Quick, easy and very reliable.......2008-01-07

Not only does it look simple, it is very simple to fit a new SATA HD and connect up. No screws, just quick release clips and you're away. I've had *other* makes and models of external HD cases and this one fits the bill perfectly. Ooh yes, the fan hasn't become noisy yet (if it does then it's simple to disconnect). I've also had no issues with transferring files from a few KB to 50 or so GB. Highly recommended!

Great DVD player.......2008-01-02

Was nervous about buying this because I hadn't heard of the brand or seen many recent reviews so it seemed to good to be true. I am really impressed with it - the DVD has a very good screen and functionality. The DVD lid is a little flimsy. I had expected to sacrifice build quality for all the extras (TV and games) and was actually pleasantly surprised by the overall feel and packaging. It was a Christmas present for my son and certainly had the "wow" factor.

Well, having bought one of these players, I really must say how good it really is. It plays almost anything you put in it, it's fairly well made, only drawback is the poor sound quality through the internal speakers. Though this is nothing to worry about as you tune in any receiver to the same frequency set on the FM transmitter built in the thing and you get good quality sound anwhere in the home.
The picture is of quite good quality given the resolution and to top it all it's cheap. You get a lot of player for little money.

It would be advisable not to expect good digital or analogue TV without a good aerial unless you live near a transmitter!!. I can get good results off both with a reasonable House aerial.

All in all, I would give the thumbs up to this player and the company who supplied it to anyone.

EXCELLENT ITEM.......2007-11-30

I have just bought this item, and am very pleased with it. The dvd player is excellent, the picture quality is excellent, and the tv tuner is great. You can also record off the tv direct to your memory card/stick. The games that come with it are simple, but addictive, the best ones usually are. I cant fault this player yet, with all the functions it has, you would be hard pushed to find anything as good as this for the price.

Allcam 9" DVD Player.......2007-09-22

Ordered this direct from Allcam. Their ordering system is excellent - they send e-mails at every stage of the process. Picture quality is excellent. Sound is quite tinny through the integral speakers but fine on headphones (no headphones supplied). Instruction manual is rubbish. Very basic diagrams and the Chinese/English translation is so poor it doesn't make sense. The games supplied with it are very old and outdated (most recent being 1992!) TV reception pretty poor in my area. Overall should be fine for playing DVD's which is what we wanted it for.

Brilliant.......2007-12-18

I knocked one of these off my desk while it was running, it hit the floor with an almighty bang and tripped the main circuit breaker. I thought that was the end of it, but all it needed was a new fuse in the plug and away it went again, not a single file corrupted - if that's not superb build quality I don't know what is !!

I will be buying a 3rd external drive soon and it'll be a Maxtor again, I wouldn't even consider buying from another manufacturer because among the 8 or more hard drives that have gone faulty and ended up in the bin, not one of those has yet been a Maxtor drive, they're brilliant.

robust and reliable.......2007-10-28

This drive has a great robust feel, which has been born-out in 6 months of rugged service. The firewire and usb are both efficient: it just goes, and leaves you feeling you know it will keep on going.

By contrast, I had two Western Digital "My Books" - both ended up in pieces to get them going - the touch interface switches are unreliable and I had nothing but trouble from them. I am sure the drives are fine, its the case that makes the end user difference. And the Maxtor is a great box.
