I bought last year, this gave us the AC adapter that some reviewers were missing. I think that the 6.3Mpix Super CCD is slightly superior to the 9Mpix SCCD on the E900, better high ISO performance and lower CA (purple fringing in bright light). Though the latter is easily cured using Photoshop. However,the higher resolution, the viewfinder, accessories and RAW capture make this a good camera to own and use. The AA batteries don't last as long as the bespoke Fuji cell in the F10 but are not a problem for spares (we have literally dozens of AA NiMH batteries from older digi compacts and if all else fails standard AA cells are available everywhere).

Strange thing is that Amazon keep trying to get me to buy the lens conversion kit even though it was already included in the bundle.

I have had the camera a dew months and it you are an amateur and keen to learn like me go for it.
The camera does the work for you and the batteries are seeming to last forever, its a bit bulky if you want a small point and shoot camera but I Love it.

I am well pleased with my Fuji FinePix E900 camera. Build quality and results are excellent. The 16MB memory card is an insult from a company like Fuji and it would be nice to have a case supplied. I frequently find that removing the camera from the genuine Fuji case has moved the settings dial from its chosen position which is a nuisance. Having said that I am happy to rate it with four stars.

Tops camera.......2007-06-02

I purchased this camera when the price was down on Amazon. Seeing what they are going for now makes me glad I did. I also bought the extra wide angle and telephoto lens. Using this camera is a breeze. Even my 11 year old daughter picked it up quickly. In fact so quickly she stopped using my old 3MP camera (which I gave her) and used this one to make some family videos. Overall a good camera. With the lens pack it'll do just about anything. Although a thorough reading of the manual is needed to get the best results. Have not had any faults or build quality problems with it.

You should have bought it before!!!!!

A brilliant camera for the price.......2007-05-29

This was my second digital camera purchase. I wanted a better quality camera with more features and more megapixels and this was great value for just under £150. This camera certainly delivers on both those requirements. Compared to my previous camera this feels weightier and more substantial and good quality. It is simple to use and gives great results, I cannot think of a situation when it hasn't delivered a good photo - unless I've been at fault. I use it mainly on the auto setting and use the telefoto a lot for zooming in on distant subjects. I bought the camera in Nov 06 but used it a lot on holiday in January 07 in the Maldives when I discovered, much to my dismay, that there was a mark appearing on the distance shots. The camera was returned to the manufacturer and fixed in about 1 week and I've had no problems like that since. The only gripe would be battery usage but I think thats a problem on a lot of digital cameras, best to buy spare rechargeables.... I was given a Tamrac camera case as a gift which fits this camera and holds memory card and batteries - invaluable! I also purchased a 1Gb memory card at a good price on Amazon as the one supplied when you buy the camera holds about 4 shots!
