Product Description
Logitech's Cordless 2.4 GHz Presenter lets you effectively manage your time during presentations with a built-in and programmable LCD timer. The automatic 5- and 2-minute vibration warnings will let you focus on your presentation, not on the clock. With 15 meters (50 feet) of cordless range, you can move around an auditorium with confidence. No software is required, just plug it in and it works. You'll enjoy extra features like "launch slideshow", "black screen", and volume control, plus an integrated laser pointer. The cordless mini-receiver stores inside device.

just the job.......2007-04-25
An excellent piece of kit. Simple and comfortable to use. It takes two AAA batteries, which makes it a little heavier than presenters driven by calculator-type batteries - but still only weighs 65g in all. Also the whole package is nicely compact; the dongle parks within the handset itself which then fits securely into a neat fabric case. I As far as I can tell the only difference between this and the more expensive version is that the latter is billed as working for mac as well as pc.
Fantastic presenter.......2007-03-15
I've had a couple of presenters in the past which have, frankly, been disappointing.
I was a little concerned on purchasing this one as frankly it looked a bit bulky and '70's TV remote' esque. However, I have several logitech devices all of which have been excellent.
Sure enough when this arrived I realised how much of an injustice the photos do to this product. It's a little longer than my palm, and very comfortable to use. The laser pointer is sharp and bright, and the slide controls work cleanly.
The really nice feature is the timer which you can set at any 5 minute increment you like. It's very reassuring during a long presentation to have a countdown sat there in your hand to check upon, as well as the brilliant 5 min, 2min and 'times up' vibrate alerts you get.
My only tiny quibble is that occasionally I hit the laser pointer button instead of the slide advance button (or vica versa), but thats probably as much to do with my hamfistedness as much as anything else.
I've used this on loads of computers now without any compatibility issues at all, and the batteries last for ages.
Recommended for anyone needing a remote presenter.

Customer Reviews:
Restrictive timer, weak vibrate and non-backlit display spoil a great product.......2007-06-04
The Presenter works brilliantly in most respects ... but Logitech should have invested more effort in designing the timer functions and display. After all, this isn't the cheapest of the bunch.
Here's my take on this otherwise really useful gadget:
1) I don't find the timer display readable in a darkened room - there's no backlight. OK, you don't want a backlight permanently on, but a hold-down button might help.
2) The Presenter vibrates to indicate that 5 minutes and 2 minutes of the preset time are remaining - but the vibration is rather weak, and, in my opinion, could be missed easily during a presentation.
3) I think the manufacturer's technical information supplied on the Amazon site should make it clear that you can only set increments of 5 minutes for a presentation timing (so you get 5, 10, 15, 20 and so on timings in minutes). I train presentations, and for very valid reasons we use an 8 or 9 minute length for the presentations. I don't want to have to work around it by setting 10 minutes and waiting a couple of minutes before we begin, or whatever. It seems like a simple feature to build in, and I am disappointed with the lack of control the user gets over the timer function.
4) Packaging - this remark is addressed to so many manufacturers - it's time to move away from the potentially hand-slashing, flesh-tearing moulded plastic packaging used. I'll bet I'm not the only one who has cut his fingers to ribbons opening a typical small electronic device. Provide an easy-open method - and mark it clearly! Or enclose a pair of butchers gloves and industrial-strength shears with each product.
Superb, if you do any presenting at all, just buy one!.......2006-12-05
I've had mine for a year now, and it's superb! We have others in the office, and they don't interfere, this has some sort of unique ID so that other people doing presentations don't advance your own slides!
Built in laser, aaa batteries last for ages (unlike normal laser pointers), and it just plugs in a goes. I use it on other systems if I don't use my own computer, never failed, and everyone who uses it buys one!
I have used it on Macs and PCs, it actually ships with no software - but then it does not need any, it truly is plug and play. Not plug and pray like many devices!
Brilliant presenter.......2006-04-07
I tried a Kensington presenter before this one. It was not reliable. This Logitech presenter is excellent. I have never known it fail to act on a click. The range is outstanding. I even works outside the room.
Every serious presenter should buy this.......2006-02-19
I present for a living and this is an excellent tool. It blanks the screen and moves slides forward and back from a good range. Very, very simple to set up and use and nice and a clever design.

Customer Reviews:
Great value media mouse.......2007-08-07
I bought this mouse because I wanted to be able to control my music from the other side of the room without having to move. The mouse is great for this reason - the buttons are clear and easy to control, and it works from a good few metres from the receiver.
Battery life is excellent, I think I've had to change them once in a year!
The included software is ok, it's easy to customise all the buttons, and you can match the 'media' button to your own mediaplayer, which is great.
Great mouse.......2007-05-03
I've been using this mouse for a long time now, well over a year or two, and I have to say it's been a great mouse. The media buttons on it are really useful, especially as I tend to use it to control my music when I'm just outside my room with the volume on full blast, saves having to get up from the party and do things manually. There have been a few problems with it, the back button seems to be pushed in a bit too far, and occasionally it has poped up and decided to open media player, or change the volume itself, but normally only when the batteries are low. Also as I would say I'm a fairly hardcore gamer, this mouse has served me well, but the silver does stain after prolonged use (bear in mind I'd be using it about 8 hours a day at least). I am now considering a new mouse as I have broken this one (those parties turned out to be it's downfall, the various drinks spilt into it over the last few months have just about caught up with it) and seeing the price now I am considering this over a proper gaming mouse (like the G7).
In summary, brilliant mouse for everything, from music/movies to gaming, just dont let the batteries run down or strange things may happen :)
Could be better.......2006-12-09
I've been using this mouse for around a year now, it's easy to install, works well on most surfaces and has a range of useful buttons. The problem is that when im moving the mouse around it jumps from one point to the next so i suggest using a single coloured mousemat. also the mouseseems to go crazy sometimes when i'm working e.g. opening my media program and pausing/seeking through music tracks when im not using them. this gets highly annoying when im trying to concentrate on work. and sometimes happens "in game". also the four way scroll doesnt seem to work very well, i dont really use it much. But for the features and price its good, and useful when watching movies etc.
Wireless, optical, full marks.......2006-04-26
Great mouse, very comfortable to use. Feels well made, and much more responsive and reliable than my last wireless mouse. The media buttons work happily with a variety of software, not just the MediaLife software supplied.
It comes with a very small pen-drive-sized USB wireless receiver, and includes a mouse connection adapter, so you have a choice of where to plug it into your pc. It's very easy to set up and customise, and it looks cool when it lights up.
good for photoshop, web users, gamers and people..........2006-04-05
...who like music. Put simply, this mouse was recommended to me by a friend, i bought it and it works perfectly, setup was easy and without any problems, it isnt too heavy, and allows quick web browsing and instant access to media, this mouse is also good for beginner-intermediate photoshop users allowing for fast and easy selections in those awkward places, it is especially handy for those who dont want/cannot afford a decent graphics tablet, and those with laptops. Its a good option for laptop gaming, as it works well on almost any surface, even on my leg during flights when theres nothing else to lean on!

Customer Reviews:
Impressive. It works and it works well.......2007-12-08
The mouse is probably the most important peripheral attached to a PC bar the monitor. You use it all the time. Therefore it needs to be reliable, accurate, and do what you expect.
Ball mice move where and when you want them to. But they are tethered.
Cordless mice are great becasue of the freedom - BUT most have one terrible problem. They go to sleep.
Well the sleeping is not the problem it is the delay when waking up that is the real problem. They all have a small delay. Not enough to annoy someone using word but impossible to use for an artist using a paint package.
The good news is that this mouse has no perceptible dealy at all. Yes it goes to sleep, but it wakes so fast that there are no mismatches between hand movements and the cursor onthe screen.
It works well, keeps its charge and is smooth.
One point worth noting is that it may need a different type of mouse mat. the normal soft mats will offer tooo much resistance and make it harder to use. Some harder surfaces create drag too (oddly). I found that a wood or slightly roughened plastic surface worked best. Glides over. No inertia or start stop motion problems at all - all makes for better accuracy.
Marks out of 100? 95/100 It loses the 5 because as it does really need a special mouse mat to work at its best , for the price one should have been supplied.
Nice mouse, few problems.......2007-04-07
From my experience of using this mouse for a few months, it seems great - very good design, feels wonderful, moves smoothly and tracks well on any surface I care to put it. Love the sideways scroll, and the extra buttons are pretty useful and well-placed. Some things you might want to consider before buying:
As mentioned below, it's almost impossible to hit the middle button. This has not been a problem for me, but if it would be a difficulty, don't buy this mouse.
On Mac OS X 10.3.9 the Control Centre crashes about every other day and the mouse's extra features drop off. It's easy to restart it (Quicksilver makes it a doddle) but it still shouldn't happen.
I just love this mouse........2007-03-17
I have an iMac Intel 10.4.9 which came with a mighty mouse. I have been unhappy with the mighty mouse for a few reasons too long to go into here. I love the Logitech MX 1000 laser mouse because of the comfortable contours and of course, the cordless convenience. It charges very quickly and the charge lasts a long time. I am very pleased with this item and have just purchased one for my son.
Absolutely awesome Mac OSX 10.4 gaming mouse!.......2006-09-23
I have two of these babies on two different machines, one with an old Mac G4 running OS9.22 (driven with Overdrive and not Logitech's own software) and the other in Mac OSX 10.47 (driven with Logitech's own 'Control Center' software. Works superbly on both systems. I would advise though if you buy a Laser mouse to ALSO buy a glass "Ice Mat" (buy direct from icemat.com in Denmark) for it to work on. Standard £5 mouse mats won't cut it with this technology; glass mats are the only things that work beautifully with it so I don't think N.Coper's 1-star Mac review above does it justice. He obviously got himself a "Friday afternoon" model! To completely contradict him, this mouse (in conjunction with an Ice Mat) is the ultimate buy. Apple's own so-called Mighty Mouse just doesn't cut it -- two buttons is the one thing the PC boys got right and Apple haven't. Buy it.
Performs good with WinXP, looks excellent.......2006-06-03
First things first - mouse is comfortable/easy & flexible to use. Have configured it to switch back/forward tabs in Firefox when I tilt the mouse wheel left/right [keystroke CTRL+PAGEUP/CTRL+PAGEDOWN]
Mouse is a stunning looker - the left/right mouse 'buttons' are just areas of the mouse that you depress. The mouse has 3 LEDS on front to show it's power charge [built in battery] - also has an on/off switch underneath. The cradle is easy to place mouse into to charge - cradle needs mains power as well as USB to computer [charger came with mainland European plug from 'avides_media' even though I ordered it from amazon.co.UK for delivery etc to a UK address :-(].
Coming from a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2, MX1000 is physically large [is 10g heavier at 160g, which is surprising as Microsoft uses 2 AA batteries that last months]. Also has radio range double of Microsoft at about 10'
Would be 5 starts but it is nae cheap!
