Digital Cammera Trickery.......2005-03-17

Okay so its not a bad video cammera, as long as your useing it as a video cammera, it lacks in photo quality when trying to do standard shot close up fiddly work but it wasnt purchased to do that with, it was purchased to film parties and gaming videos and such like. Was a gimick toy to be played with, its a good quality cheap cammera. The out put on the side cammera is very clear and you can se quiet well with it, I have to admit its not to keen on 60 watt bulbs and the picture seems to be quiet dark when using these, but in day light and with 100watt bulbs the picture is clear. This was only noticed as the footage from my birthday party shot in the room is quiet mirky due to useing 60watts bulbs in the living room but the hall way and the kitchen footage was very clear and in these rooms 100watt bubls are used. It is a nice light inexpensive cammera that has its uses but if you want some thing profesional this isnt for you.

Good camcorder for starters........2005-02-14

I just bought this cam from a store. It's cheap and has very cool features for those people who are just starting in photography and filming.

I'll start with bad things:
1. This camcorder can't shoot movies in dark places, or a room without any sufficient light. You must have a enough day light in a room or the movie will be very dark.
2. The zoom feature is jerky. Not very smooth. The zooming isn't from the lens, it's actually a digital zoom. Meaning, it zooms in the picture.
3. I'm not sure if everyone encounter this, but sometimes it dies even though the auto-off/on is OFF. But it dies, not all the time though.
4. The slot for the Compact Flash Card is quite difficult to put the CF card in. You have to be careful to slip in the card or you might bend the needles that goes through the CF Card.
5. The internal memory is very small, esp. if you still can't afford to get 1GB CF Card. Only 16MB.
6. If you're riding in a car and taking videos, you'll get bad sounds while the car is moving.
7. The mic is so sensitive, you can hear the clacking sounds of the zoom slider everytime you use it. Be gentle on using the zoom slider so prevent the clacking sounds.
8. Too bad you cannot use this as a webcam.
9. This cam doesn't show how much space you still have in your CF Card. Same as the battery.

So far these are the bad things I noticed.

Now the GOOD ones:
1. Pictures are good. You can shoot pictures up to 4MP.
2. You can shoot up to 29fps of movie.
3. You can use 1GB Compact Flash Card, especially if you like taking videos a lot.
4. Shooting video outdoor is good. Especially when it's sunny. Although you'll get a black spot when you focus directly to the sun.
5. Cool thing about this is you'll get a tripod, wrist strap, bag and shoulder strap, USB cable, A/V cable for TV/VCR, and video editing softwares.
6. The manual said it's recommended to use rechargeable batteries. Coz other digital cameras doesn't recommend using rechargeables.
7. If you live in two paces like US and UK, both have different video systems. You can setup the DV5 either NTSC or PAL for playback directly to your TV or VCR.

Well...so far these are the things I noticed for this item. I like it as my first digital camcorder.

Good Camera.......2004-12-16

Ok. The price for this camera has just fallen considerably from 170 to 100 pounds. Which presents good value for this camera. Now what sets this apart from the other Mustek 5000 5500 and the DV4 its its performance, the resolution of still is considerably higher than the competition, and this product has been designed to do its job, take picture, and film clips. Unlike, the other competitors models where most of the emphasis was on the "additional features" and lets be honest who wants an mp3 player the size of a video camera:? not me.

This product out performs the DV4 in many ways, the res is higher for still, there is double hte fps in clips, and it can take 1 gb flash card.

This is a camera that is perfect, for filming and takin clips. If you want an all round gismo buy sumthing else, if you want to do the job of recording and pictures get this.

You get all the stuff you need, tripod, case, strap and a good manual. Its well worth the money.

Not as good as the Nisis DV4 model.......2004-09-16

I purchased this camera to replace my excellent Nisis DV4. Primarily as I wanted a faster frames per second video record.

Although the camera has many useful features, like a tiltable LCD viewing screen and a 3megapixel resolution, as well as the ability to shoot over an hour of video footage with a large capacity storage card, it did fall down is some respects.

The zoom was very jerky compared with the DV4 model and the control buttons needed to be far more ergonomic in their placement. The most annoying feature though, is that the video record no longer gives any indication of how much time is left on the storage card.

Although many improvements have been made with the DV5, its build quality is not in my opinion, as good as the Nisis DV4. With a little more work, the DV5 could have been a superb camera.

what a great camera.......2004-08-17

the nisis dv5 digital camera is one of the best around at the moment with only the mustek/dv5000 and the dv5500 to compete against. with its new design you would swear it cost at least £300. the main problem with this camera is the memory, it comes with 16mb built in but that only last for about 100 seconds so you might want to upgrade to a 128mb compact flash card
