Is it worth the money?.......2007-12-16

HI,
having seen the benefit of using a high spec monitor for execellent picture quality during gaming,I would suggest that they cost of the monitor is justified. However for non-gamers I am sure one of the samsung monitors with a lower refresh rate would be perfectly adequate. The other benefit of a flat screen is that you have more desk space!!

I'm very pleased with this buy.

Very good quality at a very nice price, good for Movies games and just normal PC usage. Colours are real and vibrant with little to no screen delay. (Plug your Xbox360 or PS3 into it and you wont be disapointed)

A small amount of background bleed at the top and bottom of the screen but this doesn't effect the picture quality.

S, A & C panels, there's no difference!!!.......2007-09-09

Ignore anyone who says that S panels are any better than the A or C panels. This simply isn't true. The difference between that panels is they are made by different manufacturers who are associated with Samsung. They have slight differences in their native setting but if you have a play with these settings they will all look exactly the same.

Mine is a cracker........2007-09-07

This is my first LCD monitor. I bought it off a software developer. This guy was also into gaming and films downloaded off the web, big-time, so I reckoned he must know his onions. Why would someone who both earns their living AND spends most of their leisure time staring at a screen, get a duff one? To join in the which-model/manufacturer debate, I can report that my monitor declares itself to be an A, made in Slovakia.

The results are really very impressive. Fortunately for me, the previous geek lodger has been replaced by another one. He spends all his waking hours staring at screens, too. His first reaction, on setting up the the screen and my new pc was "Wow!" I have peered intently at the screen for signs of the reported 'back-light bleed' but mine shows no sign at all of this. I also can see no sign of a dead pixel, though I grant that I may be lucky, as many screens have one or two and still fall into the 'acceptable' category. The fact that there are none in mine shows that it can be done. I don't know where mine was bought from originally. For such an important part of your cyber life, I'd recommend a bomb proof supplier. There are a few. The screen itself will knock you out.

Cracking monitor.......2007-07-24

Before i bought this monitor (from Dabs, ahem) i read about the A,C and S panels. After extensively researching it would appear that it affected the SM226BW panels only. I can't actually see a panel indicator on the back of the monitor. I have a superb display from my 8800GTX card and DVI connector. I mainly use it for gaming and it brings out hitherto unseen levels of detail. As a reference point i had a fast 2m Viewsonic TFT beforehand and the difference is really astonishing. I would recommend one of these monitors but if you can the bigger monitor is not a huge amonut of ££ over this one. Room size dictated my purchase and i think its superb. Can't comment on Pixmania though..
