Take a step back.......2004-03-12

Taking a step back isn't always possible (or safe for that matter, if you near the edge of a cliff). But this little beauty it opens up a whole new world. With its optics designed to give you 30% extra field view in every photo, it is now possible to get everyone in that group shot, near the edge of that cliff.

So why only 4 stars? Couple of reasons. First one being the lense adapter for the camera. It seems like Sony designed the camera then thought - oh wouldn't it be good if....Tacky after thought, works perfectly well, but a tacky after though all the same. Second reason - it blocks off the built it flash slightly. You get a slight shadow in the bottom left of the photo.

Should both these reasons but you off. I would say not. As long as you aware of the issues, they are easily over come i.e if in a dark situation try to get as much light in the left hand side of the photo etc.

I would say that it is definitely worth the money, and could one day save your life, in that group shot near the edge of a cliff.....

The Spycam from Swann Communications is a full-colour miniature camera that plugs directly into a composite video source or PC with a video input facility enabling you to keep a close eye on people or property. The first thing that you notice about the Spycam is just how small it is--it's tiny. The lens measures about 1.5 cm in diameter, which makes it an ideal size for fitting in the types of places you wouldn't normally find a camera. The camera can be operated by the supplied mains adapter or a 9 v battery (not included). Setting it up is as easy as 1,2,3 and it takes less than a minute to get a picture. Simply plug in the camera to a power source and a video source--it really is that simple. The Spycam comes complete with all the necessary cables although the video cable was a bit on the short side (about 10 cm long) and will need supplementing with an additional connecting cable in most practical uses.

The picture is very clear in a well-lit room, and it can even be used in low light. If you want the camera to cover a wide area, then a simple twist of the lens clockwise will widen the picture but soften the focus. While twisting the lens counter-clockwise will allow you to film objects with a high level of magnification.

The user manual is very good, as it not only explains how to set up the camera; it details different scenarios and uses. It even gives the precise measurements for drilling holes in pictures. If you're worried about your property or you want to keep an eye on family or staff then this is an excellent tool at an excellent price. i bought this item for security purposes and has been great the whole time ive had it.wunderfull little device to keep an eye on whos at the door....so if u dont want to answer it you know who it was etc
i wasnt to sure what the qulaity was goin to be like but i took a stab at it and i was very suprised the picture is sooo clear and has a good range on it.
