the white model of thi is only suited to the 1st generation nano and it has really bad sound qality. thew black version is suited to 1st and 2nd generation ipod nano and has amazing sound quality

I was looking to find a decent, relatively low-priced I-Pod speaker / alarm clock for ages and found this one by chance.
It does everything I require of it and had a few more extras that I think are extremely useful. For example, the mini controller that comes with it allows me to choose whether I want to listen to the radio or I-pod, lets me change the volume or skip trax and brilliantly has the snooze button on the controller so i can just press the button rather that get out of my bed when all I want to do is sleep.
The sound quality is excellent and you get a lot for your money. You won't be disappointed....

Sound quality is good; looks & style good: the main selling point is the fade of volume in sleep mode, which is a great idea and works OK but is totally spoilt by a click through the speakers as it cuts off, waking you up! 2nd unit tried, both suffered from this fault (1st didn't fade at all). Good idea; pity it's spoilt.

You can't get these in New Zealand so I picked one up in the UK and took a chance that it would be ok.
Coupled with my iPod Touch this really is such a great device. The sound is excellent for a small unit and the thing is so customisable, wake to ipod, to music, two independent alarms (we use one in the week, the other at the weekend).
I have had no problems with it pausing and starting both a 2G nano and a Touch but I know some people have had problems with later models and it will also not charge my 3G 40Gb iPod which is a shame.
I had returned 2 similar units before this because the backlight had only 2 settings (off, surface of the sun) and I found it impossible to sleep with it next to the bed. I turn this to the lowest setting at lights out which is fine.
There are some downsides, most notable the FM tuner which is just appalling, the worst I have ever experienced. Background hiss is very noticeable unless you get the aerial just right, when you do it becomes acceptable.
Also it doesn't come with dock inserts which seems really tight-fisted.
Bottom line is I knew this was the one I wanted and everytime I bought an alternative (that was available in NZ) is was useless and went back.
It looks like there is a new version about to come out and it looks good. If they have fixed the FM and the wake to ipod for some models then it will be perfect.

As a new Ipod user and fan to the point of obsession, I needed some speakers and an alarm and I read just 1 review on here about 6 months ago, so I took a risk and ordered as I'm not very gadget minded, anyway after it arrived and getting my very gadget minded son to set it all up for me it works great and the sound quality is fantastic...
Me and my 2 teenage kids plug it in outside the bathroom and they both use their Ipods in it too when in the bath or shower (not at the same time obviously) teenagers love so it must be trendy!! And my neighbours can hear it too or so they commented :-( I don't think they are as impressed as me though!!
The only downfall is not getting a set up guide with it and my son got fed up with me asking him to tune in different radio stations which do give a good reception in my area....Well after a few goes with the nice silver twiddly knob things (yes I'm female) I'm now an advanced user and even more impressed (it was easy really) and I even took it on a weekend away with me and the back up battery is a useful feature too as it saved all the settings....If you want something that looks good and sounds good then go for it.
I love it and sleep with the remote under my pillow and you can even snooze it from your bed with the remote, then the tune you choose to wake up to (yes you can pick your tune of the day) gradually ramps up again into a major wake up call depending on how loud you set it..Infact it has alot of settings all useful and tailor made for how you want to wake up and party, or drag yourself off to work feeling very tunefull!! Go on you know you want one :-)
Solid build, great sound, chic display.......2007-11-28
I have had the Luna now for well over 4 months and all in all I am very impressed. The only downside is the setting up mentioned in previous reviews. The units build quality seems to be very high, the unit is very heavy for its size and the sound quality is more than efficiently loud, in fact I have not heard any other clock radio that sounds as good. The display is very clear, precise and looks chic which can be dimmed or brightened almost to your hearts delight.
My one downfall with this product is... why of why would you not make the white slim remote control illuminous (glow-in-the-dark) as in the dark is the only time I really use it.
But for a hundred squid you can't grumble too much and would think without spending many more hundreds I don't think you can beat this!
Cannot use the iPOD for the Alarm Function.......2007-11-12
I paid 135 euros for this thing and the first morning I woke up to the sounds of Radiohead on my iPOD, hit the snooze button and woke up an hour later... it seems that the radio cannot wake up the iPOD when it is on pause, which is what happens when you hit snooze or don't carefully set it up the night before! I contacted xtrememac and asked if there was a fix for this for the iPOD Nano3G, thinking it was because I had a newer iPOD... There response:

The Luna will charge and play the iPod Nano G3; however, the alarm function will not function as expected with the iPod. There is no fix for this issue. Our Design Team is working on new products.
