What a great piece of kit.......2007-12-13
My old camcorder stopped working and I wanted to replace it with one that was easier to transfer to PC. Hard disc camcorders were too expensive so I did a bit of research and came up with the Sanyo. What a great buy. For family memories, movies and pictures it does a great job. OK so the pictures taken inside are not that great since the flash does not work that well and there can be a bit of shake on movies when zoomed in. Having said this its size price and ease of use are fantastic. Unless you are a budding Stephen Spielberg get one.

I bought the sanyo Xacti for filming my blog at my workshop,and didnt want have too precious about it getting dusty or damaged so for the money i thought id take a chance,and have been very impressed with its many functions and the way an single image can be taken from the video footage,for really good quality filming i would be prepared to spend a bit more money but for a camera you can just carry around in your pocket and use it a not so friendly camera invironment like a workshop i think its a very good buy.

I work with Computers a lot so I may be biased, BUT the Digital Movie Camera I received shocked me with its pure lack of image quality. Dont get me wrong I wasnt expecting HD or anything, but I was expecting a picture I could at least make out an a 32" Samsung TFT TV without squinting. I found myself apologising for the quality to those in the room as I was shocked, and thoroughly disappointed. As long as you intend to watch them as small pictures on a PC dont bother at all, I may have had a bad one but I am asking for a refund. As an aside, my camera had a persistent white "blob" on the TFT screen, which also made its way onto the recorded video images. To be honest the annoying white blob was the most in focus thing on the screen. I am not a beginner and know a fair bit about photography etc, I checked every website and every manual to see if I had done anything wrong, unfortunately I hadn't and the picture only got worse as I reduced the quality. Not a happy purchaser, poor product and faulty. Would only look clear if you had Cataracts, I fear. Was purchased from Pixmania, through the Amazon website.

Got one of these for a relative who isn't good with modern technology. The key features I was looking for were ease of use, robustness, reasonable image quality and simplicity when transfering movies from SD card to other media.
This scores very highly on all these counts. Maybe you could fault it for being a bit too small to hold at times but then you can carry it anywhere in a convenient pocket. It also starts-up very fast!
As my relative doesn't use a computer the fact that they can copy movies straight onto an old fashioned video recorder is a big plus (for those more able, it has all those features you'd expect for copying to PC and making DVDs).
Downsides? There isn't an SD card included in the box (although they're cheap enough to buy). Buttons are quite stiff to press and hamper both still and video camera operation and where's the lens cap?
I think it's great value though and if 640x480 video quality is good enough for you then this does it all very well.
sexy kit.......2007-09-26
got one & used it for 2 weeks holidaying in vegas,day & night time filming was a breeze.photos are poor quality but as a camcorder , great.sound quality is ok but crap on play back via the unit,but thro the tv when back home is great.the drivers for it have poor menue for use on pc so i used another one for it,shame, but thats it, the rest is good news. so well done sanyo.you can have 9 out of ten off me.
