Great alarm clock!.......2007-07-30
This feels like luxury to me, but then I could be easily pleased. This is easy to set up, you can set the ipod on what you'd like to wake up to before you snooze off (or it will just start at the top of your playlist and head downwards). Nice little remote control. Radio not really used, but works well, not digital of course, but that will no doubt be on a later model. Love the fact that my ipod is now charged when I need it and I'm getting up by music I like in the morning. Worth it.
Great product.......2007-01-30
Having been frustated by the poor sound quality on clock radios over the years I was sceptical about this product. Got one for ourselves in November and were so impressed that we bought two more as Christmas gifts for family members. It is true that there are no pre sets for the radio stations but then, we bought these so that we could wake up to music from our iPods.
All of us are delighted with it.
Spot on!.......2007-01-26
Recently bought this docking station after much searching to find the best all in one station. It has everything and the sound is good but doesn't go too loud but that's only for you hard core rockers. Alarm is great especially with the dimmer and I got it at a great price compared to other places. (Thankyou Amazon and iHome!)Recommend it to anyone who wants an all in one docking station, so go ahead, buy it!
Excellent.......2007-01-22
Apart from not being able to navigate the ipod's menu from the remote, I am very pleased with this speaker dock. Easy to use & excellent sound.
A technological marvel? Nope........2007-01-03
I had this bought for me at Christmas and although I actually asked for it I'm looking for someone to blame and Santa just isnt as accountable when you hit my age. Where do I start? Ok, whether you want your ipod to play or perhaps the radio, you can access these by hitting one of the few plastic clunky, backlit in orange buttons. Perhaps you want to turn the volume up? Well just use the clunky wheel to turn it up until it distorts (it doesnt take long). Or maybe you want to pre set your favourite radio stations? Nope, cant do that. You have to manually spin the wheel of radio fortune everytime you want to change stations.
But here's the real bug bear, it doesnt seem to be possible to set the volume that either the ipod or the radio comes on at when you set it to wake you up in the morning - hence why I'm feeling so grumpy having been rudely awoken by a blast of music ever since Santa paid me a visit.
Its not a cheap item and in the age of techinical advance you think that a unit such as this could really embrace some of the most basic functions found on the majority of clock radios. And dont get me started on the 'remote control' if I spend anymore time waving the damn thing at the unit I may think I've actually been given a Wii for Christmas...

Really good clock/radio.......2007-12-18
Got the houseparty clock for my birthday in November, and am really pleased with it!
Yes the clock is a bit bright, but you can solve that problem by putting something in front of it at night (I use a small teddy that stands on my bedside cupboard), and yes the lowest volume is a bit loud, but at least it wakes you up! I had slept through my old one!!
The clock and radio are really easy to set up and use and you just connect your ipod and it works straight away. The sound is I think really good, especialy if its only for the bedroom!
I have no complaints at all and am glad I chose the houseparty!

Couldn't be more disappointed.......2007-09-12
Straight out of the box I noticed things wrong with this machine. Firstly one of the feet had come unstuck and needed reapplying. The light was too bright, even on dim. Don't be fooled into thinking there is an alrm on this clock; there isn't. It will wake you, but only to the sound of the radio or ipod.
My real disappointment came when the manual was unclear as to how to change the snooze from 5 minutes. There was a spelling mistake in the instructions which gives you some idea as to how much time has been spent on them and it clearly says, "the snooze will sound at ten minutes and then ten minutes alter that"(spelling mistake on 'after that'). Thing is, alter was a good word, as it doesn't tell you how to alter from the five minutes.
I sent Gear4 am e-mail asking for help and got a reply saying it may take up to 48 hours to reply. It has been nearly a week now and still no reply.
Save yourself the time and money and look for something else. This clock is going back, filed under 'faulty' and 'did not live up to expectations'.
RECOMMENDED.......2007-04-04
I am really pleased with this radio. It is small enough to fit on my kitchen windowsill at 24cm wide x 10cm high x 12cm deep. It has a good sound and is definitely good looking in glossy black. I definitely recommend it.
Silly problems spoil otherwise good product.......2007-01-04
Speakers for Ipod are numerous but I wanted to be waken up with the music from my Ipod with good sound. I discarded the JVC offer after reading too many bad reviews.
This Gear4 24/7 seems to fit the bill.
It is sturdy, compact, classy looking, rich sounding and even fully navigates the Ipod via the remote. There are 2 alarms, an aux. input and isn't too expensive.
What is it like to use? Overall, good and the sound is very decent but silly niggles spoil what could have been a much better product.
The good:
-Smart design and compact(looks like a Bose product).
-Powerfull and good quality sound.
-Dimmable display.
-Complete remote with all functions.
The bad:
-The 3 position dimmer is too bright in pitch darkness. The blue colour can also create a haze and look "out of focus".
-As mentioned above, the lowest volume is still too high and you cannot set up the desired volume when waking up.
The volume increments are also strange: from no sound to quite loud , then too many very small steps with not much difference until the last 3 increments that go loud.
The niggles:
-The remote is too directional and the layout is imperfect (the "enter" button is too far from the click wheel equivalent called "select")
-I find that the sound is better when the unit is lifted in mid air. The (mini)subwoofer and port might have been better placed on top or at the rear?
-the 3.5 audio cord was not in the box and there were only 4 docks instead of 6 (they are not labelled, try the one that fits best).
-No technical specifications (the 2x6 watts don't seem to be RMS or it would be much louder).
The Gear4 24/7 is conservative and stylish, feels weel made and works well.
The sound is full and rich rather than bassy (despite the promissing 2.1 activbass). It is of good quality for a small thing at the price but other speaker-only sets fare better (on par with the Logitech MM50).
As an alarm clock, the relative high volume and bright light are very disappointing. Unless you put the unit as far as you can away from the bed :)
Overall: Average and I would only recommend it if the problems are eliminated.
Good but not perfect.......2006-12-28
For the money, this appears to be a good product (that said I don't have any experience of other docking stations). The build quality is good and it sounds OK - good enough for listening to in the bedroom anyway. The buttons feel good and the LED display is nice. Overall I am very happy with this item.
Things which could be improved (and really easy too I would think)
1. The LED display can be dimmed, which is a nice touch. BUT, it doesn't save the dimmed setting, so you need to do this each time you use the docking station - why?
2. The volume, on minimum the sound is still quite loud, not uncomfortably, but still higher than I would like, expecially as I listen to this at night time. I found this with my ipod too, so maybe I have sensitive ears or the volume is controlled from the Ipod - not convinced.
3. The remote control, a great feature but badly implemented. Yes, even when you are next to the docking station, it is handy not to have to reach out to change track. The remote control is not backlit\glo-in-the-dark and the layout choice is not very intiutive.
4. AM reception - maybe it is just mine, but I couldn't get a decent AM signal, even with the aerial fully extended.
So overall not a bad item, well priced but a few - easily solved - problems.
Would I recommend - yes with the above explanation.
