Allcam S25 is a sleek & beautiful enclosure for all 2.5" SATA laptop hard drives. It consists one plastic chasis sandwiched between two solid aluminium plates. The plastic chasis provide some degree of shock-protection for the hard drive (fitted inside the enclosure). The aluminium plates has oxidation treated surface which makes it smooth as well as hard. This unique design makes it very easy and fast to fit a 2.5" SATA hard drive in the enclosure to make a pocket hard drive, even for a people with very little knowledge/confidence with computers!

Not only does it look simple, it is very simple to fit a new SATA HD and connect up. No screws, just quick release clips and you're away. I've had *other* makes and models of external HD cases and this one fits the bill perfectly. Ooh yes, the fan hasn't become noisy yet (if it does then it's simple to disconnect). I've also had no issues with transferring files from a few KB to 50 or so GB. Highly recommended!

Totally useless.......2007-09-07
I needed to extract data from some old hard drives so, rather than install them in PCs, I thought this Hard Drive Enclosure was the answer. I tried with 3 drives and only one of them worked. The other two, Windows XP Pro recognises them as a Mass Storage Device, but Device Manager says no drivers are installed for this device. Windows tries to load drivers, but fails everytime.
I have confirmed that the drives are OK, because I have now installed them in a PC (one as master and the other as slave). I now have access to all my data - but no thanks to this device.
I only hope they will take this useless piece of kit back !
Beautiful external hard drive case.......2007-08-18
I had this case for one month now. The quality is very good, the design and the finish are both 1st class. The retail package is also quite good. Fixing a hard drive inside is easy and fast, I managed to get it done in 5 mins without reading any instructions (the included instruction is difficult to follow anyway). Switch on the power and connect the USB cable, my 4-years old computer detected the external hard drive quickly and automatically add it as a new drive in "My Computer". I transfered all my downloaded MP3s and Divx movies inside to free some space in the internal hard drive. The data transfer speed is quite good, 30GB data was transfered in around 1 hour. The fan noisy is not too bad. I also like the idea of placing all the control button in front, it is really convenient. With the four colour lights flashing, it looks absolutely beautiful! In one world, this is one of the best purchase i have ever made.
Disappointed Customer.......2007-08-15
I had an old IDE hard disk that I needed to get some data off so I looked around and found the Allcam Hard Drive Enclosure. The Photo made it look cool, the light on the front seemed useful and the price couldn't be complained about so I ordered one.
The unit arrived a couple of days later and although it felt very cheap I wasn't too upset - you do get what you pay for. The thing that did bother me was the smoke that poured out the back when I plugged it in! Needless to say, it didn't work. After a lengthy call with their customer support, Allcam agreed to send a replacement circuit once I removed the existing one and send it back to them.
Rather than wait for the 5 days return trip I thought I'd just order another one. That arrived this morning and although I'm pleased to report there was no smoke, it didn't work. The USB light on the enclosure lit up but the PC refused to detect it.
I've given up with this product and I'm off to buy a brand I've heard of before. This may be a very cheap product, but for me it really was a false economy.

The Allcam A25 is a beatiful enclosure for 2.5" 9.5mm IDE/ATA laptop hard drives of any capacity. The color of this enclosure is formed by anodizing technology, which will never fade like paint. The finish is also much more polished and has a very smooth feeling.
Default colour is black. For bulk orders, you can order any colour: Silver, Red, Blue, Pink, Orange ... Unit size: 12.7 x 7.9 x 1.3 cm (W x D x H), weight: 60g.
USB bus powered, with "Y"-shape cable to extract power from two USB ports.

Fantastic gadget!.......2007-09-19
I spilled tea all over my laptop (which gave up the ghost immediately). After trying to revive it for a couple of weeks, I had to give up and removed the hard drive. Looked all over for some way to cheaply transfer my old files. MAPLIN had expensive and complicated stuff but this little gadget is FANTASTIC. Straight out of the box, just connected it to my HDD, plugged it through the USB cable into my computer, and it worked right away. I have VISTA and it recognised the drive, installed the driver from the CD, and I could transfer the files. I tried it via another computer with XP, and it didn't work because my files seemed locked to a specific owner (a Microsoft thing I suspect). Through VISTA, I was somehow given the option to take ownership of the files. Can thoroughly recommend this little piece of kit (didn't even screw it into the box, just used it loose).
Great Buy.......2007-08-08
I bought this as my old laptop crashed and needed to get important files back... this did the job perfectly. For £3 you cant get much better. Its easy to use, works well with vista (even if the packing doesn't say so) and also seems to have a pretty good transfer rate (it re-formatted my old 40GB hard disk in about 40 mins). The main drawback is that the screws are a bit on the flimsy side but this does not affect its operation at all.
