I bought this camera for £40 from a well known supermarket, mush cheaper than Amazons price but was still very disappointed at the quality.

On the plus side you will get an integral battery with charger and camera case included - and it's very neat and light. That's where the good points end. Photo quality was far poorer with this 5mp camera than my old 3.2mp Canon - grainy, poor definition. The flash is not automatic and on indoor shots it's dark without it and white glare with it. Outdoor shots are a little better but still not as good as the 3.2mp canon. Fortunately the shop took it back and I was able to spend not much more for a Kodak which is much better.

Good Value if somewhat disappointing.......2007-08-16

If you buy this Camera for around £60.00 then it really isn't as bad as a some of the reviews that I have seen on this and other sites might suggest. The picture quality when taken outside is pretty good , although in very bright conditions some straight lines produce odd effects. In low light conditions the picture becomes grainy. The real let down is the flash which is over bright and can produce some hideous whitening of peoples faces. As a first digital camera for a child it works very well. The battery life is acceptable and it holds a charge well. There was no problem inserting the correct flash media. Those who didn't get on well with this camera possible didn't really give it a chance or had a bad example. In comparison with my 6yr old 2.2 megapixel camera the results are almost as good but then my camera cost more than 4 times as much. A good camera for a child and one that will produce pretty decent results when used correctly. Not one for the professional photographer or the keen armature but easily up to the standard of a cheap Instamatic. My son got one for his birthday and he has used it a lot, many of the pictures are very good, most especially those taken outside in decent but not over bright lighting conditions.

I bought this camera on line andI am very disappointed with it.It looks and feels like a freebie,the on/off switch moves on its own and the pictures are grainy,not what I would expect from 5 pixels.The flash "whites"out any images that you use it for. Although the video mode produces quite a quality image this camera is an all round washout.

Terrible camera.......2007-06-22

This camera is awful - pictures do not suggest that they have been taken with 5 mega pixels - more like .5. The results are truly terrible. We had to cover half of the flash before we could get a decent picture, otherwise the result was a white blur. I have far superior pictures with an old 1.3 mega pixel. Definitely steer clear of this one. If this is what vivitar produce - avoid them at all costs. A con to describe it in the way they do.

Good little scanner for the money.......2008-01-10

This Canon scanner is good value. It is a smidgen over A4 size and about 2cm deep and looks sleek in silver. It is totally powered over the USB so it is convenient for occasional use - I may even just slip it into a cupboard when it's not being used. It even works on a tiny vertical stand so takes up little space, and takes 2 seconds to flip to the traditional horizontal flatbed position.

Resolution is up to 2400x4800 dpi which frankly is overkill when you print at 300dpi max. A big plus for me was the decent Mac software that came with it (I use MacOSX Tiger). Scan speed is quick too at 14 seconds.

NOTE - mine came with a USB cable so don't buy an extra one.
