What I really liked is that everything is manual, no annoying electronic features that take you 4 hours reading the manual. The sound quality is also very good for such a small device and certainly sufficent for world service, though probably not for someone who really wants to focus on music. I bought this for a studying holiday in Rome and it really served its purpose of allowing me to listen to the local radio and foreign stations, it now travels with me everywhere. The only negative point I can think of is that the noise of the alarm is very irritating but then perhaps its supposed to be.

A fantastic radio with only a few minor flaws.......2006-08-09
Pro: Small size is convenient for travel. Antenna can be pulled away from the case, so it extends at a vertical angle, and not at an awkward angle like the Eton E5. Only 2 AA cells are needed. Radio has single-side-band AND synchronous detection! Battery life approx. 12 hours. The case protects the unit reasonably well. The price makes this radio a bargain.
Con: The battery cover is slightly flimsy. Sensitivity is adequate but not excellent. Audio quality is adequate. Does not come with a power adapter. The radio has been discontinued by Sony.
Overall, I really like this radio. It would have been given 5 stars if it came with a power adapter and had a better battery life. If you're looking for a compact SW receiver with lots of features, then this is the radio for you.
