This camera was given to me for christmas and I have to strongly disagree with the negative reviews it has - the camera (at the push of a button) has settings to adapt to a number of different scenarios, from day to night, high light, low light, close ups, landscapes (and my personal favourite - the panorama which allows you to 'stitch' 3 photographs together to form a 180 degree panorama shot) and as such is a brilliant little camera to just take around with you.

The shutter speed admittedly isn't as good as it could be, but with a little practice the delay is easily overcome, and the lack of a viewfinder is pretty much redundant as far as i'm concerned. The settings (as has been previously stated) can be adapted to suit all users, with an adjustable ISO setting, sharpness, white balance, focus points, colour balance.

While this isn't a professional camera with adjustable fstops, shutterspeeds etc, as a compact (which it is), solid little camera with a big LCD screen, it's done us proud with going out with friends and family meals and stuff all through christmas and new year. If you want a camera with a viewfinder then get one, if you want a camera with adjustable shutterspeed etc then get one, but if you want a camera which allows you to point and click and get a good result pretty much every time then you could do a lot worse than the Kodak v1003.

After purchasing this camera i then decided to look up the reviews for it on AMAZON.I dont know why i didnt check it out prior to purchase.Anyway i was gobsmacked to read the reviews rubbishing it and it was awarded only one star (had i made the wrong choice?).
I agreed with some of the things mentioned in these reviews such as speeds of shots and veiw finder etc but then i read the instructions and used the help menus provided on the camera display.I have found this to be a good little camera all you need to do is set it up correctly for your use.So to me personally i do disagree with the two existing reviews as these gentlemen had clearly rushed into use without reading the instructions.

Do not buy.......2007-11-25

No Viewfinder so when using the camera in full sun such as on holiday then it is point and hope. Shutter speed terrible hence catching a moment impossible. Video picture and sound quality very poor. Controls are difficult to use if your hands are on the large side. Only had the camera 6 months but will be replacing it before our next holiday with one with a viewfinder.

Don't buy it!.......2007-07-15

I bought this camera but was highly disappointed with it - so I took it back to the shop after 4 days of perseverence (the shop manager played with it & agreed it was rubbish!). There are several reasons why I don't rate this camera...you press the shoot button, but by the time the camera takes a photo of the image, your family pet or your child, are half way down the street - so it's no use for snapshots. Also the picture quality isn't as good as one may expect - the pictures were grainy & I had to edit them as the pictures were still dark despite the flash; and finally, it isn't straight forward to use, and you get very little support on this matter. I exchanged it for an Olympus U 760 & am happy again. I personally recommend the Olympus because it's easy to use, great pictures, great for snapshots, and you can use it as a cam-corder for up to 43 minutes - which is great fun! Take my advice, buy the Olympus U 760 instead, you won't see a negative review about it, unlike the Kodak V1003!
