Excellent........2008-01-06
My parents bought me this camera for Christmas - for a bargain price of £45 from ASDA, I might add - along with a 2GB memory card, and I am so pleased with it. It goes everywhere with me - it's very light and handy for travel, fitting easily into my handbag and slightly less easily into my pockets. It comes with a strap, which is excellent if, like me, things are prone to leaping unexpectedly from your hands, and is really easy to use on the Auto setting to take quick snaps of your daily adventures, and it's also very simple to change flash settings, with a nice setting for preventing red-eye - handy for those blue-eyed people you know. :)
For those more camera-savvy who are interested in more high-tech photography, the scene settings are quite varied, with settings for snow scenes, action shots, self portraits and many more. It also has a good macro setting for taking close-up photographs, as well as a very capbable auto-focus with center-focus and multi-focus settings which I've found help to take clear, sharp pictures whatever the subject.
It also features a fairly decent capability for taking videos - although a high-capacity memory card is recommended for those who do want to make a lot of use out of the video function, as they take up a lot of space. Videos have to be uploaded to a computer in order to play sound and I haven't yet previewed any videos on my computer, but the image playback on the camera screen is of quite a good quality and it's extremely simple to take a video with the camera; simply switch the setting to 'video' and then press the shutter button to record.
The camera also features the ability to crop photos and 'One Touch technology', which is a really simple photo-editor built into the camera. It's not quite Photoshop, and it doesn't work very well on all pictures, but some pictures can be made to look much brighter and clearer with just a few button presses.
It's also really easy to review the pictures you have taken (simple press the 'review' button!), and the camera displays both how many picutres you have taken (via a photo number in the top corner of each photograph) and how many you have left to fit onto your memory card, so you'll never run out of space without warning. With the Easychare software for your computer you can easily arrange your photos into albums both on your computer and on your camera.
Another extremely helpful feature is the Help/Information button - for every option on all of the camera's different menus, you simply have to press this button and it tells you exactly what each option does. It's just like having a manual built into your camera, and far easier than having to check the index of a paper manual whenever you get a bit lost while you're learning how your camera works.
I've noticed that some people find the camera's lack of an integral battery and chrager to be a slight drawback, but I disagree. Instead of your camera having to be out of action while it charges, you simply have to put new batteries in. However, with regular AA batteries you might find this to be a very expensive venture - I recommend instead buying two Kodak Ni-MH AA rechargable battery packs and a charger for them. I've found that these batteries have a comparatively long life (around 4-7 days, depending on on frequency of use) for each charge, and while one set is recharging you can use the other set.
All in all, so far I have found it to be an excellent camera choice, whether for a beginner or an experienced photographer. It's by far worth more than the bargain sale price that my parents purchased it for, and is even worth paying more for it than it's priced here on Amazon. I have no doubt that there are better cameras out there, but if you're not willing or able to spend hundreds of pounds then I truly recommend this camera - you'll be hard-pressed to find another camera of its calibre for less than £100.
simple and effective.......2007-12-27
My grandson got this camera bundled with the printer/docking station and loves it to pieces. The only gripe is a measly internal memory and miniscule ink in the printer..Otherwise a cracking camera for those uneasy with digital technology and fidgety controls..
Kodak Easyshare C613 Digital Camera - Black.......2007-12-10
I was looking for a low cost camera with good quality pictures which was very easy to use. This camera is an excellent choice! Great value, idiot proof to use and looks fab. All the buttons you need to use for simple picture taking are all clearly labelled on the back, and the menu has an info button which explains everything in the menu options so editing pictures on the camera and changing camera settings couldnt be simpler! the camera is small and light, and i got mines in black; it looks very impressive. The internal memory takes just over 10 photos so definately invest in a memory card to make it worth while.

Kodak Cracker!.......2007-12-08
After reading a few of these reviews I decided that £45 for Asda this had to be worth a try.
Build quality - Excellent. Light if a little small for bigger hands. The battery door seems a little bit flimsy, but over all when you look at the alternatives at this price nothing compares.
Image quality - I've not really scrutinised the quality yet but the few shots I've taken so far are perfectly exposed and crisp. Its a 6MP camera which is plenty for a compact. I personally think anything more is overkill because small lenses simply won't supply the quality to support that kind of definition.
It's simple to use and the screen is a good size. I'm giving this 5 stars, and anyone who bothers to use bundled free software clearly is being led entirely by a manual.
Take my advice, just load the drivers for your PC and use photoshop or possibly Gimp (free alternative).
Not quite what it says on the tin.......2007-11-04
The camera itself is OK, if a little heavy/clumsy. However, the software and "easyshare" aspect is terrible. Factoring in the number of times it has crashed, refused to transfer pictures (It will absolutely NOT transfer any movie, and if you try, it will crash your machine), and transferred multiple copies of the same picture, I'm tempted to throw the infernal thing against the wall.
I wouldn't recommend this to a friend.
Easyshare software.......2007-10-17
I haven`t got this model but have a CX6200 2.1 MP which I bought for £80 around 4 years ago and is well made.
I have been looking at this model with a view to upgrade to one with optical zoom
If this new model takes as good a picture as the CX6200 you will not be dissapointed, they look better than the ones taken with my Canon 35mm film camera.
The Easyshare software is simple to use and load onto a p.c and this p.c is only a few months old.
I did have issues with other software using VISTA so I went back to XP and now have no problems with any software.
The Easyshare software can also be downloaded from the kodak website if you prefer not to use the installation c.d [I have used both]
The easyshare software allows you to edit your photo`s [crop, ect],print in many sizes, burn to c.d or email, also has various named albums to store your photo`s in, also fine for scanned photo`s
I also have an original Kodak Instamatic 155x from 1971 which still works fine after all these years, which I guess goes to show Kodak make good cameras
Not a bad camera for the money .......2007-10-02
I was looking for a small simple to use camera to take on holiday and use to take photos for ebay and I came across this one. The camera itself is smaller than i expected which was a bonus, its VERY easy to operate; I picked up the basics within minutes and the LCD screen is nice and big. My bf is the technical wizz and told me not to bother installing the CD and from the other reviews I'm glad I didn't. It would have been nice if the batteries that were provided were rechargable but its not too big a deal.
LOOKS LIKE IT CAME OUT OF A CRACKER - AND BEHAVES LIKE IT TOO.......2007-09-06
I bought this camera this week and I am sorely disappointed with it. Having previously owned Pentax and Panasonic digital cameras which I paid around £80 for, I was gutted when this one arrived. It has a cheap, tacky look to it. I took some pictures outside with it and was not impressed with the quality. Then I tried to take some pictures inside, and guess what??! The flash doesn't work, no matter what setting it is on. Needless to say, the camera is now winging its way back to Amazon and I have demanded a refund. My advice is steer clear, for an extra 20 or 30 quid you can buy a really decent camera, and this one is anything but.

Kodak EasyShare Z612 Review.......2007-11-20
Very disappointing overall. Pictures taken inside using built in flash are grainy with a yellow tint. The video facility is very poor often failing because the camera can't write to the SD card quick enough.
I have a Kodak Z700 digital camera which I am delighted with (but it only has a 5 x zoom lens), hence my decision to upgrade to its big brother.
Because the Z612 is so poor, I've carried on using my Z700. Its picture and video quality (using identical SD cards) is much better. NOTE - video footage can't be played in TV DVD players though!!
RE batteries, suggest you get rechargeable CRV3 Li-Ion batteries which are less than £20 incl charger and last for ages on a single charge.
Kodak Z612.......2007-10-15
Have been using this camera for over a year now, and it cost a hell of a lot more than it does now.
Never thought I'd ever buy anything apart from film branded Kodak, but this is a gem.
Mainly bought it for the 12 times zoom and stabilizer, but cannot fault the camera in any way.
At the time of buying I bought a second battery direct from Kodak. A bit pricey but worth it. The 2nd battery stays permanently charged in the bag, and runs for ages, and I do mean ages, on each charge.
This is a superb camera, which I rate 10 out of 10.
Z612 Kodak.......2007-10-06
Excellent camera. Light to carry. Excellent zoom. Excellent photos. Everything you'd expect from Kodak. Point and click. I'm sure it does a lot more than that too, but why bother when the photos are that good anyway.
good camera but batteries very difficult to obtain!.......2007-06-25
This camera is a great little camera but a word of warning, it uses Kodaks own brand battery the Klic 8000 rechargeable and not normal AA rechargable batteries. Try as I might I cannot obtain spare batteries from local photographic shops or comet, currys etc. Online options are scarce too.
Had I known this I would not have purchsed the camera. Kodak online store has the batteries for about £25 incl postage etc. but if you don't want to put your card details online they don't accept other payments such as cheque etc.
beware!
Quality photos with ease.......2007-05-25
I wanted a camera with a larger optical zoom without having to buy a suitcase to transport it.
This is fantactic! It's light, so easy to use and the quality is excellent. one touch and you can change the picture mode, colour, pixcels and more without having to read the manual. All can also be accessed without having to go through several layers of menus.
Gets my vote purely on the ease and speed of use.

Customer Reviews:
Great design spoiled only by battery power problems.......2007-07-13
I was given this camera as a present 6 months ago and was initially very impressed especially with the features packed into such a small sized unit. It performed pretty well for the first few weeks. However, over the last few months I have increasingly experienced some of the same problems others have reported e.g. shutting down unexpectedly (sometimes leaving the lens cover open) as well as others such as not charging reliably. I have traced all these to the battery/battery circuit. Kodak do suggest cleaning the battery terminals if some of these symptoms arise. Sometimes this works, but not always. I'm not sure if it is the battery, the battery contacts or the power circuit in the camera. However, there does seem to be a problem relating to this area with some of the V610s. My camera works fine when connected to its mains power supply unit (PSU), which seems to prove the problem relates to running off the internal battery.
Overall the picture quality is very good and the video quality is pretty amazing given the camera size - and you could fill a 2Gb memory card with a one hour-long take if the battery lasted long enough. I accept that sometimes the white/light areas are a bit overexposed, but this can be compensated for to some extent. Also the camera is not brilliant in low light, except for near subjects with flash, and the autofocus hunts when you are at the long end of telephoto (i.e. 10x) - but the Kodak V610 is certainly not alone in this respect. No, overall I would be very happy with this camera if only the battery/power issues did not make it unreliable. I have yet to decide whether it should go back under warranty - but its interesting that these are now hard to get hold of (I wonder why?) - I might just have to keep it and use an external battery supply since there is still nothing on the market to match it.
Excellent wide angle lens V705.......2007-06-09
Not sure how unlucky other people have been with the V610, but my experience of the Dual Lens V705 has been excellent - great wide angle photos (22mm) for interior shots of buildings and spaces....and outside in daylight also very successful from the desert in Dubai to grey London !
The lens always opens without problems, the battery has never let me down - even after taking 500 pictures....I bought my camera in Hong Kong for about £130 and it has been regularly used everyday in my work - good value for a year's constant use.
i also think v610 is extremely disappointing.......2007-04-16
I agree that the camera only takes very grainy pictures unless it is extremely bright (as the other reviewer says). Even on the higher exposure 'indoor' settings, quality doesn't improve.
My particular camera has had all sorts of problems for no reason I can see. I'd understand if it malfunctioned as a result of rough treatment or exposure to liquid etc, but I honestly do not know why I've had these problems, it just seems fragile.
It turns on and then off again, and the lens cover does not retract and close, and then didn't turn on at all, which means that I have had to send it back to kodak once already, only to find that after working for a few hours, all the same problems recurred. When I tried to use the USB cable to download to my computer, the camera was not recognised (easy-share software of no use for that problem).
The on-line help treats everyone like they can barely find the on button, (ie. only covers very basic problems), and the diagnosis it offers is that I may have a "power problem", which I already knew.
I appreciate that my experience may just be my bad luck, but I would not say that this is reliable and well-made overall. The picture quality in average (not particularly low) light alone justifies complaints.
I gave it one star because it has a good zoom and the potential to actually be a decent little video clip camera with the 2GB memory card I bought to go with it. But when I think about it, I only resorted to short clips because the picture quality was so bad anyway.
My future contact with Kodak will be a real test to see whether the company really means what it says about customer service. I will have to send it back again (another 3 months of waiting) and ask for a complete refund or replacement. Without wishing to seem vexatious, I also dislike the fact that the support phone line insist that you call an 0870 number (from which kodak makes money) and then keep you on hold, but that's standard for a lot of companies these days, but also a sign of how serious it is about support.
If there is anyone else who has had experiences, then do please be a good consumer and write reviews. It is always good to know that you are not alone, or see lots of happy people out there which gives you a sense of whether this really is extremely bad luck or a common complaint.
Anyway, despite it being very small and sleek on the outside, in retrospect I would not be seduced and go for a different camera. We've had a clunky little fuji that has been really great for 4 years, so this kodak 'upgrade' for the £250 or so I paid for it at the time was a huge disappointment.
Very disappointing - totally useless indoors or in low light.......2007-02-21
Having read the first review of this camera posted on Amazon I decided that on balance it sounded like a very good buy and suitable for my needs and so bought it in December for the price as it was then of £210. Unfortunately I have been extremely disappointed with the camera's performance - it doesn't seem able to take a clear unpixellated ungrainy shot except for in really bright sunlit conditions. As for photographs in poor light or indoors - forget about it. I used it on holiday in Barbados but ended up having to photoshop almost every picture taken. The zoom is indeed impressive but as expressed by the first reviewer, "the practicality of such an extensive focal range - especially as it requires very bright conditions, not to mention a steady hand" renders it almost totally redundant. Additionally the various scene modes don't seem to make any difference to the poor quality of photo achieved. I spent an hour taking photos of the same view and was unable to take a decent shot in any of the scene modes including the manual mode. I am not the sort of person who usually posts complaints but I am so let down by this camera in every respect (except for the large LCD) that I am sending it back to Kodak to check that it isn't faulty and failing that will be evoking my statutory right that it is not 'fit for purpose'! Previously I had had a Sony Cybershot DSC W1 (purchased in Sept 03) which was a brilliant little camera - cheaper, easier to use, smaller and reliable.
But..........2007-01-27
Go to pcworld.co.uk now and order this product for £149.89 (27.01.07). Read other reviews for performance information!
Customer Reviews:
Fab camera, slightly dissapointing though.......2007-08-14
I was very impressed with this camera when I first received it as I was pleased to have a good camera at last!
Good it is, its solid enough to hold properly without wobbling during a photo, quick at taking the photos (not a delay like some cameras seem to have), its very easy to use (even my parents managed!) and it looks good too.
However the video camera setting is dissapointing which lets it down. It's very dark and theres no way of changing this.
However if you're more interested in taking photos than videos, then I would highly recommend this camera.
The only reason I have mine no longer is because it fell in the sea :( nothing to do with the camera, just an accident!

Pictures good, movie problematic.......2006-08-22
Pros :
- This camera takes great pictures
- Simple to operate
- Battery life is very good
Cons :
- Movie mode is problematic to say the least. Movie is recorded OK on the camera, when you transfer it (in quicktime format) you have no end of problems as this camera does not conform completly to the quicktime standard. The upshot the movie freezes and stops and loses sync.
