Customer Reviews:
AVOID FOR MAC, Lexmark are the worst printers imaginable..........2008-01-16
I've never loathed an item so much to actually bother putting my hate into a review, but that was before I met this junk.
I recently bought an iMac and was looking for a wifi printer so PC users in my house can also use it. I installed a CD which seemed to have drivers for 20 odd different printers on it. (3300 through to 6600), and a 400 page manual called 'getting started'. pah.
After getting the printer to connect to the wireless network, i thought I was on a roll! then I open up the bible of 'getting started' to follow step by step to make sure I don't make any mistakes. The Mac section must be ancient because it listed certain options that aren't on Leopard. Fair enough I say, Leopard (Mac OS X) has just come out so it's bound not to have full instructions, I look on the web and find nothing but people saying how it crashes every program when trying to print and only scans through USB.
Balderdash I think, as I continue to try and install.
No luck on wireless, hey, well at least I can have it USB right?
Wrong.
Pages, Preview and every other program with a PRINT option crashed.
I'm returning this absolute shoddy printer and buying something decent instead.
Again, COMPLETELY AVOID IF YOU'RE A MAC USER.
Completely non-user friendly - which doesn't suit a macintosh at all.
Absolute rubbish.......2008-01-13
This is the worst printer I have ever used. It lasted about two weeks before giving up. The Lexmark website was worse than useless. A huge waste of money.
Mixed.......2008-01-07
This printer was up and working with my main PC (XP) from the box in about 45mins. It relied quite heavily on you having a wireless router so I don't know how you would get on with a straight Laptop-Printer wireless connection. My problem was with Vista. My laptop uses Vista and I was a bit dumb and tried the XP/2K disk on it (I assumed it would spot Vista). It didn't spot anything ,but the install fails without letting you know its failed. After about 4 hours I discovered that even the Vista drivers (downloaded from Lexmark) would fail to install because the wrong XP ones were already there. A manual install and an overwrite of existing drivers eventually got it done.
I don't mind fighting these things too much...perhaps I even enjoy it - but if you want to install this on a home network with different O/S's you might to try elsewhere.
Neat Little Printer/Copier.......2008-01-05
I don't know what the other reviewer has against this printer but it works fine for me (on XP). Everything installed seamlessly and I had it ready to roll in less than 20 mins. Initial setup is a doddle and made easier by the backlit LCD, so you can stuff the printer under the desk and still read what its up to!
The prints are good - nice and bright with no lines, colours are accurate. It takes about 40 secs to print a whole A4 side in colour, which isn't bad given the price. I needed a printer for an urgent assignment and it was cheaper to buy this than renew the cartridges for my old printer (£65 ???). I'm very happy with the Lexmark and the cartridges are cheap too! Wireless option is a handy addition.
Don't forget to buy a usb cable!
Awful Printer.......2008-01-05
This has got to be the worst printer I have ever worked with and being in the IT field I work with a lot. But to make matters worse the company doesn't have a return policy for it. They will blame it on the software and drivers for it, so you are stuck with a bad printer. Save yourself some money and buy another brand.

Great If You Don't Print Photos.......2007-07-20
I have had this printer for around 6 months now, it has performed perfectly. The fax, copy, print an scan are easy to use, and there have been no problems.
The only downside is the warm up time for the first print, and it seems to use ink just a little fast
If you want a general purpose office machine for low volume printing this may well be it! Higher volume will work out expensive with an inkjet - go for a laser in that case.
If you print photos DONT buy this machine, it is totally unsuitabe. I have a little Canon printer at home for that.
