Simple, Basic and cheap.......2008-01-09

The charger and batteries are good value. The only downside is that the charger does not seem to have an automatic shut-off and batteries can get very hot, particularly if left too long.

A very good package overall.

Will not self-drain in a hurry.......2007-11-23

Users of regular Ni-MH rechargeables will be aware of the self-drain they suffer, where a fully charged battery seems to go flat before it's been used for very long. This is annoying in high-drain devices like digital cameras.

These Hybrio batteries are an alternative (another being Eneloop) that improves upon regular rechargeables by maintaining their charge for longer (70% after a year is claimed). Although these are 2100mAh and thus have only 78% of the capacity of 2700mAh rechargeables, they are more suitable for the occasional camera user who will not use the full charge in a hurry.

If you're a high intensity user I believe that regular, higher capacity Ni-MH rechargeables will be more suitable, although these Hybrios would still make excellent back-up batteries.

The supplied charger is a slow trickle charger that'll take 16 hours for the included batteries, which is fine if you're happy to leave it on overnight. I have charged them with a faster charger and not had a problem. All in all an excellent set.

This compact charger was a great purchase Takes both AA( included) & AAA bateries (purchased seperately) Which I have used and found to last much longer than other rechargable batteries.

Good fm transmitter.......2007-09-23

I received my TeckNet FM11 Portable Stereo MP3 FM Transmitter a few days ago only snag is I bought it a week too soon as I paid £4.99 plus postage!
Very pleased with it so far, I like the fact that it has rechargeable batteries and a jack that can be plugged into an iPod etc. I own the rocketfm transmitter already and it works with a usb cable only but this works with both.

Flawed.......2007-08-22

There are loads of these knocking around on the net under various different brands.

I am on my second now, and alas I can say that you get what you pay for.

The first had good sound quality but, after about a month, the wire going to the headphone jack started to come out of the transmitter unit, and the plastic shielding started to crack, until eventually there was no sound at all coming out of the left channel. The build quality in general was very poor - sometimes the buttons would stick, and the device would lock up, requiring the batteries to be removed and put back in.

The design on the second one seems to have been refined a bit - there is a plastic grommet on the top of the unit to stop the wire coming out, and the wire itself seems to be shielded in a softer plastic to stop it cracking.

Great - except that there is a continuous high-pitched interference in the background. This seems to be present no matter what frequency it is tuned into, and even if there is nothing connected.

If you are a trash-rock fan, this probably isn't going to annoy you too much, but on anything more quiet it will quickly spoil your listening.

Poor build quality and cheap parts seem to have made these devices a lottery.

At the price I thought it was worth an experiment just to see if it would help avoid carrying CDs around in the car. However, the unit puts out an annoying level of background noise - enough to spoil the music, even on a motorway. It's not worth the price, even without the very pricey postage. By binning this unit and paying £20 for a better brand, I got excellent radio reception - the same quality as a good stereo FM station.

MP3 FM Transmitter .......2007-06-27

I had one of these before but the bit where the USB cable goes in broke so it only goes on batterys now.

But I get very good signal using a longer cable

I now have ordered another one which comes with batterys.

I got this as an add-on to a very nice Creative MP3 player, but it is rubbish - no instructions, will not power on, when you turn the torch on it will not turn off. Save the P&P and buy something decent.
