Ive had two of these from amazon, as i had to return the first, then the second as they were both faulty, they went through three ipods in a week, they just kept frying the ipods hard drive, i think i was just unlucky and got a couple from a bad batch of igrooves, im really annoyed as i loved the system for the sound and power. just got pee'd offf with having to keep returning them and returning my ipods to currys!!! Wont be getting another, have requested refund!

I bought the Igroove with an 80g ipod classic last week. Having read the reviews on here I took the plunge and boy am I glad i did. I have replaced a Philips Streamium with an ipod and docking station and have had some doubts as to if I was doing the right thing. The streamium had frustrated me long enough, dodgy firmware, freezing constantly and not being vista or mac compatible all became too much to bear. The only thing bugging me was if I could get a sound quality to match the streamium system. It need not have bugged me at all. I am staggered at how a smallish docking station can deliver such a ear pleasing sound. I havent heard of Klipsch before buying this and all i can say is im looking forward to my next Klipsch purchase. Some of you may have doubts that at under £100 can this be true?
Well let me tell you it wipes the floor with anything Bose can deliver. I plugged it in for the first time yesterday, placed the ipod in, selected a faithless track at 256K and spent the next 5 minutes speechless. Buy one before Klipsh wakes up and smells the coffee and raises the price!

I got a 16GB touch for chrismas and someone else bought me this. What Planning! This is a fantastic bit of kit. The sound quality is out of this world and the design of it means it can sit on the sideboard looking great with or without the touch connected. Im even thinking of getting another for the study!

I would like to thank the gentlemen who wrote the previous review. My husband is fanatical about music and sound and I bought him a set of the speakers. Know he has just not stopped talking about them to his mates and even me. I bought one of these to replace a very poor Bose system. After seeing them reveiwed on Ilounge. The first thing that needs to be mentioned about this kit is the sound quality - it is absolutely excellent. My old Bose system which, by comparison, sounded as if it was underwater. These speakers are an incredible bargain. I doubt that for £50 you could do any better than this pair of Athenas. They produce some incredibly believeable sound, before these started to break in - they sounded dull, however after about a week, they really started to open up, and they just keep sounding better and better. I've got no complaints about these speakers, I'd have to say that these speakers could easily rival speakers costing twice as much, maybe a little more, grab a pair - as they're not manufactured anymore to my knowledge - there is nothing that disappoints about these speakers. They have plenty of authority - you can crank these things WAY up - and I even find that I like the sound better when it's a bit louder, they seem to sound better when they're turned up.At the same time they're delicate enough to handle classical music and have a beautiful soundstage and a wonderfully sweet sound! A truly great bargain. I would like to thank Ilounge for reviewing these speakers and recommending with a A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

To the eye, this could pass off as a high end B&O unit. Very minimalist and stylish. So far so good...

However, the biggest let down (and it's pretty substantial) is the extremely irritating and very loud 'popping' sound that graces the beginning of every track. So, forget it if you want to listen to gentle, classical music or an album where two tracks are segueing into each other as it will be punctuated by this disconcerting dull pop, which becomes increasingly irritating.
Had the manufacturers dealt with this glaring problem and designed a remote control that actually worked beyond a distance of 18 inches (which is pretty much the same distance from which you'd operate it manually), then this would have received a full five stars, as it's a visually arresting unit and very cheap.
As it stands, it's only worth two stars, and one of those is for the physical design.

i purchased this docking station yesterday and it looks great. i feel as if i have made the righ choice.
looks- very apealing looks great in my bedroom and is uptodate
sounds- very good can hear all the instruments very clearly and to a high quality for its size it packs a punch.
problems- this sounds system has one minor problem which annoying people seem to have a problem with which is a slight pop or crack which you get from changing one track to another. this is ahrdly noticable and shouldn't put anyone off GREAT product.

All the problems mentioned in previous reviews are present and correct, although the overall sound is good. I received this as a present (not via Amazon) so won't be returning it, but would warn potential buyers that - besides anything else - the speaker system is now out-of-date and is not fully compatible with the present Nano.
Random noise problems.......2006-12-29
Similar to another user, I had problems with random noise which seemed to co-incide with the backlight going off and being in the now playing screen.
My wife was quite happy to listen to the unit and would have kept it, but it drove me crazy. I'm not some sort of sound speciallist, but I do like my music to sound reasonably good - and apart from the odd interference, it did sound quite good.
In the end (next day) I took the unit back to the shop and swapped it for another, but in the process, tried my iPod on each display model of every system and this was the only unit which did the odd noise in-between tracks and randomly during tracks.
It may be acceptable to others, but it wasn't acceptable to me - 2 stars only.

A great product, good sound and worth the money. It does not do everything in the description though. The description is for the Houseparty 24/7 and not the House Party II.
It does not have an alarm clock with two alarms and snooze function. You can use the Ipod alarm, but this does not have snooze functions.
It does not have a AM/FM radio at all. This is not available with this model.
Other than this, it is a great buy.

Good sound, good style, bad fires. I had these for 2 days when I went to use them on the 2nd day I was greeted by a odd sound followed by a bang and lots of smoke. I was able to yank the plug out before it got any worse and I seriously think it would have caught fire if I had left it. The speakers are now totally trashed and its just luckily that I hadn't put my iPod in it yet. I've had other ones in the range so maybe this was just a defective one but I'm very unimpressed with it.
Extremely Temperamental.......2007-07-17
I saw the reviews on this and other websites for this speaker set and, being a sucker for gimmicky gadgets such as the LCD screen on this, I ordered it. Little did I know how disappointed in the system I would be.
Upon opening and setting up the speakers everything seemed fine. The music sounded well, the LCD screen while not especially useful was working well and I was pleased in general.
Two hours later I decided I wanted to play a podcast I had downloaded so I turned the iPod on, hit menu to go back to the music menu and then the iStation forced the iPod to jump back to where it was previously. However, it did not go back properly which resulted in the LCD screen continually reading "Connecting..." and the iPod itself was going between screens of "Ok to Disconnect" and the first track alphabetically in my song library. To fix this problem I had to disconnect the iStation from the mains and leave it for a rather large amount of time as short periods merely resulted in repeats of the same problems. Problems also occurred when trying to use the station to synchronise as this seemed to confuse the unit and make it unusable until it "rested."
The remote control also seems extremely unresponsive, resulting in the volume turning to maximum due to you thinking it did not pick up your first few requests to turn it up slightly (I hope that makes sense.)
Like another reviewer perhaps I merely got a faulty set but I would personally recommend looking for an alternative as this was a huge disappointment.

I did a lot of research before buying these speakers.
My initial problem with these speakers were that they would pick up song information from my Nano but not my video ipod. I spoke to the Logic3 helpdesk who gave me advice (reluctantly) to upgrade to itunes 7. This didn't make a lot of sense as my Nano wasn't updated on itunes 7 but I really wanted it to work so I did the upgrade. It didn't make a difference so then he said I had to do a restore of the video ipod and all would be fine (this needs to work in order for the remote control to work properly!). I did the resore, it worked - yipee I thought - and then it stopped working. I decided to keep the speakers anyway as they bare a nice size and give a reasonably good sound and all the extra connections that persuaded me to buy them in the first place.
I bought the speakers primarily for use in my office and on occassional trips. Usage has been gentle, plugged in for a maximum of 10 - 12 hours per day, playing for maybe 5 or 6 of those, unplugged and put away each night. I've had them for about 6 months and last week they stopped working. Well almost - they still charge my ipod but that isn't really good enough! I called Logic 3 and to be fair they have said if I send them back they will replace them..... I'll do that but they will need to perform a bit better if I'm to keep them. Maybe I just got a bad set.... I'll let you know!
