Great headphones but burn them in!.......2007-11-02
I can't wear conventional headphones. They just keep falling out. Plus, when held in by hand they sound so much better. Consequently I decided to buy some of these.
I was surprised at first how much treble there was in their sound and thought I had made a big mistake. For a while I only used them when I really needed to, as I have several other sets. However, over time the sound has gotten better and better and now I can barely use anything else. Every other set sounds muffled compared with these. Plus, the bass is now excellent after some use and the soundstage when watching movies or listening to music is awesome.
Definitely a good buy. Shure and Sony do some similar headphones, haven't tried those but you can't go wrong with these.

very good quality headphones reduces that annoying tinny sound greatly along with a certain degree of background noise cancelation. however recently i lost the silicon earpiece and none of the other sizes fit my ear and cant find replacements anywhere

Nothing Special.......2008-01-13
I have a pair of Sennheiser PX 200 head phones and was looking for a better bass response so tried the Sony MDREX32LPB in Ear headphones
Pros
Better bass response than the PX 200
Very comfortable to wear
Great in Ear fit
Cons
Stereo separation poor compared to the PX 200
Clarity of Sound Poor
Result I will stay with the PX200 as overall it produces a better sound.
If you can try before you buy.
Itchy!.......2007-08-01
The sounds very good quality but the blomin things keep falling out what ever the size bud! Itchy also. I would recommend these to people who have good experiences with in ears but unfortunately this is the 4 th pair I have purchased and still no good results :( back to the ordinary ones i guess!
Compared to Shure E2G's.......2007-06-28
These win hands down. I bought a pair of Shure's E2Gs last month expecting an excellent product from the leaders in the field. They arrived and I used them for about 2 weeks. I was actually quite disappointed with the sound quality of the Shure's feeling they didn't give out enough bass (I'm not particularly mad about bass but you need it to a degree to stop tininess) and was contemplating returning them. As I was deciding this, I foolishly lost them so that put an end to that. I then looked around for some replacements and ended up going for the Sony's, mainly due to the fact that I have always been satisfied with Sony's products. I am happy to say these are no different; they provide more bass and generally a richer sound than the E2G's and were £25.00 cheaper. The Shure carrying pouch is better than Sony's protector, that said, it took up a lot of room in comparison with Sony's little pod but protected everything instead of just the bud bits. Anyhow, all in all, I would definitely recommend these earphones. So far at least, they have proved excellent value for money and produce a superb rich sound considering price.

Solid acoustics, questionable ergonomics........2007-10-23
First of all, the sound quality on these headphones is significantly better than the standard iPod set. The treble is very good, the bass is good but could do with a bit more punch on bassier tracks, but for most genres of music the Sony headphones create a very enjoyable sound. This is further benefitted from the "in ear" design which cuts down background noise well. The volume is also better, but that is perhaps in no small part due to the iPod earphones being so quiet rather than the Sony ones being particularly loud.
The set comes with a choice of ear plugs to fit most sizes of ears, but my problem was that I was "between sizes" meaning that one was a little too tight to fit in comfortably, and the other requires constant pushing in when listening to the iPod on the go, especially running.
The quality of the set seems very solid, and should last longer than the iPod set. For the money, this set provides great value for money too.
Great sound and style for under £20.......2007-05-15
These headphones replaced my knackered iPOD ones and the sound from these sony ones is incredible compared to the iPOD's. There is a good quality depth to the sound and it even sounds good at low volumes. Classical music is crisp and anything with more bass is also coped with well. I would definitely recommend these to any iPOD owner and for anyone looking for a good quality set for under £20!

good at first!!.......2007-12-14
When i first got these i thought they were great, sound was good they fitted my ear fine, but then the ear bits started to fall off, & there easy to lose. Then unexpectedly the sound just went all fuzzy for no reason. one minute they were fine the next there not working at all. Also for the price of these headphones i think its to high & would of expected more!!
sound good but poor build.......2007-10-27
these headphones deliver a good overall sound as long as you have them fitted
correctly. the problem with them is that the ear bubs fall off very easily, and once you've lost them theyre unreplacable (iv asked Philips), meaning you have to buy a whole new pair of headphones. This is a false economy. I would recomend the shure EC2's, pay a bit more but in the long run work out cheaper ( you wont have to replace them after a few months) plus they sound amazing.
All...Or Nothing?.......2007-10-25
Brilliant, exceptional detailed sound and a great fit for my ears and my 5.5 gen White iPod Video. However...I've experienced that this In-Ear Headphones aren't made for everybody since some people in my environment have trouble keeping them, well...In their Ears. On top of that: outdoors I'm using my bluetooth wireless headphones -Philips SHB7102[*****]- so I can't comment on the [in]convenience of the wires in outdoor-situations or complain about losing a silicon earbud which would make the device worthless. They're such a bargain that I bought two sets anyway, thus I'll have to loose three buds before that's the case... So, in short: AYOR -At Your Own Risk- and when you're a bit lucky, you will be...lucky, happy, delirious, whatever. Good luck!

Good for background bad for brats!.......2007-12-26
I've no base for comparison but this is a very good product. I do sony products because of their build, innovative ideas, performance and quality, this product is no exception. It was always going to be sony but I duly read up on them anyway and compared them to rivals brands just in case.
First time I tried them I couldn't believe it, all that background low frequency racket you get in a public place, a telly on through the house etc it practically eliminated, the exception being higher pitch and people speaking to you - i.e. this product is not a solution to the other half nagging at you!
I'm using them through my K810 sony ericsson, sound is far from shabby, I'd say better than the conventional rubber earphones found on sony walkman phones. Best thing is that you won't need to destroy the old ears by cranking up the volume to overcome surrounding noise.
My one gripe - and it's one which even sony won't be able to engineer a solution to - is that when on a plane and there's a brat making a squealing noise (which in my opinion is the worst kind) they won't be able to counteract it, you've been warned. In a nutshell top technology, impressive, no regrets.
would recommend, very good.......2007-09-22
I was dubious about how successful noise cancelling ear buds would be, got to say I'm converted.
I used them on a flight from US to UK. Excellent when listening to inflight entertainment, only complaint was from the wife who nudged me to say "you can't hear me can you"! Then even manged to sleep wearing them with music turned soft they kept out the background noise pretty well.
Point to note; Make sure you select the correct size bud to fit your ear (they come with three sizes) as it does make a huge difference.
Also make sure they are in firmly as this again makes a difference to how much noise is kept out.
I did read a previous review saying about the hiss noise when noise cancelling is on. All I can say is 'read the instructions' this is what they do initially. Once listening to something you don't notice it.
Would recommend. Wife now wants some.
Read the instruction!.......2007-09-12
I recently received as a gift, a 30g I-pod so I treated myself with these earphones.
When I first plugged them in I thought what have I wasted my money on! The sound was extremely tinny and even compensating with the equaliser there was not enough bass and in general the sound quality poor and as far as noise cancelling was concerned I was unaware of any!
I then read the instructions which stated to ensure you use the correct size ear plugs. I inserted the largest flimsy looking plugs and wow! What a difference. I turned the equaliser off straight away, bass was booming, treble was crisp....music to my ears. As for the noise reduction I didn't really notice and that is the key. I was so engrossed in my music the world became distant. So I guess the noise cancelling works a treat.
Why not four star? Well, these plugs you have to insert are flimsy and I can see after some time they will get damaged, Sony sell replacements but they are expensive and you only get a set of three, one of each size. So in effect you only get one replacement as the others are redundant.
Trains and podcasts.......2007-09-02
I bought these after reading the previous reviews. These are my first noise cancelling headphones so I can not really compare them to any other. But I am quite satisfied, I use them everyday, when commuting by trains. The sound is great...as long as there are no windows opened in the trains (and you are not entering a tunnel). I mostly listen to podcasts and with these earphones, it is really enjoyable. One drawback I noticed, they picked up mobile phone signals and will then buzz annoyingly.
Except this, I think they are great. I even use them without listening to anything, just to reduce the train background noise (old noisy trains...)
Excellent sound reduction, some background noise.......2007-07-31
Recently purchased and have tried in a plane and car. In-ear type which you either like or don't. Personally I prefer them as they don't get in the way as you rest your head as much as over ear types. There is some noise reduction by them being in ear anyway but the reduction from turning them on is quite dramatic and very impressive. Also, excellent general sound reproduction from the earphones. The only slight drawback I can find is a slight background hum which, to be fair, you can only hear if you use them in quiet surroundings (i.e. not a place you would actually use them). Overall excellent performance for the price and I highly recommend them.

Value for money.......2007-12-31
The good: Great sound, nice fit, cheap!
The bad: If you have tiny ear-holes don't buy them!
Personally I think they are better then the reviews but that's my opinion.
:)
Don't buy these!!!.......2007-12-05
I bought these a couple of weeks ago to replace the broken ones on my mp3 player. I've had to stop using them, they just keep falling out it's really annoying and not what you expect at this price. Keep Clear...
Bad fit.......2007-11-27
They just dont fit in your ears, even when pushed right in they just pop out. They may stay in if you keep perfectley still but are useless for cycling, running etc.
Poor Fit.......2007-11-06
I bought these quite a while ago, and since then have stopped using them. I found them to have two flaws - the first being that the supplied buds didn't fit into my ears - they kept popping out even when fully pushed in. Secondly, the buds came off easily, so as it popped out of my ear, the bud would fall onto the ground. I quickly lost the rubber buds.
The sound quality was good, with a strong bass, but I wouldn't buy them again. My pair stopped working at all after a few months.
Good sound, bad design........2007-07-01
I bought these to replace the rubbish ones i got with my MP3 player. The sound quality is great, & comfy to wear too. The only problem i have with them is the rubber sheath part which attaches to the in ear speaker. I've now lost mine because they come off quite easily, and they dont give you a replacement set when you buy them. Considering the price you'd think they'd put a couple of extra rubber bits in for you!!
