This one's the way to go.......2004-03-13
I bought this camcorder to replace a fairly basic analogue model. I wanted to be able to edit digitally but also to convert my old analogue content to digital and put it on DVD, so I needed DV in/out as well as analogue in.
This camera meets all these needs and as an overall package I can't find it lacking. Picture quality is great, especially as it has 1.2 million pixels to work with and the stereo sound is superb.
I always look for robust engineering in the products I buy and this camera doesn't disappoint. It's solid but still not too heavy or unwieldy. I did a lot of comparison before I chose my model and I think this one is hard to beat at this price point. Thoroughly recommended, especially combined with Pinnacle Studio 9 and a DVD burner.
Novice Photographer.......2004-01-21
I've just recently bought this camcorder, me and my gf were shopping around for days on end looking for the best for our money, i must admit i did go a bit over budget with this one, but it was worth every penny of it!! Everything from it's styling to it's features is spot on, i consider this to be a bargain. The only let down being that u don't get a tape or firewire cable, but like the reviewer above, i bought the pinnacle studio pack which comes complete with everything needed to get going. I have to admit, i know nothing about camcorders, my gf is the expert but within minutes i was up and running and already i've created my first movie and put it onto disc. It's so easy to use and the battery life is commendable. Overall i definitely don't regret going over budget. It may not be the most expensive cam out there but it sure is excellent value for money. Go order it now!! :)

Great camcoder and easy to use.
Pity about the software and manual.
I had to buy Pinnacle software as the camera would not download onto computor using USB connection and the supplied packages
The manual detailing the data transfer between camera and TV/video and camera to camera is plentiful BUT the details of transfering from camcorder to computor is confusing with a manual and an information sheet to try and understand and combine.
The software manual has to be printed from the computor causing confusing on the operation of the programmes. One has to print the manuals to understand, if you are lucky, before using the supplied packages. I wasted an afternoon and evening trying to transfer data from the camcorder to the computor.
With the Pinnacle package I was able to install the DV card, cable and CDs and download from the camcorder within an hour.
Lovely camcoder pity about the software and manual.
